Elegant home and surroundings. Convenient proximity to downtown mall. And quiet, very quiet: a quality I treasure.

Sue, the owner, provided us with elegant Southern hospitality and grace. It’s close to the pedestrian mall so a car isn’t needed to go to dinner.

The house is as advertised. It is an older home with stairs to get to your bedroom. I found the bed to be a little too bouncy and creaky for my liking. I am glad I was the only one in it.
Location is great. So easy to walk downtown. You do have to park on the street so be prepared for that.

Wonderful bedroom in a beautiful home. A short walk to downtown restaurants and shops. A great location to visit Monticello or the wine trail! The host is delightful! The “continental” breakfast with fresh baked treats daily is a perfect way to start your day!

Sue is a wonderful person and was a joy to see welcoming us in and out from our various adventures in Cville. We would stay here again in a moment. Breakfasts were delicious homemade pastries and breads that I am still thinking about :)

We just returned from a memorable visit to the Cape Foster residence in Charlottesville. The residence is in an excellent location just a few blocks off the downtown mall area, super convenient to restaurants and local shops without the need to drive. Sue is an absolutely outstanding hostess and we both sincerely enjoyed her hospitality during our two-night stay. The residence and accommodations are exactly as described -- spacious and very comfortable. Sue provided scrumptious continental breakfasts both mornings in her beautiful dining room, fresh fruit and baked goods. We both found the Cape Foster house to be a great accommodation, only amplified by Sue's gracious and hospitable manner. Sue's communication was also excellent throughout the process and there were no issues. Her insights on local restaurants were also spot-on. We both hope to plan a return visit to the Cape Foster.

Perfect place to stay near Charlottesville Historic Downtown. Quiet neighborhood and very walkable. Would highly recommend.

We were in C’ville to attend a concert at the Paramount Theater located in the Downtown Pedestrian Mall. It’s only 5 minute walk. We spent a good bit of time enjoying some of the great restaurants at the mall (Petit Pois, Tilmans, Crushed Pad, The Nook and an Italian place) all with outside dining. So handy to walk back and forth to restaurants and shops from the house. Monticello, Carter Mountain Orchard and local trails are only 15-20 minutes away by car. We had a parking pass to park across from the house. The owner, Ms Sue is on site and lovely to interact with. She provided a delicious continental breakfast. All in all a wonderful Fall getaway for us.

We were attending a concert at Ting Pavilion and the location was perfect. We walked to the venue easily. Along the walk there are many places to stop, visit, eat and drink.
Sue is a wonderful host - very welcoming and knowledgeable about Charlottesville. She also provided a delicious breakfast and warm conversation. We will definitely stay again!

Excellent stay with Sue who is a great host. A charming home in a convenient location made for a comfortable stay while we moved out daughter to grad school at UVA.

My wife and I spent two nights at Cope-Foster when I arrived in town to start a new job. The neighborhood has an upscale feel, a stone's throw from the Downtown Mall.
Sue Foster is a very welcoming hostess. Her home is beautiful, with an abundance of art and antiques.
Although she said she was providing a "light breakfast", it was quite hearty: fresh fruit and yogurt, a hard boiled egg, delicious bread and muffins, bacon and orange juice, as well as coffee and tea. Breakfast is served in her sun-filled formal dining room.
Our quarters were quite spacious, with a sitting area, desk, king sized bed and large bathroom.
We would certainly return.

This 100+ year old house with modern features is just a couple of blocks from the downtown mall. The room was spacious and comfortable. The owner was flexible with having breakfast ready on our schedule, served a great meal, and was warm and friendly. We highly recommend this place and will be staying with Miss Sue again in the future.

The home is conveniently located within walking distance to the mall, which is pretty much what we needed for this stay. Parking is along the street and didn't have any issues. The home was nostalgic as it is decorated similarly to my late grandparents; I absolutely loved seeing all the east Asian decor and aspire for that kind of collection! Sue was such an amazing hostess. We enjoyed having discussions with her and really enjoyed the continental breakfast each day she prepared. The master bedroom and everything is as pictured; we had everything we needed. Keep in mind this home is older, so you're gonna hear the creaks when you walk around. The little fans in the room were perfect white noise. Also, the room doesn't get completely dark, so if you need darkness, I suggest an eye mask. We plan to return to stay here next time we come to Charlottesville!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Bed & Breakfast right off of the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. Sue was a gracious host who made a wonderful breakfast each morning. Our room and restroom were very large, well-decorated and had everything we needed. Will definitely try to stay here again on future trips!

Clean and conveniently located in historic downtown district. Our host, Sue, could not be more accommodating. Made great breakfasts every morning. Had the run of the house. Many antiques so not great for children.

My stay here was lovely. The owner is very helpful and prepared a wonderful breakfast each day for me. The house is beautiful and filled with art and objects that create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. The room with en-suite bath was large and elegant. The house is centrally located so you can easily walk to the Downtown Mall and up to Main Street to campus. Highly recommended.

While the accommodation was very comfortable, in a convenient and walkable location, was as described, and met all my needs, the significant memory of this stay will be the host, Ms Sue. She’s a woman with an interesting story and I was delighted to make her acquaintance.

Meticulous and well maintained historic home filled with period furniture and collectibles just a few blocks from the downtown pedestrian mall offering lots of dining and shopping opportunities. Perfect location for exploring Charlottesville, Monticello, and lots of area vineyards. Zoned parking in the neighborhood was easy using the parking pass provided. The host is in residence full time but very respectful of our privacy while being a wealth of information about the area. A very nice continental breakfast was offered every day. It wasn’t important to us but there was no TV in our room. However, we were able to catch the news on a TV in the common area.

Room is gorgeous, and roomy, the whole house is beautiful. Excellent location, walking distance to all and the host was so helpful in guiding us to all the best locations. We were there for a wedding, staying here made the weekend more perfect.

Beautifully appointed 19th century property just a few blocks from Historic Downtown Mall. Large sitting area. Large bathroom with double sink vanity. Sue (host) is very charming and attentive without being intrusive. Will stay here again when we return to Charlottesville.

Beautiful, Relaxing Property!
My husband and I stayed here for our babymoon trip and were very happy with the home and location! Sue was very kind, and we loved the continental breakfasts she put out each morning! The house and room were beautifully decorated with antiques. The house is a very comfortable walking distance from the Charlottesville pedestrian shopping district, and just a couple of minutes from the UVA campus. It was the vacation we needed before baby #2 arrives. I've already recommended this property to family and friends!

Great home, even better host!
Our stay with Sue was great. She was very warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, made sure we had a great breakfast each morning, and gave us some recommendations to explore in town. The house was beautiful, well taken care of, and in a great location - within 5 minutes walk of the main part of town and a short drive of Monticello, many vineyards, hiking, etc. I would highly recommend staying with Sue and will be recommending her to friends in the future.

Great room in a comfy in-town home
We spent one night at Sue's lovely home in downtown Charlottesville, VA. The room upstairs is really a very spacious suite, with a sitting area in an elevated section on one side and a large, king bed on the other, with an entire bathroom to the right. It was very roomy, comfortable, and well appointed. There were many areas to sit (two queen anne chairs, plus two other chairs in front of the bed), a older, antique writing desk to use if you have a laptop, a strong wifi signal, and it was very tastefully decorated to an early-to-mid-20th century feel. Sue was extremely friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the area.
We were supposed to be there for two nights but, because of travel plans necessarily changing, we were only able to stay for one night. Because we prepaid, I assume there will be no discussion or attempt for reimbursement for the night we did not stay. That is one of the unfortunate downsides of trying to plan a trip while also accounting for interruptions or changes that can occur over a 10-day span. The VRBO paradigm can be a bit unforgiving.
If you don't mind staying in a home with hosts, this is an excellent option while exploring the C'ville area. You are directly downtown so access to anything in the historic district is well within walking distance. Heading out to other historic areas (like Monticello or others) is also extremely convenient.
Parking is a bit challenging with the host providing a parking permit card to hang off your rearview mirror. If no spots are available when you arrive, you must park hard to the right in the shareable existing driveway, which may require a passenger to exit before pulling in close to the side of the house. But these are concessions you sometimes have to make while visiting or staying in downtown locations. It was not a problem for us.
Overall it was a very comfortable stay and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Charlottesville area.

A great experience!
Drew, the property manager, was responsive and very helpful. Sue, the owner of this house, made us feel right at home. We cannot say enough good things about Sue, her fresh and delicious breakfasts, and all-around wonderful hostess. Her home is so beautiful! We hope to stay with her again soon.

Such a lovely home....!!
One of our nicest "homestay" experiences...! The house is clean, comfortable, delightfully decorated and situated within walking distance of many of the exciting things that Charlottesville has to offer. The owner is lovely and was extremely accommodating for all of our needs. Our trip focus was a visit to Monticello and exploration of the area wineries. So staying downtown, only 15 min. from Monticello and within 20 min. of many of the fabulous wineries throughout the area made it all convenient, simple and absolutely perfect......!!!!
