GREAT view of gulf, nice location, miracle mile highway can be very busy at times making car travel a challenge.

Nice unit, elevators by beach side units worked this year!! Our 4th stay at Destin West Gulfside. Doors outside could use painting as first presentation to unit.

Condo was clean and very nice. The area was quiet, and had great beach access. The hot tub was nice and hot. Would recommend!

We loved sitting on the balcony with the ocean view. Felt very safe there with a family oriented setting! The kitchen was very well stocked and we had plenty bath towels. One of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed.

Condo is beautiful, clean and well appointed. So close to the beach! Easy communication with owner. Have stayed there in the past & will be back!

My boyfriend and I have heard amazing things about Destin/Fort Walton beach. So we decided to book a trip and head down. Well it was the best 5 days we have had in a long time. Shelley was nothing short of amazing, helpful and super sweet. The condo was in the PERFECT location, it was in great shape. We had the best time and even made some great friends down at the jacuzzi! We couldn’t say enough great things about the condo and the beach!

Wonderful view/location to the beach.

Condo exceeded our expectations! Tropical storm Claudette made the start of the week interesting. Shelley personally called prior to check-in with possible water buildup around the sliding glass doors due to the storm and if we had any problems with equipment provided to call. She also sent out an email several weeks before that the elevator closest to the condo could be out of commission. I appreciated being informed and do not consider either as a negative mark with the property. All appliances and electronics worked great. My 6’4” 17 year old struggled fitting in the bunk room but made for great photos! The resort and beach was well secured allowing only families that provide proof into the resort so do not forget your parking pass and bracelets. I followed one of the previous renters tip and had groceries delivered!!! Will rent again for sure

We love this end unit..The view is wonderful.The unit is very clean and supplied with all we needed.Love the updated bathroom...We had problems with the WiFi and told Shelly not to worry about it but she was determined to have it repaired for us.

The property was just as described. We enjoyed our stay at the condo. There is more than enough to do in the area to keep you busy the whole time. We were happy to be able to come back and rest and relax after our busy days exploring the area. We had great communication with the owner Shelly. I would suggest this property to anyone who wants a fabulous view and great location.

We had an awesome vacation staying in this condo on the beach! Perfect view!! This was our second year at Destin West Beach and Bay Resort and we love this location for family vacation. This specific property really felt like home away from home and Shelley is always available for any help you may need! If you’re on the fence, I’d say go for it, you won’t be disappointed!

We wanted a rental on the beach with a balcony and king size bed, this property was exactly what we wanted. Nice accommodations and owner was on call for any problems. We had no problems with our stay! We would come back!

Shelley, thank you so very much for sharing your beautiful condo with us. The condo looked even more beautiful than the pictures online. We had stayed at the condo directly above hers 2 years ago. It was very nice also, but we loved the decor in Shelley’s more. All the beds were comfortable and the condo was very clean. The direct ocean and beach view was beyond incredible and that was our main reason for renting this specific condo. Hearing the ocean waves from your private balcony was truly priceless. Shelley was easily accessible via text throughout our stay and was nice enough to work with us in allowing an early check in due to when our flight came in. She even allowed us to check out two hours late as our flight out of the area wasn’t until 4 PM and she didn’t have new customers arriving that day. We asked for the early check-in and late checkout in advance, so as not to rudely spring something on her. She was very accommodating. You cannot go wrong in renting this condo on beautiful, non-crowded Okaloosa Island. We saw dolphins off our balcony each morning while enjoying breakfast. We enjoyed our one minute walk from our condo onto the beach. Checking in with the beach chair rental guy each day was simple and renting an additional umbrella and chair set up was simple for our party of four. We love that there is less commercialization in Okaloosa Island versus Destin proper and really enjoyed ourselves so much! Make sure you head to the pier at least once during your stay. You can get a stamp and return as many times as you want the same day. We saw a couple sea turtles and several dolphins each time we went out on the pier. The Dolphins like to steal the fish from the fisherman that are reeling their catch up. We walked to restaurants on the beach almost each night. We used Uber for any transportation needs we had, but only used it to and from the airport and when going to Destin one day for lunch at the original Dewey’s and a sunset dolphin cruise with AJ’s Water Adventures, both are highly recommended! Instacart for Publix is very convenient and we had our groceries delivered during our stay. We hope to be back someday. Shelly truly owns a condo on a slice of paradise. It was so hard to leave...

We had stayed at a property of Shelley and Bill in the past and felt very confident renting from them again. They take great pride in all their places and replied promptly with the couple of questions I had. Beachside 401 was clean, had comfortable beds, had a wonderful view and had everything we needed for a great vacation!

Everything was just as stated. Only problem we had was there was a lot of walking involved to get to the parking garage from our oceanfront room. It really gives you a workout. But everything else was great. Room was very clean and beds were very comfortable. Would recommend this place for anyone with kids. It has a lot of pools and the lazy river is awesome!

This was the perfect location for a beach vacation for our family of 6. The two boys took the bunk room while my 2 daughters had the spare bedroom. Plenty of room to hang out, which was great because the weather just did not cooperate with us! Rainy for most of our week but watching the storms over the ocean from the patio was quite amazing. We will definitely be back, just hopefully when it's better weather! It's too bad the lazy river isn't heated because it was way too cold to enjoy during our April visit. We spent lots of time in the hot tub though! We also took a few trips to the heated pool as well.

It is our second time staying in this condo. It was just as good the second time as the first. The views are unbeatable and everything was clean. We will stay again.

First, I’d like to say the beaches were beautiful. We enjoyed the area very much. It was our first time at Fort Walton beach and the Destin area. We did notice a few issues upon our stay. One of them being the balcony door it’s extremely heavy and hard to open and lock. No big deal, I did not contact anybody about that. The place was not extremely welcoming, with signs everywhere do not do this, and do not do that. And we got a more condescending than welcoming vibe. There are o my 2 heated pools and hot tubs. The rest of the pools were FREEZING! Including the lazy river. But the most annoying issue I found was, when we arrived home my husband realized he had left his gym shoes there. When asked if they were found we are asked to pay $25 fee to the cleaning lady, along with shipping. I don’t see how this is fair, and the cleaning ladies responsibility and not management?

401 was as nice or even better than expected. Morning work outs 3 floors straight down. Exercise room was clean, large, and had lots of equipment. Next to the beach where the beach setup guys took fantastic care of us. We cooked breakfast/brunch everyday. Kitchen well stocked but you will need to bring every spice that you need, even salt and pepper. Bathrooms spacious and payed out nicely. Every day watched the sunset from the very large balcony. Then walked to dinner down by the pier. Many places to eat and have beverages. All within 1/2 mile. During your stay you will be entertained by the air force. Not all day or too much by any means (can watch fighter jets, ospreys, transports, helicopters all day). Pools looked very nice although we did not get a chance to swim. Check in and out was simple. Not a long walk to garage. Elevator right next to room for fast beach access. Tv’s in every room. Full channel lineup with HBO. Very friendly people everywhere. Don’t forget to watch for dolphins. You will not be disappointed.

The condo was very nice. Two things that could use improvement is having no pantry in the kitchen and the TV in bunk bedroom is not tiltable and can't be seen from the bottom bunk bed.

My husband and I, and our 2 young boys (ages 6 and 8) stayed here last week. The condo is beautiful and so convenient to everything. It took us about 1 minute to get to the beach from our room so if you need to run up and down, it's not a big deal at all. The pools are so clean and family friendly. Hurricane Michael caused a mandatory evacuation for us on Tuesday and the owner was so quick to help us find a good place to relocate to. She stayed in touch with us the entire time and let us know as soon as we could return. No damage was done to the resort or city. We will be back!! Thank you Shelley for everything!

Wonderful location! We had a less than 5 minute walk from the condo to the beach (including the elevator ride). Great location for Boardwalk restaurants (5 minute walk) and Wednesday night fireworks from the pier (then Destin was Thursday night and could still be seen from the beach while ghost crabbing ). Only complaint, not Shelley's problem, but the association they pay for and/or the county beach authority does not check the private beach for loiterers who leave their pop up tents, chairs and toys all week long. I've never seen this before, and been to tons of beaches. We had a horrible morning storm that blew two tents into the protected dunes area. The people took the broken structures out (I mean pieces of metal hanging and the tents couldn't even stand straight) and they repositioned them for the week. Wish the owners told the association they pay for that this is unacceptable and an eye sore for not only their rental property but also our vacation. We paid enough for a great view, not a landfill. Hopefully this could be remedied because I would totally rent again.

The condo: The condo itself was nice. The beds were comfortable and the décor a beach theme. It was clean. Great view of the ocean from the balcony that was accessible through the master bedroom. The tile throughout was good and the kitchen was a good size. The kitchen was pretty well stocked. There are some pans, but I would bring a non-stick pan or a griddle if you're planning on pancakes. The laundry is a stacked unit in closet in the kitchen. It is loud so start it before you leave the condo. The dryer also takes a time to dry so I wouldn't plan on doing a lot of laundry while you're there either. The bunk room is a fun little space for smaller kids, but only has a curtain separating it from the main area so definitely use it for the early risers since there is no door and any noise in the condo will wake up those in this room. The second bedroom has bathroom access and the bathroom is also accessible through the hallway too. The resort: Destin West is nice because there is a beach and the bay side to the resort. It has a walking bridge on the third floor that connects the two sides. The best thing about the resort is that it is within walking distance of Fudpukkers restaurant, arcade, and marina on the bay side and the Boardwalk on the gulf side. The Boardwalk has a number of restaurants, gift shops, and a gelato place. If you've never been to Destin, you'll realize quickly how you'll like something within walking distance because the traffic is insane. Maybe it was just a crowded time of year, but it took us 2 hours just to get to the condo from about a mile away on Saturday night. The bay side has a great lazy river and nice waterfall pool. Definitely better to go in the evening because it can get pretty crowded in the day. The gulf side pool was busy but never really crowded. The beach, however, was another story. It was insanely crowded. The 10 beach front condo units are really all the beach front that this resort has and all of that beach front is taking up by the beach chair service. There are so many chairs that they are arranged into 5 semi-circles on the beach with maybe 6 inches of space between each set. The assigned beach chairs are moved every day so you have to search yours out each day and they are only out until around 4pm. The condo comes with two beach service chairs, but bring your own chairs (sand toys/umbrellas) and setup to the left of the property where it isn't as crowded.
