Fantastic location! Comfortable, large, and well-stocked historic house. Perfect space for families, great amenities, and charming character. Ideal for exploring Bar Harbor and enjoying family gatherings.

Such a great fit for a fun filled vacation in Bar Harbor! Ample parking and house amenities… would definitely book again!

La Maisonette was kind of a shot in the dark for us. An older house without A/C in the midst of summer? But we wanted to stay in Bar Harbor and it turned out to be a great choice. The house appeared to have been built in sections, perhaps during different periods so we had fun speculating on what came first. Its location (practically at the intersection of West and Bar so access to the land bridge was easy) made accessing the pleasures of downtown Bar Harbor an easy walk. We parked the cars and only used them to drive to Acadia Park for hiking and climbing. The yard out back was great for the kids to play kickball and badminton. All in all (not counting the high humidity), a great place I would recommend to others.

We loved our stay. Perfect location. Grand old house with its quirks but this comes with an old house. We thought it was relatively clean, comfortable, and nice. We would stay there again. If you are looking for a pristine, modern, upscale type of place this is not it but if you can appreciate this old house you will love your stay.

The location was great, we can’t wait to book it again!

The house had everything. I would book this again in a second.

Our family of 12 (ages 66 - 2) enjoyed our stay. Perfect location! Short drive to Acadia NP. Walking distance to Bar Harbor restaurants, sand bar, shopping and grocery store. Never needed to deal with parking! House is old, but we knew that when we booked it.
Wonderful week.

Location could not be better. Walking distance to grocery store, bike rentals, kayak rentals, restaurants, shuttles, whale watching, tours, etc.
The house has pros and cons. On the pro side, the house is roomy. The kitchen is large and well stocked with cookware. There is wifi and a nice foosball table.
On the con side, the house is in major need of love. The furniture is old and very dusty and of salvage yard quality. Our group had lots of allergy issues due to dust and mildew in the home. The sleeper sofa on the porch doesn't open because the porch isn't wide enough for it. The bedrooms have a college dorm vibe... Many of the doors in the house do not close or even hold in a closed position. The house has not been professionally maintained as evidenced by a hook and eye necessary to keep one of bathroom doors from swinging open. Trust me that it's not a charming feature. The downstairs bathroom has no way to keep you private, so be sure everyone remembers to knock. The shower curtains are also dorm quality and many of the hooks are pulled out. There is a hodge podge of old chairs in the kitchen which get the job done, but you'll get a flashback to college when you rented a house that the owner had given up on. There is considerable rot on the exterior of the home and some gutters that are held up by a makeshift wooden post. That won't affect your stay, but it gives you an idea of the advanced state of neglect. If that doesn't bother you, you will love it.

This large house was a great size for our family group of 10. The proximity to the main streets of Bar Harbor allowed the teenagers to have the freedom to shop or dine on their own. On the downside, the house needs some repairs. For instance, the roof leaked in the closed in porch when it rained. The furniture in the sitting rooms is old and can be thought of as period appropriate, but the cushions on the sofas and chairs have lost their support and are uncomfortable. While the condition of the home and its furnishings need attention, the size and location of the home make it one to consider when visiting Bar Harbor.

Great stay, loved the town and character of the house

This house was nice and large for an extended family. The porch was a great place to hang out in the morning and there was plenty of space for the kids to keep busy and have fun.

We had 12 in our family party- family members ranging from 20 to 55 with significant others stayed. The property is an older property with a lot of character. It easily held the 12 of us. Location was AMAZING! We were directly across from the sand bar connecting the harbor to Bar Island. Steps from all down town locations. Close as can be to Acadia Park. The supermarket is directly behind the house. It was perfect!

Great location but cobwebs, moldy showers, burned out lightbulbs, and a non-working and dirty oven put a damper on a premium-priced experience.

Location is great- easy walk to town- close to Bar Island sand bar walk. Hikes in NP were a great variety. Food in town good.

Three generations of our family enjoyed our stay here. We loved the porch, large kitchen, and plenty of bedrooms and living spaces for spreading out. Easy walk to grocery store and sights of Bar Harbor. Expect some quirks of an old house, enjoy the sights of the surrounding historic district. Loved the quick walk to the sand bar, a great place for kids to explore in the water. Overall, an excellent choice for staying in Bar Harbor.

This beautiful historic home was all that we had hoped for - perfect location, comfortable and clean, and very well stocked.
Our only disappointment was the grill, which was ok for hot dogs, but needing to be repaired. That said, everything else about the house we loved !!

Fabulous location!
This was the perfect place for our large family to stay together (4 months to 60+). There was enough space for everyone to have privacy while also staying connected, sharing meals, playing games, and relaxing. It’s within walking distance of pretty much everything in Bar Harbor, including the shuttle. Access to Bar Island is almost across the street and provided hours of fun for the kids (picture crabs, hermit crabs, starfish…). Just beautiful. The house was well stocked. Our large group appreciated the two kitchens and double sets of washer and dryer. The only thing that bothered me (a bit of a clean freak), was the cleanliness of the home. I don’t think this is a reflection of the owners, who were incredibly gracious and communicated very well, but the cleaners hired to manage turnover. It’s a charming house with tons of character! We also loved the big porch. Thanks Angelique for a wonderful stay!

Great location
Great location. Lotta of room and charm. Make sure to understand no air conditioning - which on most days makes no difference. Would happily stay again.

Bar Harbor Gathering
The house’s location couldn’t be any more convenient to local restaurants, the infamous Bar Island walk, grocery store and the town itself. We (6 adults and 4 kids) had plenty of space and the house was well suited to our need o access multiple trails and daily excursions. Some of the furnishings need updating but we didn’t come to Bar Harbor to stay indoors. There was an enclosed porch surrounding two sides of the property which provided excellent space for games and sharing conversations.

Location location location
Plenty of space with room to spare for me and husband, his son, my two sisters, bro-in-law, and nephew. The house itself has a lot of old-time charm and personality that we all appreciated. Great modern kitchen and gracious dining room for all of us to gather for family dinners at night and we loved having the second small kitchen for overflow storage. I also had laundry room envy. The porch was another prime gathering place (another floor lamp would be welcome) and our favorite TV time was watching our Golden State Warriors win the NBA Championship in the spacious and comfortable living room. The location of the house was perfect walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants, grocery store, shore path and Bar Island. Our east/west coast family had an excellent stay!

Bar Harbor Extravaganza
This house is possibly the best location in Bar Harbor for two families of 5. One block from the grocery store and walking distance to all Bar Harbor has to offer. The house sleeps 10 very comfortably and provides plenty of rooms for families to relax. Expect features of a 130 year old house, such as slanted floors, but those just add to the character of the house. We would love to come back and rent this house again.

Superb location
The house had a beautiful charm with so much space to spread out in! The highlight for our family was the location...Really short walk to restaurants, shopping, groceries, and most importantly, the sand bar at low tide. So much fun!

Wonderful !
The house was as listed and in the best location. Started morning on the porch watching the bay and enjoyed sunset there or on the beach. Could walk everywhere!!! Acadia was just around the corner and we did many of the hikes there. Our only request is a big pot to cook lobsters in!!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful home.

Great Property
Had a great time. Great, spacious property. No complaints. The only things that might have made this trip even better is better lighting in the foosball room and a large comfortable sectional coach with an excessively large tv! Recommended.

Family vacation - 3 generations
The location was wonderful and walking distance to town and biking distance to Acadia. Three generations of our family stayed and had plenty of sleeping space and room for meals with 10-12 people. It was a perfect stay and highly recommend it!

Location can’t be beat
The house is within walking distance if so many things which is great because downtown can get crowded and hard to park in.

Amazing stay in Bar Harbor - wonderful family vacation location!
Our extended family of 7 (3 generations) had an amazing time! What a wonderful home - plenty of room, clean, comfortable, and the location couldn't be better! Steps away from the walk across the low tide bar to the island, super close to lots of shops and restaurants, easy walk to the grocery store. The 5 year olds loved playing hide and seek in this incredible house with lots of great hiding places! Also we loved reading on the front porch - great place for bedtime stories for the kids! Lots of games -- they had such fun learning to play croquet! Kitchen was very well equipped and spacious! Great to have parking too. All communications were easy with prompt responses. We loved La Maisonette and hope to return! What a beautiful part of the country - we had such fun exploring!

Wonderful!
The house was amazing for our family group of 11 people. 6 bedrooms with linens included. So much space to be together and to have alone times in various nooks and crannies. Big backyard for yard games too. Old home charm. 2 kitchens with 2 fridges. 2 washers and dryers. The best part was the location. It was such close proximity to everything in Bar Harbor. We walked into town for breakfasts and dinners and excursions. We were a block or so away from the land bridge. We were also extremely close to Acadia National Park. And the owners were responsive and helpful. I would highly recommend this home! Wonderful trip.

We really enjoyed our stay here and the location was great! Lovely porch to hang out on in mornings and evenings. Great kitchen. We bikied into Acadia from our house with our kids, very close to the carriage Trails. We would stay here again!

Fun In Bar Harbor. Great location
Our family of 12 met in Bar Harbor for a beautiful week of hiking and lobster dinners in Bar Harbor. Great house with plenty of room, comfortable beds and a very well stocked kitchen. We used the second kitchen as a wet bar! Perfect!!
Close to Acadia. Great bus service to Acadia. Beware when hiking cell service is limited making it a bit difficult to coordinate meetings.
Great location for walking to town. The land bridge is one block away and the grocery store is a quick walk through the backyard and across the street.
Thanks for sharing your house with our family.

Even better the second time.
This is a great property in a great location. Easy access to downtown, the park, and shopping. The house is well equipped and has plenty of room for a large group, we had four adult couples and two small children. This was our second stay, the last one four years ago, and we noticed the owner has made investments to upgrade the property, redone bathrooms, new gas grill and fresh paint. It was a great property before and it got better. We’ll be back.

Great location, lots of space to spread out (and get lost)
This house was a great central meeting place for our large group (23) to come and have meals during our weeklong stay in Bar Harbor. It is literally minutes walking distance from downtown, Jordan’s breakfast restaurant, Bridge street crossing to Bar island, and the grocery store. The kitchens are well equipped. The all weather porch was our favorite spot in the house, offering beautiful views and people watching even in the rain. The kids in our group loved all of the hide and seek spots. The adults in our group lived how quiet the bedrooms were (despite creaky floors from 130 year of use :-)).
The only negative thing about the property is that the laundry room and one back bedroom have a slant to the floor, but it honestly has no effect on the stay, just a quirk of an old house.

Warm and inviting home in perfect location
This lovely home is just a short walk to the docks, downtown and the grocery store. It is on a lovely residential street across from Frenchman Bay. The decor is wonderful with oriental rugs and comfortable furniture. The dining room is large and seats lots of people. The kitchen is huge and easy to work in with multiple people at once. There are 2 full refrigerators which is key to storing beverages and food for larger groups. The 4 large bedrooms are terrific with nice comfortable beds, the 2 smaller twin rooms are OK. The bathroom situation on the second floor is a bit awkward but we all managed.
Our favorite room was the wrap around porch where we always had our morning coffee and our evening wine. All in all this is a really great house in a fabulous location. .
