Much as advertised, great basic lower priced place to base for intro to Islesboro. Stayed 3 nights. Only complaint were that the fancy stove top didn't work making preparing meals challenging between use of 'fryer', charcoal grill and our own camping

While me and husband tend to camp and have kayak camped on Warren Island, we wanted to kayak around Islesboro. We found this cabin to be very comfortable and it had everything we needed for our stay. Despite my worry that the bed would be too small, I found it to be quite comfortable. Great place to stay for a vacation.

This small secluded cabin had everything we needed to cook, eat, relax and sleep comfortably, and it was bigger than I expected from the description. We didn't use the beach at the house, but we walked the short distance to see it. The cabin had a great view of the water, particularly nice in the moonlight. It was obvious that the host had thought of everything that would contribute to a enjoyable stay.

This is our second stay at this cabin and won't be our last. The location is great, there's a beach just down the hill, there's a slight oceanview, bed is comfortable, fans are sufficient for warm days, there's a little heater for any damp nights, the cabin is clean. For the cost, it is as it should be. If someone is staying in the cottage below, the parking is a bit cramped and the situation is not as private as I prefer. To gain access to the path to the shore you have to walk onto the neighbor's porch which feels a little intrusive. Overall, it's a wonderful experience on an amazing island.

The cabin was well equipped and very clean and pretty.
The family was very nice and the daughter was helpful.
Since it is "pet friendly" I was able to bring my Boston Terrier with me.
However, due to the foggy, rainy weather we were not able to enjoy it completely. Would be ideal for younger, hardier folks who like to hike, or a romantic getaway in the woods for a couple.

Everything was just as described. Forgot how tight a double bed could be for 2 adults. For a few nights, it was doable. The access to the shore out front is quite a bonus for this price.

The cabin was very cute in the middle of the island. Like having a hotel room in the woods. Only thing I would change is the bed. It was small, a queen size would be better.

The property worked out perfect for my wife and I. The shared parking was tight but made it work just fine. The cabin was just the right size for us and everything worked as needed. As others have said we did bring our own gas grill to cook on but the charcoal grill provided would have worked. Charcoal was left by previous tenants that we could have used. While no bed is perfect for everyone this one was soft which was fine for me but was too soft for my wife.
We really enjoyed hanging out on the beach down the stairs . High tide was fine as we dipped our feet in as we sat on our beach chairs. I also dove in to cool off. Low tide we tended to walk further south on the beach and hung out down there.
All in all we would gladly stay again.
Thank you Juli

Amazingly quaint cottage in excellent locale!
This property was above and beyond what was expected for the amount paid. Yes, it's rustic and yes it's dated but that is exactly what gives it it's charm. Everything was spotless, not a spec of dust! The bed was super comfortable. Juli was super responsive! The location is great, just a bit north of the middle of the island. Had an obstructed view of the water but this was necessary as there would have been very limited privacy between this cottage and the one in front if the trees hadn't been there. We will definitely bring bikes next time! We could've biked everywhere we wanted go. There's a steep decline to get to the private beach but the steps are sturdy so no worries. I would gladly pay three times the amount if the place was a bit more updated (not necessary, just pointing out that price reflects the accommodations appropriately) had a dock, some bikes/kayaks to use during the stay but these things will not deter me from visiting again as I've just booked it for next year!

Cabin in the Woods
First, the paperwork with vrbo should be shortened to a single printable page of information and omitting all the other unnecessary pages. Also, the info like wi-fi codes should be larger print.
The cabin was pretty much what we expected in a convenient location. Our stay was pleasant. We were surprised the ladder system down to your cove was so death defying. Since your properties have been in the family for so many years; we would think a less dangerous access might be in order.
Thank you. Leo & Penny

Beautiful and Rustic
Juli was helpful and accommodating throughout. She was easy to work with, and the cabin is in an idyllic location. You can see the ocean from one side, and the other side sits in the trees. Juli was helpful and patient with my questions throughout the process. I want to go back!

This was our second time staying in this cabin and it was as great as the first. This is a good place to get away and relax. Two things we noticed is that the internet was improved since our stay last year and there is now a charcoal grill available. Both of these are improvements on an already great cabin!
We had to leave a day early because of a family emergency but are already looking forwards to booking a trip for next year!

rustic cabin needs deep cleaning and a new mattress
the cabin is a perfect little cozy place, the location is ideal and the island is beautiful. We had a great time swimming and sunbathing and exploring the place. The cabin was only superficially cleaned. there was dust in the bathroom and the wooden floors, some of the dishes were not cleaned and the worse part was the bed. The mattress has zero support, your body sinked in. By the 2nd night I had to flip the mattress over-slept on the springs which provided a little more support. A good, deep cleaning and a new mattress will make this little cabin ideal. the location is fantastic.

Loved the Island
We opted for a bargain price and it was a nice experience and well worth the cost. Wish it had been a little cleaner, but over all a nice stay. The island is beautiful and will will spend more for nicer accommodations on our next visit.

Great Location
Perfect spot for a Maine island vacation.
Quaint cabin in the trees overlooking Penobscot bay and just a short walk to the water.
Cabin has all that’s needed to enjoy a quiet and peaceful stay. Yes, WiFi is spotty, but who needs virtual experiences when you have the Maine coast just steps away.

Perfect Cabin to Unwind and Relax
My girlfriend and I wanted to get away and have some time to disconnect so we were looking at remote locations near the ocean where we could completely unplug. I’m almost afraid to review this property because it was so wonderful/is such a hidden gem that we don’t want others to know about it!
The cabin was perfectly sized for the two of us and is larger inside than it looks from the pictures. The kitchen was a good size for the limited cooking we wanted to do. I recommend bringing a grill as the porch is a great spot to plank some salmon or grill burgers. The fridge is large enough for a week’s worth of food, however, if you plan to stay longer I would recommend bringing a cooler.
The view is great, you can see the water through the trees and the property is very quiet/peaceful. A different family was renting the other lodging on the property, however, we barely heard them during our stay—this cabin has a lot of privacy.
Juli was great at answering our questions and was very accommodating for our cat. Yes, we brought our cat. He is older and requires regular medication so we typically travel with him. He loves the cabin and sitting in the window watching the chipmunks and birds.
Check in and check out was seamless and, despite being on the island, there is garbage pick-up. There is also recycling, which we appreciate.
Due to COVID, we didn’t explore the town or general store, however, we did go on several walks and went swimming both at the property’s private beach and at the town beach.
A truly magical stay and we can’t wait to book again—we hope to make this delightful cabin an annual retreat for us. Thanks for the wonderful memories!

Peaceful and cozy
I wanted to whisk my husband away and this was THE PERFECT spot. Located on the island of Islesboro, the only way on or off is the ferry. The one-room cabin had all the basics we needed. I’m very glad I brought my own groceries *before* getting on the ferry. There are two general stores on the island (not open on Sunday at check in time!!!), but understandably have higher prices than the mainland does! The shower was hot (just don’t wash the dishes first 😬), the stove and electric skillet worked great, the compact fridge / freezer combination was super cold, there were two fans and plenty of windows to open to help combat the humidity , the sheets and towels and all things in the kitchen and bathroom were clean (a few cobwebs but that’s to be expected in “a little cabin in the woods”). I even got to read most of a mystery novel that was on the shelf while my husband slept in. The views from our shoreline were fabulous, and our first night there we found a TON of sea glass of all colors and sizes. The slow life of the island and the many, many different views all within walking distance or a short drive from this cabin made it the most relaxing weekend we have had in years. Juli was easy to reach if we needed her and very patient and kind to us. **Be aware of the ferry times vs checkout time. ** Highly recommend!

Relaxation and privacy
A huge thank you to Juli for all she did to accommodate our stay at her beautiful property. The cabin, which is larger than we thought, had all we needed and fit myself, daughter and 2 dogs. We did bring our own portable grill which I would recommend if you plan on grilling. Otherwise, we didn’t need a thing.
If you’re looking for a vacation that encompasses woods and ocean mixed with privacy, this is it! We woke to amazing sunrises and spend the day finding numerous sea glass along the shore. At night, the sunsets were spectacular setting the stage for stars like you’ve never seen! We saw multiple shooting stars! Memories we will cherish.....

Beautiful relaxing stay.
It was very peaceful and beautiful location. It would be nice to have a journal so that people could share tips and experiences. I was fortunate to have spoken to a sheriff who gave us tips on what to do that weren't publicized anywhere

A Break from the Ordinary
This was a wonderful little cabin situated right on the bay in a very wooded lot. The pictures and description were all very accurate. I loved being on the island. Juli was very responsive to the approval and had a very smooth check-in and out process. It's a perfect little get-a-way for one or two people. The loons calling out at night were hauntingly beautiful - brought me back to being on the lake in Minnesota. Basic kitchen supplies are provided, and the cabin is otherwise well-stocked. My only issue was with the shower - it's small (stand-up only), so it was a tight space, but I'm a large guy. I managed. :) I highly recommend this property and will definitely be interested in booking again in the future.

Cozy and far away from it all! Total relaxation.
The cabin had everything we needed. Was a great time watching the sunrise and driving to the west side of the island for sunset. The owner was more than helpful answering questions as we prepared for our visit. Will definitely use VRBO again.

throwback to 1930’s
My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and it was a great place to get away from our busy life! It’s a much simpler life on the island, reminded us of the days before cell phones, TV, and all the other gadgets in our day to day life. The cabin is located down a quiet, dead end dirt road in the pine trees. Ocean view through the trees and a very short walk down a rock cliff with some neat hand built stairs to get down to a great little beach. Excellent if you enjoy searching for sea glass. The island is small but still fun to take a little ride in the car to explore. The locals are very friendly and everyone waves as you drive by. Durkees general store is right around the corner and they have most anything you’d need. The cabin is small but it’s clean and cozy. It was really perfect for the 2 of us. Good sized bathroom with a shower, kitchen sink with a mini fridge with plenty of storage for our food. We spent most of our weekend walking the shoreline and hunting sea glass. I’d recommend this cabin to anyone looking to relax and get away from the daily hustle. A couple things to keep in mind, there is no heat. We stayed in mid September which can sometimes be cold, luckily the weekend we stayed was warm. Also, there’s no grill. We brought our own but giving a heads up to anyone staying in the future. There’s no restaurants on the island so you will want to cook and with only one cook top in the cabin it would’ve been tough without our grill. The general stores do have pizza, we grabbed a couple slices for lunch one day and it was good.

Lovely semi-secluded one room cabin by the water
This was the perfect place for my partner and I to have a long weekend away. The cabin only has one room (plus a bathroom with a shower), but it was the perfect size for the two of us for three days. The water is about a two minute walk away - just down the hill and then down a steep staircase. The beach is rocky and nearly all covered at high tide, but we swam and perched on the rocks with our books and sunglasses when the water was up and explored rocks and seaweed when it was low. The fridge was totally sufficient for our couple days of provisions (bought on the mainland, but Durkees, the general store on this part of the island was open even over Labor Day Weekend). Two electric burners was enough to make dinner. We brought our own cast iron, but an array of pots and pans was available.
Every time we ran into Giff by the water he was so nice - and full of excellent recommendations for what to do on the island or on the way home.
The sunrise is worth getting up and climbing down for!

A good get away, but felt a bit misled by the advertising.
Sweet cabin and near beautiful kyacking; however, photos and ad stating 1 bedroom did not make it at all clear that 1 bedroom meant 1 ROOM! That was not anticipated, and a disappointment. Overall we had a good stay. Thank you.

Delightful Cottage Nestled in the Woods on a Cove
We had such a wonderful, relaxing stay at Juli's adorable cabin on Islesboro. Located mid-island, it is a perfect spot from which to bike, walk or tour the island. A short walk to the main general store (one of two). The cabin is equipped with everything you need. Sunrises are gorgeous. Sunsets on the other side of the island (maybe a seven-minute drive) are spectacular! We spent several days at the Pendleton Point beach. A pleasant surprise was that nearly every driver in passing cars waved! This place is a must. Thank you so much, Juli!
