The house was everything we needed and more. The pier was amazing to fish off, in the water we snorkeled for hours, and the pool water was amazing and was the perfect size for marco polo. The house manager John was so nice and very attentive; he responded to our text immediately. l def recommend this house and we plan to return next year for hopefully longer than 7 days!

Everything was perfect. Peaceful and relaxing stay and the property met everyone’s needs. We would definitely stay here again!

The Pier House was lovely, the house was clean, and it is very well equipped. The pool was very nice and clean. Our only issue was with Mother Nature and trash from the ocean. We were unable to walk on the beach because there was so much seaweed and trash. The same was true for all the other properties beside us. There was a horrible, horrible smell that gave us headaches and respiratory issues. The city/county needs to clean it up! The Manager apologized to us and said unfortunately it happens every year for about 60 days. We just went the wrong time.

We had a fantastic vacation! It was like our own little resort! The house and pool were perfect. The view and the dock were amazing. We saw turtles, manatee, lobster, fish, birds and stingray! The host was very easy to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay!

Our family had a lovely stay at the property for a week in March. The rooms were spacious and the outside was breathtaking. We swam in the heated pool a lot since the winds were 20 mph+ most of the time and I was nervous about young kids being in the ocean. I think the week we stayed was an anomaly for winds. It was quiet and peaceful - just what we needed for a week away from work! The times we were able to get in the ocean were great. We saw a lot of hermit crabs, a sting ray, and my husband caught a barracuda fly fishing. We also saw a manatee and barracuda off the pier while fishing. The water is definitely walkable all the way out to the end of the pier - at least when we were there. John and Shanie were both great! The neighbors directly behind the property (it’s a shared driveway) are lovely and the neighbors next door, too. Their dogs (Captain and Sabiki) would join us in the ocean to play! The peacocks even graced us with their presence one sunrise on the beach!

The pictures while accurate, can’t do justice for the beauty of this property! Views, breezes, and all the accommodations you need for an incredible getaway. We had a wonderful week - pool was perfect and the area was a great location to get to all we needed for a memorable week with fun activities and delicious meals. Highly recommend!

It was gorgeous. The view was beautiful, house was great. JP the caretaker of house was the best guy. Made us feel so comfortable. Dock for fishing was amazing. Caught all type of fish and sharks. Thanks for sharing your piece of paradise with us. It truly was paradise.

It was a great time together as a family,
This beautiful property offers a wide variety of entertainment, beautiful pool for the young ones,
Private never ending pier for those that love fishing.
This property has it all, when you get there you just dont want to leave.
We are going back this 2024, and thank you shanie for your great hospitality.

Being able to walk out onto that pier every morning to watch the sunrise, and every evening to look up at the full moon, was worth every penny.
My husband and I stayed at the Pier House during Christmas week with our three teenage children, one ten-year-old, and my sister and brother-in-law. We loved the pool! It was always warm, and it was professionally cleaned twice while we were there. Having our own little private beach was absolute Heaven.
The neighbors were extremely friendly, as was the property manager, J.P.
Come and wade in the water, swim, soak in the beauty!

Great property and what a beautiful view! The property was absolutely beautiful, the home was spacious and having the pool after a long day on the boat snorkeling was a must! We rented a boat for the from A1 (don’t make the mistake of parking inside the gate after 5:00 or you will be ubering for the next 12 hours). Super Secret: Check our Freebee for a free ride around time. House was well equipped with floats, beach towels, plenty of outdoor seating, stocked kitchen and washer/dryer. The tide brought in trash and a potent smell from the beach so we were not able to enjoy the beach and the tv in the main room wasn’t working for the week but neither ruined our time spent at the house. Also, the property manager JP was amazing! He was very helpful and very communicative.

The house was great! The pool was great! The privacy was great! The pier was AWESOME!
I appreciated how clean the house was. The kitchen was well appointed. PJ was very attentive! We were conveniently close to restuarants and shopping. I would go back there again!

We stayed here for 5 weeks and had the best time. We cannot recommend this place more! We had some issues with the fridge and ac and the property manager was there within hours to fix it! We felt completely taken care of and our time here was amazing. We have a large family and each group took a week to stay with us. The downstairs was perfect to hold each of them to give them space! The pier was incredible and kept our crew occupied. We made the best memories here and came back home completely rested and relaxed. We hope to come back next year for an even longer stay! Thank you so much, Shanie, for sharing your home, and JP for taking such great care of us!

We loved every second at this beautiful property.
Very private.
House was comfortable and loaded with convenience’s.
As I sat in outdoor lounge reading and looking up at the ocean , I would shut my eyes at the awesome Atlantic Ocean to retain in my memory.
Oh, and that pool. Swam everyday as my guy fished off the dock.
He caught and released. Did see a Hammer Head and several spotted Rays went airborne.
I lived in the Keys many years ago. I got my fix for the Keys, view, food and hopefully we’ll be back.
Thank you for a comfortable home.
One last thought, we did bring our Rottweiler . Walking her (on lease of course) on the “old road” was not worrisome. Traffic is almost nonexistent. The few cars passing are driving slow.

We have stayed at this property several times now and this time seemed the best yet! The inside and grounds/pool are absolutely beautiful! The owner, Shanie and property manager JP will get back to you very quickly if you need anything and are very accommodating! WE CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!!!

This house can easily accommodate family groups as well as friends/ couples who wish to share. There are several large common areas and lots of outdoor, private space for lounging or activities. What a bonus to have a pool right on the edge of the beach! The home has a nice coastal decor and all new bathrooms. The location is close to lots of restaurants, state parks and attractions but very peaceful and quiet. We would love to return.

The Pier House was just perfect for our family! We all enjoyed fishing from the pier, grilling and hanging out by the pool. The house was clean and well cared for and the layout was great for our family. The teens loved their own space and so did we!! The grass was there on the waters edge but we are from a beach area so it did not bother us. We were aware that grass may be there and did not let that get in the way of enjoying our first trip to the Keys! The owner and property manager are great with communication. If quiet, relaxing, and laid back are what you’re looking for then you will find it here!!

We had an awesome time for the second year in a row. The location is super private and the renovations made everything even more beautiful. The pool was pristine, we used it everyday but the rainy day, thanks to the pool man! JP was a pleasure to meet and super helpful with my minor questions. The work being done to the beach area is going to completely change the condition of the beach, I can’t wait to see the changes! Lots of wild life and beautiful sunrises for this amateur photographer. We can’t wait to spend another vacation here! Thanks Shanie for allowing us to stay at your awesome house.

All we expected and more. House in excellent condition, well appointed decorations ,property manager responded to txts quickly- thanks JP. Very relaxing and all amenities within close proximity. Fishing pier amazing. Would definitely return to this paradise again!

Our stay at this property was wonderful! It is a beautiful place, great location, peaceful & the owner & property manager we’re great to work with! Would definitely stay here again!

This was our second year at this property and it was still the perfect place for our family vacation. We really liked the new bathrooms and the central a/c in the upstairs back bedroom was very comfortable. JP responds in minutes and everything worked smoothly. We caught fish off the dock almost every day (and released) and every morning watched the sunrise watched the peacocks and ibis check out the beach for breakfast. I love the peace and quiet.

My family & I enjoyed 3 wonderful weeks at The Pier House. The property perfectly suited our needs.
The pool was sparkling clean, if a little cool at times. We enjoyed the lounge chairs on the beach while sipping our morning coffee, watching the very tranquil (hard to believe it's the Atlantic) ocean. The sitting area underneath the house is so very pleasant and a great way to enjoy the outdoors without being in the sun. We had a lot of fun fishing off the pier - hint, hint, just drop your line by the pilings at the end. We caught snapper, pinfish, blowfish, shark, rays and other sea creatures. We even saw a manatee once - absolutely magical.
The bedroom downstairs gave my sister and her husband their privacy and lots of room. The house itself is well appointed with a fairly well equipped kitchen, spacious hall bath and good size master bedroom. My husband and I set up our office on the sun porch - somehow it made work easier while looking at the ocean. Pier House is gated except at the ocean, so our dogs had a great time running around.
The property manager, JP, is a treasure. I don't think the guy sleeps. He was attentive and helpful. If you have a question, just ask him as he is a fount of knowledge.
There are a few cons - the Florida Keys on the Atlantic side get a lot of seaweed and it does smell. There is nothing the owner or property manager can do to stop it - it's just Mother Nature, so be warned. We didn't find it all that troublesome. The beach is narrow and the water is very shallow. It's a great place to launch kayaks, but swimming - not so much. The property sits on the ocean at the back of a shared driveway opened by an electronic gate - great for security and privacy, not so much for UberEats or delivery.
I sincerely hope that we can go back next year. After all, we missed 3 winter storms while enjoying the 70 degree temps and sun!!

This property was breathtaking! It’s so peaceful and quiet. The property manager was extremely friendly and accommodating. He brought us coffee, bread, alcohol and even provided us with a high chair for our baby. The heated pool is very nice and relaxing. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!

We have many great things to say about this property.....the house, the amenities, the pool, the location, the property manager. As many folks know, a bunch of atta-boys can be wiped out by one "oh crap".
There was a post a few weeks before our stay that really made me nervous so I reached out to the owner and asked about it. It had to do with the seaweed and smell at the property. I specifically asked about it and was told " a small storm had washed up some seaweed and the folks had blown the story out of proportion". I took this to heart as we had told the owner that we know there is always a second side. Well, this was not the case here. The first thing that we were hit with when we drove into the property was the worst smell you can imagine. I work in the waste water treatment business so I can handle odor pretty well. We all know that first impression is everything. The first impression when getting out of the truck was that we were in a third world country in regards to the smell and the trash at the ocean's edge. I have plenty of pictures to show if anyone would like to see. I'm just very disappointed because I specifically asked about the seaweed and odor and told the owner, "I don't want to smell rotting seaweed for my 60th birthday week". This seaweed and trash isn't something that blew up a week before in our opinion. We were not going to let this ruin our vacation but want to let folks know about it before hand.
As I said in the beginning of this post, 90% of everything with this property was outstanding. JP the property manager was great, even bringing fresh loaves of Cuban bread a couple of mornings. The great breeze off the Atlantic kept the bugs mostly at bay. The daily peacock visit was awesome.
As nice as the house, pool, property manager, etc. are, we CANNOT recommend this property due to the smell and trash at the edge of the ocean. You literally cannot get in the water, nor would you want to.
As we stated, we were determined not to let anything ruin our vacation and we didn't. We had a wonderful time and love the Key's.

We loved our time in the Pier House. The owner is attentive and communicated thoroughly and timely. The property manager, JP, is friendly, responsive and professional. I was especially impressed by the pool service twice per week, which made all the difference as we used the pool every day! The property was spotless, and everything was in working order. It was well stocked in the kitchen and plenty of beach and bath towels, etc. The ocean views from the family/living and dining rooms are stunning.
The outdoor space is really the best part of this house. The kayaks were used every day, the pier is great for fishing and the pool is great. The grounds were well kept and the grills were a great option as we were not wanting to eat in restaurants too much, even though there are plenty of good options.
This was our second stay and I will be back to the Pier house for sure. As for the reviews mentioning the sea weed, that is a factor all over the keys, especially on the ocean side. Depending on the weather it is a bigger or lesser factor. If you are looking for wide sandy beaches, the Keys are not for you.
This house is wonderful and it is owned and managed by professional and responsive people. We will be back!

This was our first trip coming to the Keys. We had a great stay at Pier house. What an amazing first adventure. We are a family a five, three kiddos (age 6-teenager).The whole family enjoyed fishing (caught a barracuda, box fish and numerous snappers), wading in the water off the dock, kayaking and the pool. Got to see so much wildlife (sharks, peacocks, various sea birds, sting-rays, etc. just from house/dock). The house had everything we needed, very well stocked with kitchen cookware and many spices, etc. Very close to great restaurants, snorkeling, deep sea fishing charters (all of which we enjoyed). JP was very responsive. We definitely hope to come back next year. Thanks Shanie and JP!

We rented this place to celebrate our 20th anniversary with children and family. Everyone was very excited, and after 5 hour drive, we were looking to check-in and got to an early dinner. How wrong we were - once we drove into the property, we immediately got hit with a very strong smell of decomposing seaweed. I couldn't stay more than several minutes before getting nauseous, and getting impulses to puke. I cannot describe the mess in front of the property - seaweed and trash piling up for months, stretching for 20-30 feet into the water, decomposing, creating a stench that nobody should be ever exposed to. Neighbors' property was cleaned and neat, showing up their private beaches. Apparently they care and clean their front stretches. After calling the property manager, he said that there is nothing he can do, and that it has been like this for months. We talked to neighbors, they were not happy either, stating the strong stench was around for several weeks now. We called the owner, she was unapologetic, stating simply - you don't like it leave. We asked for a full refund, she suggested maybe 50%. We called VRBO, they couldn't help us immediately, but said will escalate. We had to leave and drive back home for 5h. Once we left the property, since we couldn't stay there, the owner said that she will not return anything because we complained to VRBO. I've spent 1-1.5h daily, for the next 7 days on the phone with VRBO agents, mostly waiting, apparently on-hold, since we've learned that there was no escalations and they were blowing me off. On the 8th day, a kind VRBO agent told me that there was no escalation, and nobody is doing anything about it, and these cases are at the mercy of the owners, and VRBO doesn't step in. He called the owner again. She said that she will now think about returning 42% (arbitrary number). She then 2 hours later returned $1500, which was 27% of the total amount we paid. Beware, and stay away from this property, until this owner gets her property in order, and cleans it up. Making statement of - "this is Florida, and seaweed is natural, and it will go away", while it piles up for months and decomposes, collecting all sorts of garbage, making this actually otherwise beautiful setting and property unacceptable. It is a health and safety issue. Nobody should be paying so much money to be nauseated every moment they step outside. Shame on the owner and VRBO. Beware of VRBO practices as well. They will not stand by you ever.

We had the misfortune of staying at the Pier House during a “blowout” – an entire week of sustained winds varying from 20-35 mph. Of course neither us, nor the owner, Shanie, have any influence over that, but it did impact our stay.
The oceanfront property has a large pool that was well maintained (but cold), a nicely raked out rocky sand “beach’ with comfy reclining beach chairs and the 300’ pier was in good condition, except the hit & miss lighting – it was only usable the first 2 days due to the wind, but we landed a small shark, some red snapper and a nice barracuda & enjoyed the wildlife – dolphins, peacocks and various waterfowl. The home is modestly appointed and the rooms were quite roomy, especially the master bedroom (except for the tiny master bathroom). The home was very private, well air conditioned and did offer a lovely ocean view. The main bath was very nice and we didn’t find the bed mattresses to be uncomfortable.
My biggest disappointment here was the “heated” pool, which we had paid the additional $175 heating fee to have provided. The pool heater is undersized and reached a maximum temperature of 84 degrees, on a 90 degree day, before falling back to 80 at night (even though John’s associates had turned the thermostat up to 88 degrees). So the pool was essentially unusable for us! To Shanie’s credit, she did refund the heating fee. We also arrived to find the charcoal grill totally rusted out, but John, the property manager, replaced it with a brand new one the very next day, including a bag of charcoal! The wind was so bad that our patio furniture was literally blowing around and to sit outside we either huddled together on the narrow second story walkway or behind the home out of the wind. Since we cooked on the charcoal BBQ, we had to do so behind the home. Unfortunately, none of the rear outdoor lighting was functional, nor are there any accommodations back there. Other disconcerting issues that we dealt with were the toaster, which only worked on one side; the range top, where both front burners operate only on “HIGH” and can’t be adjusted down; the microwave, which is loosely and improperly mounted & has no light; the non-functioning master bath fan and heat lamps; the extremely low water pressure in the master bath and lower bedroom showers and the damaged Venetian blind in the downstairs bedroom. None of these were “show-stoppers”, but not at all what we had expected from this rental.

We had a terrific week @ The Pier House. The property is isolated, quiet and has a spectacular private ocean view. The house & outdoors were clean and had all the amenities needed. This was our second time renting this property & we’d likely rent again in the future. The only downside was the ocean vegetation roasting in the sun & producing a bit of a stink. Fortunately, there was a constant breeze that helped minimize the smell. All in all, this property is fantastic.

The photos provided online looked good, but it was even better in person! The view from the living room was beautiful. The pool and grounds were in perfect shape and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need. Plenty of beach towels and pool floats as well. We loved the pool and dock and used them everyday. Some reviews mentioned the smell from seaweed. It was minimal during our stay, but is to be expected at all ocean side homes in the Keys. The same can be said for any bugs. It's Florida. We would definitely book again!

My friends and I stayed a week and enjoyed our time very much. The dock and pool were wonderful. There is plenty of room outside for everyone to relax in the sunshine. Take a nap in the hammock under the palm trees! It is awesome! We used the grill often and evenings under the stars were perfect. We saw ibis, osprey, peacocks, horseshoe crabs, needlefish, white crabs, puffer fish, stingrays, dolphin and sharks. It was fascinating. The bathrooms, perfectly adequate, could use an update. The mattresses in the house should be replaced soon. If you are staying in the downstairs bedroom be sure to keep the door closed or you will have ‘visitors’. We found a tiny lizard in the shower and a cricket in the closet!😊 There was a minor problem with the kitchen sink but it was remedied so that we could use it for the remainder of our stay. It would have been nice to have screens on the windows to bring in the fresh sea air. One thing vacationers need to be aware of is the sea kelp on the beachfront. There is nothing the owner can do about it and it is a much larger situation with the rise in kelp growth throughout the Atlantic. Instead of griping, learn about it and see how nature lives with it. The ibis love digging for their breakfast in the kelp. Don’t sleep in or you will miss the most beautiful sunrises. I saw other complaints about bugs and worms. You are at the oceanfront so this is natural. The worms are tiny and fall from the palms. Bugs are bugs. Hose off the patio and move on! Had a great time, enjoyed the water and sunshine-a perfect getaway from our winter weather.
