Superb

At about 1800 above sea Level this place offers a great view into the Mountains and down to the Plateau. Very friendly staff, good food in large amounts. We took a guided Walk to the Border of the National Park Mount Rwenzori at 2300 m above sea level and to beautiful Rukoki water fall. Very friendly and knowing Guide. We saw a three horned Chamelion up there. We also booked a Camp fire with Story telling. A very homey experience with Lots of Exchange about all aspects of live, some home-brewed banana bear and fire grilled Chicken. Definitly worth visiting. Driving the Last 6 Miles with a Car is not advisable. We parked the Car at Kilembe Police station and took motorcycles sent by the Camp up to the Camp.

Bring a flashlight with you, as there ist no light in the cabin,, toilette, and shower. Recharging mobile phone and flashlight can be done in the on site restaurant.

The location is superb. The view of the Rwenzori mountains and the plain is spectacular. The guided walk up to the waterfall was interesting and beautiful. The guide was very knowledgeable and it was interesting to learn about the local culture. It was a calm and restorative place and it was good to learn the campsite is part of the community and not simply a profit making enterprise.

The road up the mountain is not for the faint-hearted.

the location of this place is just amazing! the activities are so nice and you feel like a part of the village. everyone look after you, even when you go out the campsite. The best point is the staff and his manager Lodric who you cannot forget after you trip. Chill nature and good vibes! thank you again ! Ingrid and Bobbi

Simple place with very good breakfast Rolex

Place was very simple corresponding to the low price. For breakfast I ate the best Rolex during our three weeks vacation in Uganda. My companion enjoyed driving on the old broken road in the mountains leading to the accommodation. It was challenging.

It was supposed to be the best accommodation according to reviews. But the only incredible thing was the view and mountains and the ride by motorbike. The manager tried to communicate through WhatsApp and solve things.

We were the first guests after a month and the personnel was totally unprepared. There was just no water in the shower and barrels, so after the muddy hike in the Rwenzori mountains we didn't have the chance to take a shower or even brush our teeth, There was neither water for drinking nor to buy. We got to the hut next to the restroom which smelled bad, The door was not easy to close and the bed was very uncomfortable.

Incredibly beautiful place to stay near Mt Rwenzori

Mbunga Community Campsite was one of the most incredible and unique places I have stayed. From the boda ride up the mountain, the incredible views, the friendly staff, the community around the campsite, and the overall atmosphere, I can recommend this place for travellers who are looking for a unique stay near Mount Rwenzori. Alex and Kule were incredible guides during our community walk and hike, and we got to see how the community makes coffee (be sure to buy some while you're there!). The hike to the waterfall is also incredibly beautiful!

Very good

It was in a location high up into the hills with great views, very friendly staff and lots of activities on offer.

I came in the rainy season and the road was quite affected by the rain so it's a bit difficult to get there

Pleasant

The surroundnig was very beautiful and the hike to the border of Ruwenzori National Park that is offered by the knowlegable staff member Alexander is highly recommended.

Sleeping in the single room was a challenge to say the least, and the accomodation is more than basic. Any type of luxory is not to be expected.

Spectacular location, awesome staff. Don't miss!

Location and views are out of this world, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing experiene. A very special place, not to miss.

Don't underestimate the difficulty of the road up there. Take a boda boda (motorbike taxi), don't be an idiot like me and try and drive.

peaceful time in the mountains

Amazing view on the Kasese valley, in a small village on top of a hill. Don’t miss out on a sunrise in The Valley. The people there are all very kind. They organize everything for you. The exiting/ adventures Boda drive to get to the place (40 min from Kasese), hiking to the Rwenzori NP border (including the waterfall) and also food from the village or restaurant. They even have some solar power supply to charge electronics. The bed was comfortable and had a mosquito net. The supplies were simple but exactly what you will expect from a small village in the mountain. The food was delicious.

The staff was super nice and welcoming. We attended the community campfire with the locals (absulotely recommended, it`s done every beginning, middle and end of a month) where we learned a lot about the community, their tribe, rituals and culture. You can also do a community walk to see more of the beautiful landscape and get to know better how life in the community works. The food in the restaurant was amazing and the portions are huge. Mbunga Campsite is the perfect place to get some rest, gain some energy and enjoy the nature, since it is placed in the heart of the Rwenzori Mountains. The views from everywhere are spectacular. I would very much recommend to stay here!

Visited need more information about the very difficult and challenging road to access it. Clearer is signage is required from the main road in Kilembe Village

Beautiful spot in the mountians

absolutely beautiful, idyllic setting in the foothills of the Rwenzori’s - took around 20 minutes from Kasese town on a boss up a pretty steep hill so not for the faint hearted. We stayed in a fairly rustic but cosy room. wonderful, friendly staff. Perfect position for hiking - we did a day hike to the waterfalls with Alexander which was fantastic. Beautiful scenery and we learnt a lot about local culture

We had some really good meals but there are no other options around for food so meal choices can feel a bit limited after a few days

It is a beautiful place with wonderful view and very great stuff. We had nice and interesting conversations. You are here in the middle of the most beautiful nature, much under the open sky - get up for sunrise is worth it.

Accommodation is at the top of the mountains. And it takes a while to get there. We traveled on motorbikes and with the help of the inhabitants we got to the reception of the accommodation (the first motorbikes at the accommodation). The staff is absolutely amazing and helpful. They try to fulfill every wish. The views from the accommodation are wonderful. Accommodation recommended !!! The food was great !!! Thank you very much, it was the best experience for us in Uganda Filip
