About this house rental
Huntington Farm is a fantastic 14 acre gathering place for a large family or multi-family group. Situated along Cherrystone Creek just 5 miles from the town of Cape Charles, it is an ideal setting to get away from it all but still close to the great shops and restaurants in the town.
Built in the 1600's and fully restored, it has huge living areas including a formal living room, formal dining room, a large modern kitchen and a family room with large picture windows looking out on Cherrystone Creek. The second floor sleeping areas include three bedrooms with en suite baths. Bedroom 1 has a king bed, bedroom 2 has a queen and bedroom 3 has two sets of bunk beds. There is also a sleeping/sitting room that has two day beds (twin size).
The expansive grounds can easily accommodate large events with the addition of tents if need be.

Great place to stay and beautiful views. Was perfect for our group. Highly recommend!

I loved this historic site, although the house could stand a lot of decluttering, especially in the kitchen/den wing. There were a lot of improvements that could be made, but since the property is for sale, I doubt the owner wants to go to the trouble. Perhaps more could be said in the listing about the history of the house and the people interred in the graveyard, and the rental could be pitched to history lovers.

It is outdated but it has a great layout to accommodate a big group. I wish they had outdoor seating for everyone and that they treated for mosquitos.

We loved the house and property. It was private but yet within a short drive to shop and dine. The beds were comfortable and the rooms spacious.
We did have trouble getting the tv to work (football weekend)
We hope to stay at Huntington Farm again.

Overall a great time with the exception of grass cuttings being tracked in the house and embetted in our dogs' fur and tree trimming interrupting our stay.

We stayed in this house last Memorial Day weekend (2022) and had such a great time that we booked it again this year. While we had a great time in Cape Charles, we found the house was not on the same par as last year. There were cobwebs throughout the house and clumps of dust under the furniture int he family room. We felt the cleaning fee should cover a better cleaning job. Also, the kitchen was not as well stocked with cooking utensils and necessary cleaning items (dish soap, paper towels, sponges, etc.) as we felt it was last year. Overall we feel it's a beautiful house and property - we were just disappointed in the lack of cleanliness and supplies that are normally included when renting.

We had a wonderful stay Easter weekend! My family loved the no frills charming old farmhouse. The house could use some maintenance but, the beautiful views of the water make up for it! There was plenty of space for seven adults, a toddler, and two dogs! The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook or there's plenty of options to eat out in Cape Charles! It was fun learning about the history of the farm including the cemetery on the premises! We enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and use of the firepit close to the water! If you are looking for peace and quiet and a place away from it all this is the place to stay!

Great space for the whole family to relax. Fun to kayak by the water, breathtaking sunsets, fire pit and foosball table were a plus.

Great location for a Family Vacation
Lots of space. Lots of history...house built in 1600's but very nice and spacious. Internet was a bit slow at times but overall worked. Towels and linens included which was real nice. Places for a fire, BBQ etc. Great place..definately going back.

Memorial Day Weekend Wedding in Cape Charles
We loved the house and the property - both were beautiful and well kept. It was so peaceful - all you heard were the birds chirping! I'd love to know about the history of the property since it was established in the 1600s! I'd definitely recommend it to others! Cape Charles is a delightful town! We had a great time!

We loved the area. Beautiful and peaceful. House met all our needs. Home was very clean. We felt like we had stepped back in time! Our little dog loved running in the field and wading in the water.
The entire family had a wonderful experience and plan to return!

So much potential
This was our second trip to Huntington Farm and despite having a wonderful time and enjoying ourselves tremendously, it would be remiss to not note that the property is in desperate need of some TLC. The house is old and the historic charm is much appreciated, but updates are necessary to ensure comfort of your guests.

Escape from civilization here.
This location is clean, well cared for, and an amazing location to just get away. The property management group is the best in timely answering of questions and helping with altered schedules.

Wedding Party
Our son was married at nearby Mimosa Barn and our stay at Huntington Farm was lovely. The groom and groomsmen dressed here and took pictures on the beautiful grounds. We were comfortable and loved both the history and the waterfront location.

Paradise
My spouse, daughter, and I spent a week here. We fell in love with the property the moment we pulled up. Our dog was in heaven with acres and acres of open grass space among trees that had to be over a 150 years old. The house was emaculate and beautifully laid out. The beds were very comfortable and had all of the conveniences of home. We loved the history of the place which made it even more attractive. We had kayaks delivered and launched them from the side of the house which opens to the bay. The sunsets were spectacular!!!. Close to the state park and beach. Very close to downtown. This will be our go to place when we return. Also want to thank Chuck who coordinated our stay and came to my rescue when we departed. I left my phone on the front porch. He immediately retrieved it and located a person staying in CC who was driving back to our town the same day we left.

July Vacay
We loved the grounds and the house, in general, but the kitchen was poorly equipped; we found we needed to go out and buy basic items frequently. Also, the property was not ready at the check-in time. The cleaning crew had not been there and we had to wait two hours (until after 6:00 p.m.) for them to finish cleaning. The house has so much potential if someone would take the time to make some very simple upgrades. The house doesn't feel "loved"; sadly, it feels neglected. We would love to spend a week there just upgrading the property and doing projects ourselves!

Awesome location
The location had perfect views. It was very quiet with a short drive to town and the beach. Overall we were extremely satisfied. The home is very old but super charming. It was clean and the air conditioner was efficient. There was also a brand new grill. The property could use some yard work and trimming around the house and near the water for easier access. We had no problem, however others may have difficulty. I would absolutely rent the property again.

Forever Memories Are Made at Huntington Farm
We chose Huntington Farm for our 2021 Family vacation and wish we had taken a whole week at the place. It was absolutely perfect for our six adults and two preschoolers. The house was absolutely wonderful, fully stocked with all of the kitchen gadgets we could need, the beds were comfortable and the rooms looked clean and inviting, and the locations was absolutely perfect for playtime, running through the grass after bubbles, frisbee with dogs, sunsets views over the bay. I could go on and on. Forever memories are made in places like this. I'm so grateful to the owners of Huntington Farm for making it available for guests to rent.

Wonderful farm house
Loved the property, on a point with great cool breezes all week. Stunning views and a great lawn for games and playing with dogs!

Perfect place for our dogs.
My dogs are used to running free on our small farm so this place was perfect. It was even fenced in so I know they wouldn’t go off hunting in unfamiliar grounds. They especially loved access to the bay to hunt and “fish”. I think a couple horses or even ponies would be a nice addition just to fill out that big yard, but that’s just me, LOL! The house was large enough for four people and was exactly as described. Very clean. I would definitely go back.

Peaceful Retreat
If you are looking to escape the noise of the big city, this pet-friendly gem on the water is just the place to settle a bit. The property is quiet, with a large grassy area for the dogs to run. There are also a few flat areas where your dogs can get in and out of the water easily. It is a huge house with great views from the kitchen and open family room. We plan on going back soon.

Amazing
We loved our stay at Huntington Farm. The house was so neat. The sunrise and sunsets were spectacular. We rode bikes and kayaked. We went to Cape Charles beach, which was just a short drive. We had a wonderful time as a family and will definitely be back.

Beautiful property! Peaceful setting with the most amazing sunset and sunrise views.
The house is perfect for one or two families and it comes equipped with anything you can possibly need.
Kayaks would be a great addition! 😉
Loved our stay!

We had a fantastic trip to Cape Charles. While an emergency prevented us from staying in our initially reserved location, the management team was quick to offer a wonderful solution. It was a wonderful experience!

Just what we needed!
We have 4 young sons who love to run and explore!!! This property was just perfection for that! We had the best time and made the most amazing memories! The charm of the farmhouse is something the adults can appreciate and the kids loved the bunk beds and having their own room with a bathroom! We will be booking this property again and again!

Family Vacation We'll Never Forget!
Huntington Farm will always have a soft spot in our heart. Our family of 7, grandparents, daughter, grandchildren, Naomi (10), Virginia (7), Essie (7), and Simon (2), plus our 4-legged family member, Hero, had a wonderful vacation in this gorgeous historical home. The farm with the large, elegant, cozy family home and lovely grounds on the Chesapeake Bay was exactly what we needed. We've been "staying at home" together since the pandemic began, and Huntington Farm felt safe and provided loads of entertainment. We kayaked, enjoyed s'mores around the fire pit, girls played the piano for hours (the variety of sheet music at the home was fun for them to play), and steamed oysters on the outdoor grill bought just minutes from the house at Cherrystone Aqua Farm. We went to Cape Charles Beach, a quick ride away, which was perfect for little ones with shallow calm water and easy uncrowded social distancing. We appreciate the owners allowing us to rent their beautiful home for a special, safe, and much needed family vacation. We hope we will be able to go again in the near future. Many thanks!

Stay summary
The house was nice, but needs some TLC. Many lightbulbs were out, knobs pulled off fixtures, etc. We fixed the screen on the front door - there was none. Disappointed that there was not a dock/pier for kids to crab from.

Our stay in Cape Charles
The property was beautiful but the grass had grown to 2 feet high. By Thursday, the landscaper came and cut the grass from 10am to 7pm. 2 bathtubs didn't drain, you had to hold the drains open. The shoreline had garbage and wood that had settled. Again, the property was beautiful, but the house could have been cleaner. When we arrived at 5pm, the cleaners had just arrived to the property, so we didn't walk through the door until 6:30pm.

Awesome time at Huntington Farm!
We loved our stay at Huntington Farm, it was everything as advertised. We had all our family there - 3 generations - and everyone loved it.
PROS
We loved how much room, both inside and outside, there was. You can't really tell it from the pictures, but this is a big house inside with lotsa space. And, the family/living room off the kitchen was where we hung out most of the time.
We had no idea how much we'd love having the foosball table there. Our 4 elementary school age grandkids absolutely loved it and always wanted to play.
We appreciated the access to water, as we brought a canoe, crabbing pots and a 100-lb chocolate lab who LOVED to go swimming. While it really isn't swimmable access, that's okay.
It was nice being close to Cape Charles. We spent a lot of time at the public beach there, as well at the pier where a few of us went fishing.
It was nice having all the tools, pots, pans, and a few spices in the kitchen. We all felt right at home and ate the majority of our meals there. The kids loved sitting at the breakfast bar, and few even snuck into the "swan" dining room to eat with the grownups!
Bedrooms worked out perfectly for us, even having the 4 grandkids all-together in bunk beds in one room. Just a little chatter at bedtime, not too much!
The two adult bedrooms were terrific and it was nice to have separate bathrooms with each.
We loved the sunset over Chesapeake Bay on nights when it was clear.
Also, having a whole lotta land around us lended to a very private-feeling stay.
Loved having the washer/dryer, along with laundry soap.
Also, discovered beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards and toys in closet in laundry room - which we were happy to use!
We did have a problem one of the last days we were there with a leaky shower/tub, but Chuck (property manager) came right out when I called him.
CONS (minor)
There was a weird, stained built-in cutting board on the counter to the right of the stove. Probably should be replaced.
With all of us there, the last person taking a shower had a cooler than normal shower, as the hot water ran out.
We couldn't find the right filters for the coffee maker, so had to buy some at Food Lion, but no big deal.
You will not be disappointed if you stay there!
Overall, we highly recommend Huntington Farm. Just know it is an old home, which for us added to the charm. Also, the graveyard in the back was weird at first, but it added to the feeling of history and legacy while we stayed there.

The pictures don’t do the house justice. The house is huge! Very open and relaxing vibes. My family and friends loved the whole experience. I would come back anytime!
