This home is very large with plenty of space to spread out in. Nice fenced in yard for pets and plenty of amenities to keep everyone occupied. Fantastic location in the Green Mountain National Forest with plenty of hiking nearby. Conveniently located near Middlebury.

The place was great, clean, and spacious for our family. Visited with toddlers and infants and we felt really safe. the area is also very centric to a number of cities and happening towns.

Wonderful property with amazing hiking trails close by. Great place to stay if you are visiting Middlebury College.

This is truly a property that keeps on giving. We stayed in the summer, when the hiking and outdoors are great. Our dogs loved the fenced in backyard, and the location in Ripton is stupendous. Their are well-known trails throughout the National Forest, and a couple of lesser known trails within walking distance (we see you SPirit In Nature!).
The house itself is very comfortable. The kitchen is built to support a large group (two fridges!) and there are many nooks to explore and hide out. Everything was clean.
The Game Room? Don't get me started. Fun for all ages.

Convenient to Middlebury, we brought family and Godparents together to celebrate our daughter graduating from Middlebury College. The house is comfortable and spacious. Large, well-equipped kitchen. Hosts were great -- very responsive, helpful, and clear communication. This was a great find -- highly recommend.

Great house with lots of different types of sleeping spaces. Plenty of space to eat, gather, relax and play. Close to the road, but backyard space is nicely fenced.

The house is huge and beautiful! So much fun playing all the downstairs games and finding the secret room. Made sâmores on bonfire and loved the hot tub. The only negatives were close to road and when out at fire pit it could be noisy. Also the popcorn machine had popcorn pieces and kernels still in it. We werenât using it anyway but maybe housekeeping overlooked this time. The good completely outweighs the bad this house is truly one of a kind and a great experience for families.

Quiet Time.
The house is HUGE! It is very cool with so many areas to get away from each other or areas to gather and enjoy card games, pool games or just some time outside. The hosts are excellent. On our stay the Internet was knocked out, probably a storm, and the host even showed up to coordinate with the internet company and get us WiFi again, which we needed for our jobs. What a great place and great host.

comfortable, roomy... couldn't enjoy outdoor spaces - seating, eating, fire pit - because of mosquitoes but plenty of room inside. Close to nie hikes and walks in the woods

Great VT Getaway for All Seasons
My family highly enjoyed their stay at this property during late Nov time frame. Very comfortable house, lots of room and most excellent game room. Easy check in. Many trails n waterfalls nearby, good restaurants nearby in Middlebury. My only regret is I didnât use the hot tub this trip. Next time! I recommend property to anyone.

We really enjoyed the home/lodge. A lot of great space. Especially liked the side fenced in yard/hot tub, and the game room.

Great Vermont vacation with friends
Our group had a great time at this Ripton, VT house. It is even more beautiful than the photos. There were plenty of rooms for all of us, and everyone was very comfortable. We had fun playing in the game room, relaxing in the hot tub, sitting by the fire and under the pergola adorned with grape vines. Also enjoyed hiking across the street.

Great family house
Our three generational family of 10 truly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful River Stone House. From the lower level game room, to a closet full of games & puzzles, to an outdoor hot tub & two indoor jacuzzis, there was plenty of space to spread out and something for everyone to do. Kitchen is adequately stocked and has two refrigerators with freezers, which we really needed. Would have been nice to have ice cube trays & a broom with dust pan.
The two sets of hot tub instructions need updating because they were conflicting & the cover was not able to be clipped as we were told to do. Additionally one set of check-in instructions said 4:00, another said 4:30.
Owner provided a welcome plate of cookies & 4 pack of ginger ale which was a nice touch. Kris was most helpful offering suggestions of places to visit & things to do in the area. All in all, a delightful vacation. Our 6 year old grandson gives the house 10,000 stars! â¨â¨â¨ đ

What a wonderful stay!
River Stone Lodge was nothing short of amazing. The owners of the lodge were quick and attentive with a small air conditioner issue upon arrival. The surrounding areas are just beautiful and we had plenty to do while staying in Ripton. The game room was the hot spot for all. Dinner's around the large dining table spent with family enjoying large meals was great. We fully enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean and there was plenty of games to keep us busy. Thank you for the wonderful stay Kris and Ben!!

Fantastic home and fantastic location!
The property is great and the location very convenient to the lake, rivers and trails as well as the town of Middlebury. The new entry stairs are a big upgrade. Our only recommendation would be screens on the kitchen windows as the AC doesnât reach that area the best and it would be nice to open those windows when it is warm. Overall, we love this property. This was our second visit here. Thanks!

Fantastic home, setting and host
Stayed for 5 nights over Memorial Day weekend. The home is even better than it looks. So much space, very comfortable, and well furnished across the board. The back yard living area was spacious and comfy. Perfect for late night star gazing or a quiet glass of wine.

A Wonderful, Unique House!
I highly recommend staying at this unique house. We really enjoyed the hot tub, and having an enclosed back yard was particularly helpful with our toddler son. There was a lot for us to explore inside, and our kids had a great time during a snowy day finding the hidden room. Lots of great hikes within a short drive of the location. Especially if you have a family with small children, this was a great stay to "get out of the city" for a while.

Great home for gatherings of all kinds.
The house is a great getaway with lots to do. We lucked out with awesome weather so spent a lot of time outside. But plenty to do indoors as well. We played pool, fooseball, poker and a few other games. The back yard is big enough for activities as well. Overall we all had a great time here and would recommend definitely staying here.

Spacious house in Vermont with easy access.
We had an amazing stay with our kids. The house was spacious and conveniently located on VT-125. There were plenty of family friendly hiking options nearby (Texas Falls, Robert Frost Trail) and the kids had fun in the game room and hot tub. We would definitely stay again.

Wonderful Getaway with Plenty of Space and Beautiful Location
Our family of people 70+, adults, teenagers and a dog had a delightful and restful time at this lovely home. Before arriving, Kris was terrific about answering questions. There is plenty of space to allow for everyone to do things they wanted to do either together or individually without disturbing others--playing pool, working puzzles, reading, watching movies, cooking, hanging out and talking. Rooms were spacious, seating plentiful, and the house well stocked. The fenced in yard was great for our dog and we all enjoyed the hot tub. The house is close to many hiking trails, including paths you can walk to. Other reviews noted the property is close to the road. While this is true, it wasn't an issue at all; we enjoyed time outside both in the open space at the front and in the fenced in yard and road noise was minimal and not disturbing. The wi-fi worked well (essential for our teens and family movie nights) and the tip to turn on wi-fi calling before arriving was helpful. The loft (and the secret room) was a hit with the teenagers. Thanks for a wonderful getaway!

Big house in beautiful Vermont
Our family had a lovely stay. The house is big and the space allows for everyone to engage in their favorite activity without affecting other guests. We had at all times someone playing pool, while others were reading on the comfy couch and/or out for hikes.
The fenced backyard is great for dogs that can be left outside without concerns. A couple of minor comments: the house is very close to the road, with some traffic noise. Lastly, the master bedroom, while beautiful and big, does not have full walls ( one must see it to understand!), therefore it lacks some privacy.

Perfect secluded vacation in the National Forest
We were looking for a secluded vacation house to spend a week with the immediate family and grandparents. This was absolutely perfect. The property and house are huge with 4 stories and a fenced in backyard. The kids and adults both loved it. Every night we could do something different, pool and cards at the casino style cards table, bonfire, hot tub. And every night we were able to cook dinner for the family in the fully furnished kitchen. And don't get us started on the accommodations. More comfortable than anything we've stayed at before.
Cell service is spotty, and the hosts will recommend turning on wifi calling which fixed all issues. If you do stay at this property, just remember that WIFI calling must be enabled while still in service coverage, before arriving to save a drive into town!
Overall this stay is excellent and highly recommended!

Amazing Getaway
The lodge is a phenomenal property for families or friends, especially with dogs. The fenced in back yard is perfect, the house is enormous, spacious and well designed. There is good kitchen equipment (pots, pans, blender, and two grills). The owners are responsive and attentive when needed. The house is centrally located and close to great hiking spots, some small towns and shops, and across the street there is a gorgeous river worth exploring. Donât forget to make time to star gaze and soak in the hot tub!

Perfect getaway and great hosts!
We just returned from a week at this property. There were 9 of us (4 adults, 4 children, 1 infant). There was more than enough room. The property includes an original house, and then an extension. It is sort of like 2 separate houses in a way, and it was perfect for our two families. The backyard is fuly fenced in, so it was pet friendly. Inside, we enjoyed the whole house sound system, the hot tub, and the game room. Nearby, we enjoyed the Interfaith trail on the Middlebury river. We spent a few mornings there. We also spent time at Mt. Philo, Branbury St Park, Burlington (~45 minutes away). We also had a chane to meet Kris, the host, at her dairy farm. She and Ben gave us a special tour. It was the highlight of the trip for us. THroughout the trip, Kris was in communication. Her recommendations on local area attractions was top notch. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. In a summer where vacation plans looked to be spoiled by Covid, we found this gem and ended up with a very memorable week.

Special Vacation
Our goal of this vacation was to get together as a family during these Covid times. Great Grandma, Grand Dad & Mom, Children and Spouses and new Grand Baby (2 months) and this home achieved our goal of being together and also having our private space. So many rooms to explore and entertain in. Outdoor fire pit for evening camp fires, great location for access to awesome hikes. Very clean and comfy! Special memories created this past week in a beautiful setting, thank you!

Beautiful Home in an AwesomeLocation
We visited with 2 families of 4. The house was clean and beautiful and a wonderful space for 2 families. The way the bedrooms are set up it provides privacy for each family in their own sleeping quarters. The Children finding the secret room was a highlight and after our outdoor adventures all day it was wonderful to come back to the hot tub and fire pit! Kris provided us with a great list of things to do and we did them all. Favorites for us were LaReau Park and Warren Falls. The kids loved jumping off the rocks at both! Kris was also super responsive during our stay! We had an amazing time and are very thankful for this fun yet peaceful vacation during the pandemic! We look forward to returning!

Excellent stay, a few easy changes would make it 5 star
The house is beautiful, very well maintained, and more than comfortable for a large group! The area is very peaceful and a short drive to a nice state park. A few changes would make it 5 star. A few of the beds and mattresses upstairs need to be replaced. Some of the beds are very creaky and one of the larger mattresses is sunk in. The gameroom is huge and has a ton of fun stuff for people of all ages. At least for our stay though, the gameroom had a strong odor that some people found so off-putting they wouldn't even go in. Overall, a beautiful house and enjoyed our stay.

Peaceful Quarantine
The house was extremely large with several outdoor seating areas to enjoy. Fenced in area was perfect for our dog. Everyone was comfortable with sleeping arrangements and kids and adults alike enjoyed the downstairs game room with a very nice pool table. Owners were quick to respond and address and questions. All-in-all it was the perfect quarantine getaway.

Great Vermont Home
What a fantastic place! Two families of four stayed for a week, though the house could accommodate many more. The location is wonderful --so many great hikes and lakes and swimming holes to explore, and close enough to Middlebury for quick trips and Burlington for a longer day trip. The house was clean, everything was just as it should be and the whole process was as simple and straightforward as could be. The gameroom in the basement has a foosball table and a pool table along with some other games. And the outside area was also great -- we made smores two a couple of times around the campfire and enjoyed reading and hanging out under the pergola. And the fact that it was fenced made it great for our dog, too. We'd go back in a heartbeat! Thank you!

Lovely Stay
We had a wonderful and memorable time staying at this house. It was spacious, well equipped for a family, and most importantly extremely clean. The location was a good balance of being remote and also close enough to all of the activities we wanted to do. Kris and Ben were wonderful hosts and very gracious - the farm tour was a highlight of the trip!

This house is nothing short of spectacular! The kitchen is bright and cheery with all the basics. (Use the silver fridge the other one isnât as cold)
The living room is so cozy and family/friends friendly. All the many bedrooms are great and the huge master with the poster bed is just stunning. The jet tub is a treat.
Thereâs a huge game room with a pool table etc etc. Our family had poker night and we just had a great time.
About 20 minutes to Middlebury. Quiet and peaceful. Yes you hear a car here and there but itâs nothing.
We Loved our stay and Chris was very helpful.
