Whenever we would message Marcus, both before and during the trip, he would respond within the hour (many times even sooner). When we arrived, he walked us through every detail of the house, gave us some tourist tips, and even gave us a bus pass. When you look at the picture online, you think "there's no way this view looks like this" - it actually DOES and EVEN MORE! There's cow bells ringing in the distance and the sound of the rushing river below your bedroom. The back porch for wine and watching the sunset is a must. Don't be deterred that the train station is right below the house - the trains are extremely quiet and we never even noticed! We rarely took the bus - enjoyed the walk into town each evening. We even got in the habit of getting groceries at the Coop (also within walking distance) and eating at the little table in the backyard. Marcus's family's home is a MUST if you're planning on staying in Grindelwald. Get out of the downtown touristy area and stay here!!! It's AMAZING!! We will definitely be back!!

Right from the very start fromMarkus meeting us as we walked up to his wonderful chalet, everything was just perfect! A cozy 2 story chalet right in the mountain valley with gorgeous views. Balcony off the master and a real wood fireplace with wood provided made our stay just perfect!

We spent 4 nights at this property that sits below Mt Eiger and just above Grindelwald Grund train station. Easy to walk or ride a bus to Grindelwald for shops and eating establishments. We would relax in the backyard in the mornings and late afternoons while taking in unbelievable and magnificent Mountain Views. A great base station for adventure. We drove to Grindelwald and never used the car, next time we will use trains to travel there.

Amazing views, close to bus stop, comfortable bed
We loved our stay. Communication with Marcus with fast and efficient. We had everything we needed. The accommodations where modern and clean. The neighborhood was quiet except the train bells can be heard at night if the windows are open. No issues if the windows are closed.

Awesome
We stayed 24 nights in this apartment, and it really worked perfectly for us. We wanted to hike a lot, and the location of this place is ideal...near train, bus, and cable car stations.
The kitchen is beautifully equipped. It has everything we needed to cook meals.
We knew when we booked it that the layout was a little funky. The toilet, sink, and shower are all in different places of the apartment. But it worked just fine for us.
The outdoor space is great....fabulous views of Mount Eiger.
We appreciated that the apartment was spotless!
The washer and dryer is shared with the owner and his two teenage sons. It was a tiny bit tricky to find times to do laundry, but certainly not a big deal.
We loved every minute of our stay here, and in the Grindelwald area. We would definitely recommend this darling apartment!

Amazing views in cozy location
The views really are amazing and as a property that is offset to the back, there is even more privacy.
The unit is great for two people (4 would be crammed).
Truly walking distance to the main cable car and just a 20 min walk to the center of Grindelwald.
Laundry machine is shared with the second unit in the building which is seemingly occupied full time by owners family members, but they are very nice and accommodating.

Grindelwald is absolutely stunning and we found plenty of walks with the most amazing scenery and the snow made it more beautiful.

cozy apartment in a beautiful location
We recently spent 3 nights here and had a wonderful stay! Communication with the hosts was great and the apartment is comfortable and cozy and had everything we needed. The bed in the main bedroom was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on! Tip to other travelers: The 123 bus just outside of the main train station will take you to just down the street from the apartment. It's also an easy downhill 15-minute walk if your luggage isn't too heavy.

From reservation to check out Marcus made the process so easy. Very accommodating and sweet. The apt is cozy and sits in the middle of such a beautiful setting. I wished we could have stayed longer. Would recommend this property who wants to stay in Grindelwald.

Gorgeous Chalet in Grindelwald

Clean, spacious apartment with stunning views and close to transport and attractions.
This Grindelwald chalet was a pleasure to stay in. There is a bus stop in front (Marcus provided a free bus pass) that conveniently took us into town for accessing attractions. The chalet itself was clean and spacious, had a functioning proper kitchen and was very comfortable to stay in. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Grindelwald. Thanks Marcus and his family for the hospitality.

Great place, great hosts!
First time to Switzerland with my wife and we loved this place! Terrific views of the mountains, fully equipped kitchen (including fondue set that we used!), and not too far from shopping, restaurants and the gondolas! Mandy was extremely hospitable and even recommended a couple good places to eat in town. We would definitely try to stay here again when we inevitably make our way back to Grindelwald!

Lovely quiet apartment in good location
Very nice quiet apartment with fabulous views. Mandy and Markus are charming and speak good English. They are helpful with places to visit. Lovely outside seating area with a wonderful view of the mountains. The apartment is in Grindelwald Grund which is an ideal location for getting train to Jungfraujoch and Mannlichen. You can walk to Grindelwald in 10 minutes (uphill) or catch local bus which is free with a visitors pass that they will give you. Apartment is very clean Kitchen is very well equipped with little extras like salt & pepper, foil, cling film etc.

Wonderful property, amazing location!
The property was very easy to find and was in a brilliant location in Grindelwald. With the guest card you can get a free bus all around the village but everything you need is within walking distance. Markus, our host, was very helpful before, and on arrival at the house. He showed us around the property and answered all our questions. The house itself was of a very high standard, the living room is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing stay and making home cooked meals (It's nice to have a full sized oven in a rental property.) We were lucky to have great weather and the Eiger and small trains made a stunning view from the bedroom balcony and garden. The garden is large with a BBQ, table and chairs for eating and more for relaxing after a days walking. Grindelwald is a great location for a holiday; stunning scenery, great walks and all the little trains to take you up and down the mountain. I would highly recommend this property and we hope to go back soon! Thank you Markus and Mandy

Words don’t do this place justice. The view from the balcony and every window, the location, and the owners are all wonderful. The kitchen has all utensils you need, you just need to buy the basic cooking ingredients. A perfect romantic getaway. The outdoor swimming pool right across the road is perfect in warm weather. I recommend Onkle Tom’s Pizza Hut and a walk through the valley with the local cows and their bells below First. We will be back!

Markus and Mandy were great hosts. We had a very relaxing stay in Grindelwald. Close enough to town and very quiet at night. Very attentive when we needed small things. Markus offered to pick us up at the train station.

Wonderful getaway in the Alps
We loved our stay at this apartment! Incredible view of Mt. Eiger and other peaks from the bedroom balcony and back patio. Private and quiet, with the gentle sound of the nearby stream Very convenient location, easy walking distance to town. We bought our groceries and made several meals right in the well-equipped kitchen. Markus was a great host, giving us good information, and available for any questions we had. We would not hesitate to highly recommend this place for a vacation stay.

Cozy, comfortable with magnificent view.
Owners, Mandy and Markus, were very nice and helpful. This place was small but very cozy and comfortable with a fireplace (we didn't use), a place to eat outside and a magnificent view. Bedroom was nice size with comfortable beds and a sink. The bedroom and shower are up a narrow circular stairs so we left our suitcases on the main floor. The kitchen has every thing you need including a few condiments. Great home base for train to Kleine Scheidgg from which we took a difficult hike (but worth it!) to Wegen. We came back on the train from Wengen to Grindelwald. Also many other places to hike. There is room to park a car and there is an easy walk to the train station. The walk to town is quite steep but there is a free bus (use the guest card given to you by the owners) that goes right by the house. We recommend this place if you don't need something fancy! Grindelwald is one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland and this was a great place to stay!

Great Stay
We had 3 great days staying in this house. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the view, especially sitting outside at sunset eating our dinner. Markus and Mandy were friendly, informative hosts that made us feel welcome.
The speedy wifi was much appreciated when storing my photos, the bedroom had a nice deck and the kitchen / living areas were well set up with everything we required.

Excellent home that has everything you need for self contained bliss
This apartment (well basically your own little house) was perfect for our stay (we are a young couple). The owners are very lovely and communication before, during and after the trip was excellent.
The view from the balcony off the bedroom is stunning. We simply loved it. We didn't have the best weather for some of the time but we remarked that if we were going to get any rainy weather it was best to happen in Grindelwald because the apartment was so comfortable! We could watch a movie on the decent TV in the spacious lounge room, cook our own food, and relax.
It is about 10 minute walk to town, uphill going there, downhill coming back. A bus ticket to town is provided, which we didn't use, but it could be very useful if raining or if feeling lazy.
This was our first time using HomeAway but we were very impressed.

Very clean house, very friendly host. The room is not very big, but very warm, have good a view, you can see the snow and mountain. Outside there are a lot of firewood, a fire in winter, I feel good.
