About this house rental
Welcome to the perfect and affordable small family vacation getaway on ever popular Lake Muskoka! This 800 sq. ft., 3 bedroom cottage is cute and as clean as a whistle with all the comfort conveniences of home.
The cozy living room has beautiful lake views and a gas fireplace for cooler evenings and a ceiling fan to make for more comfortable nights on humid summer evenings. The well-equipped kitchen has lake views as well making it enjoyable while prepping and making meals. Although there are seating areas inside for snacking or dining, the place of choice on beautiful summer days will be the deck overlooking the expansive lawn and lake. The cottage is equipped with a whole house water filtration system! Offering clean water for you to enjoy on the hot summer days! The hot water tank is 15 gallons which is normally good for about two showers, then may require 20 - 30 minutes to replenish.
The front or back lawn are great for the kids to play catch or throw a frisbee and the 25 feet of hard packed sand at the waterfront is ideal for young and old alike to safely splash and play. There are rocks marked by a green buoy in front of the property that can easily be swam out to and explored with a snorkel. You can stand on these rocks and the water will come up to your hips. With the property facing south enjoy plenty of sunshine from late morning to sunset.
The property is located in one of the most sought after parts of Lake Muskoka, directly between the towns of Port Carling and Bala. St. Anne’s Catholic Church is a heritage building only two properties away where there is also a municipal dock, an excellent place to view sunsets! Boat parking is provided overnight at the adjacent boat house, with daytime parking available at the municipal dock, or right on your beach!
The country road in front of the cottage is great for scenic afternoon walks or runs and for nature lovers keep your eye out for deer and blue herons, commonly sited weekly. Finally, for avid boaters, you can tour “The Big Three” (Lake Muskoka, Lake Joseph and Lake Rosseau). With it's central location, you can easily access Bala, Port Carling, Bracebridge, or Gravenhurst by lake!
The lake also hosts frequent fishing derbies so needless to say keen fishermen won’t be disappointed. The rich cottage history of vacationing on this famous lake is sure to please the whole family!
Additional:
Up to six guests may be allowed upon approval from owner prior to booking.
Wood for firepit is not supplied by owner. Guests may purchase firewood at a number of locations locally if they wish to use the firepit during their stay - subject to local fire restrictions.

From the beginning the host Stephen was completely amazing. We have such a nice comfortable stay and this cottage!!!

Clean cottage. Bathroom needs upgrading. There was a portable air conditioning unit which placed some water in the hallway. Shoreline pictures showed a nice large dock, however it was not part of the property listing. That is very misleading.

We had a 3 night mini vacation, enjoyed it very much. Love all the amenities included-it was nice not to have to bring sheets, towels, bottled water etc. There's even a Keurig for that much needed coffee! The view is amazing, and the road is fairly quiet for my walks. Would definitely stay here again!!

We had lots of fun. Place was clean and had a well stocked kitchen with proper utensils (much appreciated). Saw some wildlife which the kids loved. This place made for an enjoyable getaway.

Amazing getaway!
Our 5 day stay at this cottage was amazing! Communication with the owner was great, even when the internet went down for a day due to lightning - we were kept up to date. The water was clear and great for swimming! And the kitchen was fully stocked. All in all, a memorable vacation. Would book again!

Port Carling Jem
We stayed at this location from August 7-14/21 and had a wonderful time. Steve was very accommodating and answered all of our questions promptly. Check in was easy and his cottage manual was very helpful. The cottage was clean and well equipped. We created some nice memories here and highly recommend this cottage. Thanks again Steve.

A nice week away!
We had such a great time during our stay here. The kids had such a blast fishing, swimming and just enjoying nature!! What a view!!! Steve was a great help during the booking and check in process. The road was a bit busy while we were there but the wonderful neighbour did warn us and it actually didn't bother us at all! Loved our stay! 🙂

Awesome getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at this property, and hope to return in warmer weather. Cottage is well equipped, clean and location is perfect. We visited over march break and spent most of our time out for walks, trying ice fishing (no luck but still fun), relaxing by the firepit, or using the old school dvd collection. Great neighbours and area. Thank you!

Great place to relax
We rented this property just prior to Christmas. The cottage and property are just as described in the posting. Steve was very responsive to all of our questions. We had a power outage our first night there and Steve arranged for the neighbour to get us up and running with a generator. That was so very helpful. The cottage could use some updating but it was clean and cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. The location is about halfway between Bala and Port Carling which makes it very convenient for picking up groceries and supplies and would be great for shopping when you aren’t in the middle of a pandemic.

Lovely peaceful autumn visit to cottage country
This cottage was located on a quiet leafy street on Lake Muskoka. The cottage was exactly as described…rustic but very comfortable and well-appointed. Steve, the owner, was extremely responsive to our questions and touched base with us at the beginning of our state to ensure everything was OK. Recommend.

Everything you need
Everything we needed was there, including firewood. It is unfortunate that the property is divided by a road. Cars were driving over the speed limit all day long. I resorted to placing the muskoka chairs along the road and this slowed some of the cars down. Don’t expect peace and quiet. There were chainsaws (sometimes starting before 8am), trucks delivering lumber, lawnmowers, and non stop motorboats. Didn’t hear or see one loon. But the beds were comfortable and it was peaceful at night.

Wonderful few days away from the city!
This is a beautiful property, with wonderful view of the lake, in a quiet area of Muskoka. We travelled with our 20-something kids - 6 of us in total. The house is well-equipped - nothing fancy, but everything we needed. Mattresses were comfortable, and we could see the lake even from inside, sitting in living area. We ate all our dinners on the deck, also facing the huge front green area, and the lake below - easy access to the kitchen, and lots of room. outside We would happily have stayed much longer! Steve was an amazing communicator, both before and during our stay- his quick, friendly and informative responses were fantastic.

A timely retreat
During a time of uncertainty in the world, we enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing time away as a family. The cottage was cozy and well-equipped. The town of Bala, though most shops were closed, was stocked with the items that we needed and the people that we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. There are beautiful places to hike in the area and the cottage is an inviting place to come back to at the end of an adventure. We enjoyed campfires and boardgames in the evenings. It was the perfect way to practice "social distancing".

Wonderful winter getaway for families
Immaculately clean, well organized, everything was exactly as described. Owner promptly replied to our questions about use of the gas oven (with which we were unfamiliar). Highly recommended getaway in a beautiful, serene location.

Perfect Cottage Vacation
Our cottage stay surpassed our expectations. Not only is it a very clean and cozy cottage but it also has anything you may need....right down to a personalized welcome booklet that includes helpful cottage information as well as local things to do and see. We brought our dog and 13 year old and we don't know who had a better time. They both had hours of fun in the water. It was simply perfect. We would definitely love to return and without a doubt recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing, cozy, safe and care free vacation.

Great Place
We really enjoyed our stay. The property owner was very pleasant and responded to any questions promptly. The beach was awesome, fished off the dock at the church next door. Had campfire and checked out the local shopping and activities. Shopping was pricey. Wonderful and relaxing week.

Perfect Family March Break Get Away!
Our visit to Steve and Rachel's lovely cottage in Bala was the perfect Winter holiday! We planned a March Break get away with our daughters aged 9 and 10. The cottage had everything we needed, 3 good sized bedrooms, incredibly comfortable beds (is that a memory foam mattress on the king size master!). A propane fire place added to the cozy feeling as we watched the snow softly fall outside. The area surrounding the cottage was something straight out of a fairy tale, perfect for meandering after-dinner walks....we were lucky enough to see both a family of deer and a beautiful large owl! Even the gently sloping huge front lawn was a perfect sledding hill, right outside our front door! The fantastic location allowed us to take advantage of the nearby Muskoka Lakes Winery (neat outdoor, lantern-lit skate path), Hardy Park Hiking Trail, Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve and Arrowhead Park (skate trail, hiking trails, tubing). Our host, Steve was in close contact anytime we had a question, eager to make sure we were happy and had what we needed. Our experience at Steve and Rachel's cottage was exactly the winter cabin holiday we were hoping for! Thank you Steve and Rachel!

We had such an amazing time at Steve's cottage. The cottage was well appointed, full kitchen, clean and warm bedding, fluffy towels. The views of the lake were amazing. The neighbourhood and surrounding forest were fantastic for after dinner walks. Visiting during the winter, we had the great fortune to experience the beautiful Muskoka woods, snow dusted pine trees, straight out of a storybook. We will definitely recommend this cottage to friends and family! Thank you for such a wonderful family holiday!

Winter Serenity in a Warm and Cozy Cottage!
I decided to take my wife away up north for a mini-winter adventure for Valentine's Day. I booked Steve's cottage because it seemed to embody all that I needed for beautiful winter scenery while enjoying the cozy atmosphere of the cottage with its lake view and toasty gas fireplace. We drove up through a snowstorm to arrive Wed aftn. Once we got settled and turned on the gas fireplace, we decided to head out for a stroll around the neighbourhood. The snow was gently falling as our stroll through the snow-covered treelined roads was sooo quiet and peaceful! Steve's cottage has all the 'home' necessities for you to enjoy a home-cooked meal which is what we opted for. For Valentine's Day, we opted to head over to the Muskoka Lakes Farm Winery where cranberry is the order of the day! We enjoyed a cranberry beer and spritzer while we waited outside by the fire for our lunch. We were disappointed to learn that due to the excessive amount of snowfall, the trail was not open for us to do any snowshoeing. After enjoying a wine-tasting demo, we headed to Gravenhurst to stroll the streets and peruse through the many shops. We elected to have our Valentine's Day dinner early and settled on The Oar and Paddle - a delicious choice with healthy servings! After arriving back at Steve's cottage, we decided to go for one final night stroll through the neighbourhood. We took along with us one of the flashlights that Steve's cotttage provides to illuminate our way. An absolutely fantastic stroll in the absolute quiet of the wooded, snow-covered roadways by the cottage. We returned to the warmth of the cottage and that lovely gas fireplace! Thanks again Steve for providing us with a memorable mini-holiday!!!

Fabulous spot and great winter getaway.
Beautiful little cottage with a fabulous view of the lake.
The cottage was kept up, very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the winter and the heat combined with the fireplace kept the cottage nice and warm all weekend.
Sleeping arrangements are great. Big beds and a pull out couch.
Kitchen was well stocked with plates/cutlery/pots and pans and almost anything you'd need if you're doing some cooking.
Real close to the Muskoka Lakes winery for some awesome winter activities. If you're headed up in the winter, it's a MUST visit and only a 7-8 minute drive away.
Overall, a perfect stay.
