About this house rental
Three story cottage on a quiet, serene lot overlooking Prospect Harbor with views of Corea. Walk down the short steps to the breathtaking ocean scene. This is classic Maine; rugged coastline and crashing surf. Listen to and watch the lobster fishermen and women as they haul their traps getting ready to sell you the freshest Maine lobster around. The house was built in 2004 by a local carpenter who happens to be on your house management team! This house is clean, has a fully stocked kitchen, all linens, is well kept and ready for your enjoyment.
Why battle the crowds on Mount Desert Island when you can stay on the Schoodic Peninsula and do day trips to Bar Harbor? Besides, we have the lovely Schoodic section of Acadia with gorgeous, moss lined hiking and wide biking trails. You are likely to see porpoises, seals, and all manner of sea birds. A moose? Perhaps. Deer? Very likely. Foxes, rabbits, coyotes and regularly...bald eagles.

If you like to relax, rent this beautiful home! We sat in the chairs by the fire & watched birds, harbor porpoises, bald eagles, squirrels, & deer. We saw hummingbirds & dragonflies. Amazing views inside the home, also!

We utilized the fire pit that overlooked the ocean every evening. If you stay in August bring bug spray! We were prepared, and so thankful we did. The flies in the evening became a little aggressive. We enjoyed the fishermen checking the lobster traps, and we were thrilled to see dolphins one evening. Watching the sunrise outside the living room window was breathtaking! The house was exactly as described and well stocked.

Beautiful home exactly like the picture show. We enjoyed the sounds of the ocean all day and night, campfires nightly, and you are located close enough to Acadia, Bar Harbor, and Corea to do any activities we wanted. Host was great and responded to all our questions!!! Great family vacations I would stay again!!!

The check-in process was easy and communication with the property manager was great! She was very friendly! The house was well-stocked and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We only needed to buy a couple of condiments. The lobster pot was a nice bonus! The house also came with some fire wood and we had a few camp fires while we were there. The rocky beach is right in front of the house, so sunrises were beautiful right from the living room or balcony. The house is in a remote area so we would suggest grocery shopping in Ellsworth before getting to the house, but there were a couple well-stocked convenience stores within 10 mins if we needed anything. We would suggest this rental to others!

We enjoyed our time in Maine. The house was just as advertised. We knew we were pushing our luck with the weather. Fortunately we had an incredible weather week. We didn’t see cold or rain until the day we checked out. The house had a lot of room. The location was great for rest and relaxation. We enjoyed watching the boats pass by the front room windows. We spent a lot of time in Schoodic on the trails. It was a great experience.

Lobster Lodge is a beautiful house house with an amazing view. The house is exactly as it appears in the photos - tastefully decorated in a nautical lobster theme, with a fabulous master suite on the second floor and a deck off that bedroom that is the best place to have your morning coffee or afternoon drink. You might be tempted to spend your entire vacation there! The views from the living room, master suite and third floor bedroom can’t even be described. Watching the sunrise from them was a highlight as the lobster boats went out for their day. And you can even see the Prospect Harbor lighthouse from the rocks outside. But the best part of the house is listening to the waves as you fall asleep. It’s truly magical. While the house is definitely a little bit of a trek to shopping, the closeness to Schoodic Point and the adorable town of Winter Harbor is a huge plus. And if you want to go out farther DownEast it’s not far at all. It’s a very special part of Maine that should be visited. Highly recommend Lobster Lodge!!

We can’t say enough about this beautiful property. We enjoyed the gorgeous ocean view while also being nestled in the woods. The property neat and clean and the hosts were pleasant to work with and accommodating. They anticipated all our vacation needs and met them before we even knew what they may be. We also enjoyed the proximity to Acadia, local restaurants, and shopping. This place is a gem and we look forward to staying again in the future.

This secluded hidden gem was well furnished and very clean. Spectacular views of the ocean from living room and fire pit. Very quiet with the occasional humm of a lobsterman’s vessel. Minutes from schoodic loop and eateries. I would highly recommend.

The property is absolutely amazing! Beautiful, quiet location with a view you could stare at for a lifetime. The home is nestled on a beautiful piece of the Maine Coast. Clean, comfortable beds, everything you need is right there in the home for you. The hosts were amazing, sent us texts to check and make sure we had everything we needed and texted recommendations of places to eat, visit and even little local stores to stop by and pick up things we may need. I can not tell you how wonderful this place actually is because words can not give it the credit its due, if you are looking for a place to unwind with family or partner or friends, this is it. I already miss the sound of the waves hitting the rocks at night while drifting off to a wonderful nights sleep. 10 out of 10, would recommend to anyone wanting to disconnect from the world for a bit, don't worry you still have great WIFI.

The Lobster Lodge has an incredible ocean view accompanied by the surround sound of crashing waves which can be enjoyed whether you are indoors or outdoors. Surrounding area is quaint and very Maine-ish! Spend a fair amount of time in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park which is an easy drive roughly an hour away.
The house is tastefully decorated with a lobster theme, very private, has a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, very responsive host, and can I say once more–an incredible view!

Terrific experience all around. Stayed 5 nights in mid-September and enjoyed the quiet harbor with beautiful waterfront views of lobster boats, starry skies, and unforgettable sunrises. Nearby lobster co-ops were a favorite. Very close access to Schoodic Acadia for sightseeing and hiking without all the crowds of the main Acadia. An easy hour drive to Bar Harbor or main Acadia but those were both a little too crowded for our liking. Allison the house manager is very helpful and responsive. The house had great beds and everything we needed.

This is a special place. The house and property are perfect in every way. It was so clean!! Our kids loved having their own space (ages 5 and 7) on the third floor. They thought that was so cool! Allison was extremely helpful to us with figuring out the best things for our family while we were there. Even things we didn’t know about that ended up being our most favorite parts!
If you are at the home on a Sunday,Monday or even Tuesday be a little more prepared than we were for eating in at the house. Most restaurants close to the house are closed those days.
We went to Mount Desert Island for a day and realized how special the schoodic side was. We definitely didn’t expect those crowds on the other side of Acadia. Schoodic had the most perfect hikes for us and the kids, Allison recommended the best kid friendly ones even. They were stunning in every way!
We enjoyed Cadillac mt and bar harbor, we found it extremely cool to take the ferry from winter harbor to bar harbor shopped and ate and rode back.
Everything about this vacation was such a neat experience! Even if we just stayed at the home it would have been enjoyable, the kids loved how the tides would change and they would explore down by the water for hours. Thank you so much for sharing this home with our family!

Amazing House with Gorgeous Views!
We had the perfect vacation! This home is beautiful and fully stocked with anything and everything you could possibly need. It's located on the bay with amazing views (we saw seals and a small whale right in front of the house!). Prospect Harbor is a quaint fishing village and only about a 10 minute drive to the beautiful Schoodic side of Acadia. We also took the ferry (45 min. ride) from Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor one day. From the ferry we saw seals, a pod of dolphins and a bald eagle. Evenings were spent around the fire pit roasting marshmallows, playing Uno and listening to the waves crash. Alison, the property manager, was very helpful and informative--providing great suggestions! This place is truly magical and we will definitely be booking this VRBO again!

Great location and very nice place
This is a great location for exploring the Schoodic and not too far from Acadia National. The house was clean, had everything we needed and a beautiful sunrise view. We enjoyed experiencing the tidal changes and looking at the stars. The washer was down while we were there but Alison did a couple of loads for us to get us through. She was great to work with! We recommend sunset from Schoodic Head and check out Castine Kayak’s Night Bioluminescence and star gazing paddle. It was amazing! The whole area is beautiful and I highly recommend this rental.

Perfect Location
Our stay at Lobster Lodge was absolutely wonderful. It is very conveniently located by Acadia Nat. Park, Winter Harbor, Birch Harbor, Prospect Harbor and Corea. We spent most of our time hiking. There are great trails in the area outside of the park with minimal traffic. We did visit Bar Harbor one day which was enough. Even in October, it was very crowded. We loved being on the Schoodic Peninsula.

Our family has vacationed many times in the Bar Harbor area and the Schoodic Peninsula has all the beauty of Maine coast without the crowds.
Wish everyone could experience the sights and sounds of the Lobster House: full moon on the water with the rhythmic sounds of the waves! The home was clean with all the supplies we needed to start our adventure. Alison was quick to respond, helpful and understanding when we needed to leave the last night due to a death in the family. AMAZING House with beautiful views
Our stay was AMAZING! The house is in the perfect location along the shore, in a private wooded area. We relished in listening to the waves crash on the rocky shore and hearing sea birds fly overhead. Our hosts were so gracious, ensuring we had everything we needed including recommendations for restaurants along our drive to the house. Friends are asking for referrals for this property based on our beautiful photos. Schoodic Penisula proved to be a great place for our vacation…close to Acadia, but away from the crowds. Highly recommend. We hope to come back!

Paradise on the Coast for a Week
Wow! We absolutely loved our stay. The location of the home is right on the coast. The views from the home were perfect to enjoy a rising sun or just to watch your kids play on the rocky beach.
The home itself was lovely! So many windows and so much light. Many different spaces to enjoy...reading, playing, thinking, cooking, etc. Also, the overall location of Schoodic Peninsula was great since this was the quieter area of Acadia National Park. Some great nearby restaurants. Also, Alison, the property manager, was the best ever! She went out of her way to help us.

We arrived to find the view even more fantastic than the pictures can show. The house is equipped with everything you need and was extremely clean. It housed our party—3 adults and 4 kids—perfectly with a room to spare. We enjoyed nearby Winter Harbor and Schoodic Point is a must-see attraction! We’ll certainly book again.

Fantastic oceanside house, full access to Schoodic & MDI
We are two adults, one teen, and we fully enjoyed our week in this house. We were there in a record heat wave as well as a cold spell, 45 degrees of difference, and we had fans and tons of windows to open, as well as warm comforters & a gas fire, and everything in between.
We took the ferry one day to Bar Harbor and took the free Acadia bus to hike and to sand beach. It was so crowded on the island that we opted to bike and hike and hang out at Schoodic Point the rest of the time (about 15-20 minute drive from the house, easy, close, and uncrowded).
Alison is a kind, attentive, and helpful host and property manager. We’d definitely stay at this house again.
The absolute best thing about this house is that even though it’s on a harbor, it’s near open ocean and you can hear waves all day and at night, best sound ever.
