First the good/great: the lot and view, sunsets across the bay were just outstanding. The house is well oriented to the view and had just enough space for our family. Home is reasonably well maintained. Ocean access is very good, swimming on site would have been OK but we opted to swim elsewhere during our stay. Neighbors were fantastic, friendly and accommodating. Horseshoes on site with kiddos was an instant memory. Picnics at sunset every night were magical. Morning coffee overlooking the ocean and relaxing in a hammock were a regular thing. The history of the place was very cool. The OK- Not specific to the camp per se but we came to spend time doing activities with the family on the island. Probably spent more time driving than we would have liked to. So if you're coming for hiking biking sand beach etc. plan to spend 30 minutes each way to most any destination in the park. The not great- the place had a bit of a funk when we arrived. Our supply trip the evening of our arrival involved getting scented candles and ferbreze which was used copiously!! The mattress/ coil situation was uh...unsupportive? Not to be crabby about it (and we did see some crabs) but if you have a bad back this might be a bit of a challenge. Overall very pleased with the rental and had an amazing time. Ran out of time to write to the owners in the guest book but thank you for letting us stay in your home.

The cabin reminded me of the lake cabins where I grew up in Minnesota. Even though we had heavy fog most mornings and evenings during our stay, we enjoyed the beautiful views of the bay from picture windows. The cabin was clean and well-appointed and we had everything we needed for our stay. The property has been in the Smith family for several generations and it was interesting to see the photos of the family through the years. We spent the days sightseeing and the cabin is conveniently located to Bar Harbor, Acadia, Schoodic, and other areas making for easy day trips. The people at Acadia Cottage Rentals were easy to work with and had left us a nice welcome package of good area maps and brochures, as well as a wonderful jar of Maine wild blueberry jam! We hated to leave the little cottage and would definitely come back again some time! Thank you!
