About this house rental
Our home is in an elevated position nestled into bush land with amazing views over looking Adventure Bay and South Bruny National Park.
Our home has three bedrooms, two with queen sized beds. The other with a double/single bunk combo. This room also has a single trundle bed.
The kitchen is well equipped with all the essentials including electric fry pan, sandwich press, coffee machine etc.
For the safety of our smallest guests, we have chosen not to leave matches or lighters in the house. If you wish to use the outdoor fire, we ask that you please bring lighter/matches with you and keep out of reach of children during your stay.
The living area features a 55" television and DVD player. A small selection of DVDs are at left the house.
Outside you'll find a gas BBQ on the deck along with an old fashioned grill and grassed terrace. We have resident wallabies who come to the back door each afternoon to be fed and wallaby food is left in the house for you to feed them if you wish.
Access to the property is via an elevated driveway that requires some negotiation and can be slippery when wet once you're at the top of the driveway the views will be with it! If you are not confident with the driveway, parking is available at the bottom of the drive adjacent to the shed. The driveway has been improved in recent years but we cannot change how steep it is. Please don't suggest sealing the driveway or changing it as it is cost prohibitive on an island like Bruny Island.
NOTE: We do not supply wifi and while we appreciate some people cannot live without wifi while on holidays, due to supply issues on the island we wont be installing it. Both Telstra and Optus have good mobile coverage at the house if you need to connect to the outside world.
Due to water restrictions and the cost of tank water, we do not supply a washing machine. There is a laundry tub in the bathroom should you need to hand wash anything.
Use of the top bunk: we ask that parents supervise children when using the bunk beds and the top bunk is not recommended for children under 8 years. Sheets will be left on the top bunk but not completely made up - this is to allow parents to make decisions regarding the use of the bunk with their kids.
Children staying at the property need to be supervised. This includes the use of the bunk room, do not stand on the trundle bed to get to the top bunk. Children are not permitted to eat or drink on the couch - we've just replaced the couch for the third time because of avoidable stains and damage.
Children need to also be supervised when feeding the wallabies.
Some photos on this listing are indicative - we do not supply wine or cheese platters. The linen on the beds may be differ from those in the photos as it it laundered after each guest.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Does the house have heating?
A: The house has a large split system reverse cycle unit in the lounge room that heats the whole house. There is also a wall heater in the lounge. Extra blankets are also on the beds.
Q: How close is the house to the beach? Can you walk to the beach?
A: The beach is at the end of the driveway across the road next to Pennicotts Seafood Restaurant. It is within walking distance.
Q: What coffee is provided?
A: The Vittoria coffee machine is available for use and a selection of coffee pods will be left for your visit. If you have a favourite flavoured coffee, we recommend bringing these with you.
Q: Do you provide firewood and matches?

Q: Can the driveway be accessed in a normal car?
A: Yes, the driveway is steep but can be accessed in a normal small car. There is a tight turn at the bottom of the driveway that requires a wide turn and the driveway can be slippery when wet. It is cost prohibitive to seal this driveway and would continue to be slippery if sealed so there are no plans to upgrade the driveway.
Q: Do you supply wi-fi at the house?
A: Due to supply issues on Bruny Island we don’t have wifi connected at the house. There is good mobile reception for the major carriers so if you need to access the outside world, mobile data can be used.
Q: Why do guests need to let you know how many rooms are required?
A: Rooms will be made up and accessible based on the number of guests on your booking. We have had to implement this policy due to previous guests bring extra people or using all of the rooms for no apparent reason. The cleaners order linen, guest amenities and water based on the guest numbers in each booking. If you don't not specify, the cleaners will make up the number of rooms based on common arrangements - ie most 2 guest bookings are couples and will share a room.
NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO ADVISE YOUR REQUIREMENTS AND NEED ROOMS UNLOCKED AFTER CHECK IN, YOU MAY BE CHARGED A CALL OUT FEE FOR THE ROOMS TO BE UNLOCKED AND BEDS MADE UP!
Q: Do you supply linen and towels?
A: All bed linen is supplied. Bath towels and face washers are also provided for the number of guests specified on the booking. Please do not remove any linen from the house or take the bath towels to the beach.

A: Shampoo, conditioner and body wash and soap are provided. Toilet paper is supplied based on the number of guests and nights staying. Additional supplies can be purchased from the Adventure Bay Store.
Q: Why don’t you have a washing machine in the house?
A: Due to water restrictions and being on tank water, we do not have a washing machine in the house. Supplying a washing machine would result in us having to raise our prices and we’d prefer to keep our nightly rate as low as possible. There is a laundry tub in the bathroom if you need to handwash any items. Please note we do not supply laundry detergent.
Q: How do we get the keys to enter the house?
A: The keys are accessed via a lockbox at the house. The code for your visit will be emailed to you prior to your visit. Please ensure you check your email prior to your visit as this email will provide you with a lot of information in addition to the access code.
Q: What time is check in and check out?
A: Check in is 2pm onwards. Check out is 10am. This gives our cleaners a chance to reset the house to ensure it’s clean for your visit and the next group of guests.
Q: Do you allow pets at the house?
A: Due to the abundance of native wildlife who visit the property, we don’t allow domestic pets on the property.
Q: Do you allow extra guests?
A: Extra guests are welcome, however you will need to let me know on your booking how many guests are at the house so that the correct amount of supplies can be left for your visit. Additional guests are $50 per person, per night.
Q: What animals visit the property?
A: The local wallabies generally visit the property in the morning and afternoon and are very tame. Wallaby food will be left at the house if you want to feed them. Occasionally, you’ll see rabbits and echidnas drop by.
Q: Do you have any supplies for younger children?
A: A high chair and port-a-cot are supplied at the house. Some bedding is available for the port-a-cot, however we recommend bringing the linen that you prefer for the younger guests.
Q: Is there a bath at the property?
A: The bathroom has a shower only, no bath.
Q: Is the property accessible to everyone?
A: Please take the time to review the photos of the property carefully before choosing to stay. The inside of the property is all on one level, however access to the property is via a steep driveway and steps at the back of the property. The property is in an elevated position.

Our family enjoyed a wonderful Bayview, Bruny Island stay.
Both the view and Wallaby sightings did not disappoint.
Thank you again for opening your house to us.

We enjoyed Bruny Island immensely. The beach house was well equipped for our needs, plus it is ideally located for the Pennicott cruise base and also for the Fluted Cape walk, both of which we utilised. Loved feeding the local wallabies. The driveway was a challenge but we managed to get our FWD vehicle up safely.

Fantastic to be part of nature with friendly wallabies nearby. Neat house with great deck and fantastic views in a brilliant location away from the crowds.

Need a 4wd to get up drive. Make sure you check how many rooms because they are locked. A bit dusty. Terrible shower. Good location.

We had a great 3 night stay on Bruny island. The home was very well appointed and was large enough for all 6 of us.
My daughter loved feeding the local Wallabies including 2 albino ones.
Great location, in adventure bay and very close to Bruny cruises and some great walking trails.
The only negative was the drive way was a bit of a challenge for a people mover van.

Bruny Experience
Had a wonderful time at Bruny Island. Loved the shack feel of the property. The children were entertained well by the very tame wallabies.

Beautiful.....we'd definitely stay again
Absolutely beautiful location and very peaceful. The house is very clean, tidy, comfortable and well stocked. The wallabies that greeted us at the house were absolutely delightful and super friendly. I wanted to take them all home!! The only downside is the very steep driveway....in the wet a standard car would have no hope of getting up. Just a tiny downer.....overall we'd definitely stay there again if we're lucky enough to get back to Tasmania.

Fantastic location, walk to the water, some small touches could make it perfect
A nice spot at the end of the road at Adventure Bay, Bayview has a nice view and a great deck to hang out on. The three bedrooms are comfortable (one bed has exceptionally noisy springs and should be replaced), and the lounge and dining area fine for 4 people comfortably.
There's a good sized TV, but most of the DVDs are kids movies so bring a few DVDs. Telstra data is available, but we found it too slow for Netflix (or Disney+ or Prime or catchup TV).
There are lots of wallaby's and you'll probably see the white wallabies around if you're there a couple of days. We saw lots of birds, including an owl one evening as well.
Four adults for four nights was ok, but the kitchen isn't really set up for multiple days of meal cooking; there aren't any pasta/eating bowls, the knives and utensils are very average, and the stove is temperamental.
The property lacked enough t-towels and there wasn't sufficient toilet paper for 4 adults for 5 days. While we understand garbage is an issue on Bruny, we couldn't find any extra garbage bags so the bin was smelly after a few days. Both TV and DVD remotes need new batteries (we searched, couldn't find any) and it was great to have nespresso pods, but 8 pods for 4 adults over 5 days was a little stingy.
You'll note I have given the property 4 stars, and I think if the owners spent a bit of time thinking about how a group of adults would use the house and provisioned accordingly it could be one of the best places to stay in Adventure Bay.

Wallaby House
We loved our stay. Very comfy and very close to bush walks and the sea.
But the wallabies just made it very special as they lined up each morning to greet us at the steps, slept or groomed in the warm afternoon sun and then popped over for sunset drinks!

The house was very comfortable & clean. Perched up on the side of the hill with it's great views & surounded by bush, it's very private & quiet; a great getaway. We enjoyed the experience very much & the wallabies took to us very quickly. The driveway was a challenge but we managed. Overall it's a great place in magical suroundings. Very enjoyable!

Our 4th stay on Bruny. Great aspect and really enjoyed the wildlife - wallabies, wrens and fishing
Great location. Private and convenient. Recommend some decent knives for eating steak and better wine glasses. Thankyou for the breakfast supply (very rare in our experience of air B&Bs)

Beautiful location to take in Bruny Island
Wonderful location perched high on the hill to make the most of the views. We were blessed with brilliant warm weather while on Bruny and appreciated having only a short (steep) walk down to the waters edge. Sadly the serenity was interrupted at 730am each morning by construction noise of a building down hill. It will be a very peaceful place once construction at the neighbours is finished.
The house itself has 3 good sized bedrooms and a large bathroom with washing machine. It has been recently renovated, so felt modern and homely. It would be nice if the screen sliding door was the next to be replaced as it was difficult to slide and still lets the flies in.
Due to its location, it’s on tank water which is still safe to drink but tastes a little different. Luke and Andrea are throughtful enough to provide bottled water for drinking if you prefer. They also provide all other basics for cooking (eg tea, coffee, sugar, flour, rice, sauces) and we picked up some perishables at Kingston before catching the ferry to Bruny Island. (The store in Adventure Bay was also pretty well stocked, so you can pick up extras there too).
Although not being local, Andrea and Luke were easy to contact and able to arrange local assistance from the property managers when we needed it. THANK YOU for having us at Bayview Bruny Island. If we ever get back to that part of the world again we would choose to stay at Bayview again.
