This property is great, they sent a book about the big island to help us plan our trip unexpectedly and provided great service while we were there. Then checking out the property manager said the beach key card, $150 to replace, was missing. They said it wasn't in the bowl with the garage door opener and pool key that we verified were there before we left. Luckily our flight wasn't leaving until later in the day so I went back to the house. The cleaners were there and right after I walked in, they says they found the card. None of the cleaners stories lined up. I asked where they found it and they said they didn't know or couldn't remember. The woman who appeared to be the cleaning leader wasn't sure of where it was either but it just miraculously showed up when I walked in. I asked if she had told the property manager yet they found it and they hadn't. It was right in the bowl right where I left it. They said it wasn't in the bowl when they walked in but I know that's a lie. It's physically impossible for them to have found the pool key and garage door opener without finding the beach card in the bowl. This felt like a shady shakedown for $150 that I showed up and called their bluff and they lost. I'm glad it's all resolved now but this has definitely left a bad taste in my mouth after what was a great stay up until this checkout fiasco.

Our family of 10 had a wonderful time in this well appointed home. Everything we needed for the beach was provided and the gear was in perfect condition. The home is masterfully presented as the perfect VRBO vacation rental. Other VRBOs need to take notes. This is how it is done. The view from the lanai really set this place apart from the many other similar appearing options. We also rented a golf cart from Resortcart which gave us so many options and we had a great experience with them. We will be back.

We cooked a lot and I had never used a conduction cooktop before but it was great and we had all the cookware we needed. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the lanai outside one night. The pool is huge and a 2 minute walk away, which the kids loved. The house was well-situated to some wonderful beaches a close drive away. There is a full supermarket about a 3 minute drive away which we visited often. It does seem like the community is a little strict. My brother-in-law rented a sprinter van without my knowledge and parked it on the street when I asked him not to. The owner stopped by and was palpably upset since he had received lots of complaints. I felt terrible about it, but luckily he let us know where to park the van. But we really enjoyed this gorgeous house and it made our whole vacation great.

We loved the house - the location was great, the amenities were wonderful, and the layout was absolutely perfect for our two families traveling together. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone traveling to the big island who wants more space and amenities than a resort can offer (the kitchen and individual bedrooms were a BIG PLUS when traveling with kids). We loved it!

We had a great time staying in your home and visiting the Big Island!! We couldn't believe the weather: 80 degrees everyday and we had to return to -30 in Minnesota! I would give your home 4.5 stars if VRBO allowed that rating! If all goes as planned, we hope to return in 2 years, and will definitely look at your home again!

The property is beautifully landscaped and maintained. Amenities are close at hand. We were pleasantly surprised to find that beaches were within a short walk (closer than we expected based on the property description). Aquatic life was abundant and we were able to see sea turtles every day. My granddaughters enjoyed the goats, the cats, lizards, and beautiful birds surrounding the house. The house layout allowed our family of ten to gather as a group when we chose but also had sufficient room to allow for privacy within the various family units when needed. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment for those of us who enjoy cooking for the family. A few quick trips to Costco allowed us to cook many affordable meals without breaking the budget by eating out. The garage is stocked full of fun beach equipment and bikes to allow the active members of the family to enjoy the island’s gorgeous outdoor activities. The management company was very pleasant and accommodating, helping us to extend our stay and giving us a late check out. This is our fourth Hawaiian Island we have visited and the Big Island is now a favorite of many with its varied activities to keep the entire family entertained. Some favorite activities were: deep sea fishing with the Humdinger out of Kona, the nearby black sand beach, the south point and trip to the green beach, driving to the Akaka Falls, a luau, a trip to Hilo, and the La Hoihoi ea festival. My husband is ready to book our next stay!

We surprised my father for his 80th birthday by taking him to the Big Island. The Hawaiian Jewel had plenty of space for all 9 of us. The AC works great, the neighborhood is quiet and, when we had a request for a few things, the staff was attentive. There is construction going on directly across the street from the home but it did not interfere with our stay. The access to the beach club is great! It's a safe beach for snorkeling and the restaurant is really good. You can bring your own cooler and food, but, if you want food and drinks without toting all your own stuff, access to the club makes it easy. That ease comes at a cost but, for us, it was worth it. A great stay!

'lovely to sit quietly in the morning and hear the birds and feel the warmth of Hawaii. The bedrooms were spacious, and comfortable. And we even enjoyed the convenience of laundry and drying racks for beach towels and swim-wear. The location to the pool was an easy walk, and the pool and hot -tub were perfect. We LOVED our stay at Hawaiian Jewel. Thanks!

The house was big enough for our party and was a reasonable cost so one star for that. Having snorkel gear, beach towels, floats available for our use gets another star. Would give another half a star if possible because I like that location on the island. However the furniture in the family room was worthless: a small weirdly shaped couch that didn't fit more than 3 people and an uncomfortable chair in the corner; the house sleeps 8 yet there wasn't anyplace for anyone to sit. We were expected to wash our towels, wash our dishes and take out the garbage?!?! Seriously?!?! I paid to stay here not to clean it. I own several vacation rentals and do NOT make my guests do this as I know they are on vacation and not my housekeeping staff. Get more towels to switch out the sets if necessary but don't make guests do your work. Also they were horrible at getting back to me with my request for a late checkout. Would never stay with them again simply for this reason. Owning/managing rentals myself I know that the way they handled this was ridiculous and completely unnecessary. Their communication on it was horrible and the didn't even get back to me until the night before we were leaving even though I had been asking for months . Had even been willing to book an extra day or pay more for the extra couple hours yet they refused to let me know until last minute. Very unprofessional. (If you stay here be aware that their checkout time is 10am which is already on the early side.) Will look elsewhere next time I come to Hawaii

Wonderful home full of all amenities and quite location.

This was a fantastic place for our extended family to vacation. Very well thought out and terrific for family with kids. Very convenient to the beach, shopping, and restaurants. Our only complaint was the pool was a little cold. A minor issue that is only related to the complex, not the house specifically.

The Hawaiian Jewel Villa is the perfect spot for a family to enjoy Hawaii's Big Island. Our family of 6 adults and 4 kids have stayed there two years in a row and will definitely return. The house is beautiful and exceptionally well stocked, including an amazing amount of fun toys like snorkel gear, beach toys, towels and bikes. Access to the private beach area is a fantastic as is the pool and hot tub. Jeff and Suzanne run a first-rate operation and are friendly and responsive. This is a great find!

This house was everything we could have needed. A large kitchen, great for cooking meals for the whole family. The chairs, snorkels, boogie boards and bikes were very useful for beach days. We visited 49 black sand beach which had great snorkeling, Mauna Kea beach was beautiful, as well as a few others that were all within a 10-20 minute drive. The market down the road was also very convenient. Overall a great place! It is a bit of a drive if you want to visit the volcano or other beachs near Kona but definitely a very nice, not-cluttered part of the island. The binder in the house offered a lot of information that we also found very helpful. The shave ice and pineapple soft serve up the road near Kohala Burger and Taco were very delicious, and the people working there were extremely nice. We did venture about an hour away to Keahlakakuah bay and got to swim with dolphins, which was amazing and a very great place to snorkel. It was worth the drive. For our first trip to this island, we were allvery pleased with our visit!

The home is beautiful inside and out, and accommodated two families with college-aged children - total of 7 people not a problem (an eighth couldn't come, but there would have been plenty of room for her.) Kitchen is well-equipped and laid out for food preparation and gathering. Scuba equipment, towels, bikes, cooler, chairs, clothes washing facilities all in very good condition and good quality. The neighborhood pool area was gorgeous - multiple pools, whirlpools, workout room, showers, and gorgeous landscaped area. It was nice to be in the beautiful resort area, convenient to some great beach/snorkeling area, restaurant, grocery store, and to the main road for trips down to Kona and to the saddle road across to Hilo. Owners were very helpful and responsive throughout the entire process via email, including while we were there and had an issue with the shared surrey bike. They even sent us a guidebook to the island that was extremely helpful and fun to read - after receiving it, I bought one for the other family traveling with us, so we could both read ahead and be ready to hit the ground running when we arrived. I would highly recommend this exact place to friends and families coming to the big island.

This is a beautiful home in a beautifully landscaped tropical paradise neighborhood! Our group of 8 had more than enough space, and we spent lots of time on the gorgeous patio and cooking meals in the huge modern kitchen. We also took advantage of the bikes, boogie boards, and beach chairs. When you book this house, you also get access to the Mauna Lani Beach Club, which is a short drive from the house (you can easily ride bikes). The beach club turned out to be one of our favorite spots, with lounge chairs in the shade, very good snorkeling, beautiful views, an interesting fish pond that the kids found fascinating, and a charming beach-front restaurant. Our hosts were great communicators and easy to coordinate with. There is a grocery store just a few minutes away from the house, which was really convenient. The only thing at the house that we had an issue with was low water pressure in the kitchen, but this was minor compared to everything we loved about the place. In terms of location, Mauna Lani is a beautiful area with very nice beaches (and amazing but expensive restaurants at the nearby hotels). If we come back to the Big Island, though, we might consider booking a house closer to Kona, since we liked the "town" feel there with less expensive restaurants and more shopping. Overall though, we had a 5-star experience with this house. I highly recommend it!

We travelled with my family of 4, my sister's family of 5, and our 76 year old mother. (kids aged 11-16) This house was great for sleeping 10 people, especially nice having 3.5 bathrooms! The common spaces (kitchen, living, dining) were well laid out, and the kitchen had everything we needed. The pool and fitness facilities were fantastic! We really appreciated all the beach chairs, snorkel equipment and bikes provided. We loved the nearby beaches: great snorkelling at the beach club (and we saw turtles!), a sunset swim at Mauna Kea beach, an amazing visit by a manta ray while swimming at Hapuna Beach, and we enjoyed the gorgeous black sand beach. Communication with Jeff and Suzanne was very easy. The only suggestion my mom had was to install a grab bar in at least one of the showers to make it a little safer for seniors. Very nice home. We had eight couples and the home was very comfortable. Home was stocked well- beach towels, snorkel gear, bikes which was all appreciated. The stove top broke on the last day and they bought us a replacement promptly. Would have liked to spend more time on the lani but the way the house was positioned there was no view or trade winds. Thanks we had a great time and felt it was a great value.
