Great contact from host, who accommodated request for an earlier check in, which was very helpful. Very clean and spacious property with great central location for everywhere you'll likely to head off to around the area. Welcome pack had detailed information, so I didn't need to contact Sue & Chris with anything. Great venue would definitely consider staying again. .

Only one thing of note, which was purely cosmetic, was laminate covering around the bedroom window missing or coming away. I passed this on to Sue incase she wasn't aware of the problem. This does not distract from what is otherwise a great place to stay

The location was great - lots of good restaurants nearby (Restaurant 27 is recommended for a special treat). Sue (the host) was great with her recommendations and advice (incl our 2-day trip to the Isle of Wight).

As a basement apartment, ventilation could be improved - I had to leave the front door open to create airflow. The lighting in the living room and kitchen can be improved - more lights would have been great!

everything, it was damp, it smelled of damp, the entrance was dirty & littered with rubbish, wall coverings had fallen off the wall in the bedroom. totally unacceptable accommodation

The place is really lovely, very spacious and has all the kitchen things you need. It was really clean and parking is a total bonus! Really liked the extra sofabed in the living room although we only used it to put stuff on. Proximity to beach and pedestrian street of many bars and restaurants.

Looks exactly like the pictures, felt very homely. The location is great. We arrived during a food festival and we’re smack bang in the middle of it all. a very easy walk to everything you’d need. The bedroom is dark enough to sleep in summer. Could use a pedestal fan for the warmer months. Staff were extremely helpful answering questions and providing all the info you’ll need for your stay!! The flat is on the basement level but the stairs are easy to manage and not steep.

If you have people sleeping on the sofa bed (on a weekend especially), you can hear the noise of people walking by. Unfortunately we had people walking by at 3 and 4am that woke me up, but if you are only using the bedroom, it’s much quieter!

The apartment is in basement ,on a busy road.no windows furniture need some update-sofa is really damaged, had to put my own cover on it ,before I sat down.And the apartment has a weird smell-not sure ,whats that is .

cant open any windows- felt bit claustrophobic the apartment needs to be updated in areas! Daughter slept in lounge area and she said was noisy at night-opposite pedestrian crossing lots of thoroughfare! bedroom blind broken window underneath needs attention.

found the property straight away and found the parking so straightforward. Lots of handy facilities in the apartment so had everything we needed. Owners kept in touch to check we were happy. Fantastic location

There was nothing we didn’t like but we did notice some areas that could do with some TLC but still a lovely place to stay in.

We had a lovely last minute stay at the Solent retreat. The property was easy to find and parking was easy, we were grateful of receiving a permit from the host during our stay. The property is in the perfect location to explore Southsea, the coastal path is minutes away and lots to see. There was plenty of choice of restaurants locally. The property itself was comfortable and had everything we needed. It would have been good to have had a more suitable dining table to play board games on but this is a minor thing. There was some traffic noise but the area is generally quiet so wasn’t too much of an issue. There was good communication from the host and it was lovely to have fresh towels and milk ready for us. Thank you.

Excellent value for money. Nice and spacious flat, well renovated with a comfortable bed. I couldn’t ask for anything more and will be sure to stay here again next time I’m down.

The location is good close to Southsea restaurants and shops. The Saturday Parkrun is only a few minutes away if you want to partake as I did. Portsmouth is a good location to stay and explore and has a lot to offer.

The apartment was the basement and it was damp. Not only did it have an overpowering smell of damp but the bedding felt clammy. We reported this on the first day and the second day and we had no response until the 3rd day when we were leaving and were told they hadn't had any other reports, which is not an solution or fair way to reply to a genuine issue. The apartment is a little tired in places with skirting boards loose and the settee is badly worn and their is a damp patch in the bedroom and above the window in the bedroom the damp has caused the wood cladding to warp and come away. How nobody has reported damp before is unbelievable as the place is riddled with evidence and smells very musty. There is a double lock with an advisory to use this but the main mortice lock is unusable, maybe there is a knack to this, but there shouldn't be, it should just lock. We were late booking for Goodwood and there was little choice and this place has a lot better photographs than the reality of the interior. It was £418 for 3 days which does not represent good value. The accommodation has spoilt our Goodwood Revival experience. We also had a rude awakening with the fire smoke detector going off for no reason in the early hours. After some research online the green flashing light flashing since and likely before we arrived means low battery! No sleep at all for us after that happened. Be careful of the parking as there is a permit but no logic to being able to park outside but then literally a few feet away is not part of the permit and it is not sign posted. This is no fault of the owners just be very aware as we were fined.

Excellent apartment in Central location. Very close to the beach.

Keys were locked in a box right by the front door - very easy. Very clean and nicely decorated. Good kitchen facility we walked to the fish monger and cooked with the local produce with great ease. Great location if you are happy to walk for both Portsmouth and all of Southsea. Fab little cafe on the green about a 10 min walk away too for breakfast and cake. Brilliant that the parking permits are provided that was fantastic. Would stay again. Thank you.

We didn't know when booking it was a basement flat so was quite dark. We would have liked an outside space but made use of the green to the front and took a blanket. The gardens are beautiful and so well maintained. Towel rail and the toilet seat in the bathroom were both very loose upon arrival but only little maintenance jobs. Hosts were in touch prior to arrival and checked if we were happy - thanks for a lovely weekend.
