Hotel rooms are nice with a beautifull view of the ocean. Around the hotel is nothing, no Restaurant no bar. Therefore i had to eat at the hotel. Food was bad. Also breakfast not so nice. Big problem at Restaurant that the server speaks no english. Could not answer any question. Not good for a 4 star hotel

Room was spacious and clean, bed was comfortable. The view out of the large balcony is amazing looking over the beach out to sea. The gym next door is well equipped. Food was ok

Seated at the rim of the Atlantic Ocean, 155km on the way to Santiago de Compostela, this hotel is situated in a great location if you like the sea and jogging on the boardwalk. The sunset view is awesome if you are lucky to get the seaside view. It is located a bit outside the center of the city, so there are only a few options around for eating other than the hotel restaurant. Staff are nice in general. Unfortunately the pool and fitness areas are managed by some third party and frankly it is not well managed or necessarily clean.

We stayed here one night and had a very nice stay. We did not have an ocean view room, since there was no availability on our booking site of choice. We arrived in the afternoon and sat outside with a drink and snacks, which were provided. Absolutely awesome view of the ocean! Hotel had a seating area upstairs inside where we sat and watched the sunset. Our dinner in the hotel was one of the best meals we’d had during our months stay in Portugal. Full breakfast, included of course! Excellent service in the bar and restaurant. I would definitely stay here again if the occasion should arise!

Lovely modern hotel. Perfect place to relax for a couple of days. We just sat on our balcony for hours watching the sea and countless locals out promenading. Were given a 'mountain' (i.e. car park) view room by mistake initially. (Definitely worth paying the extra.) We were asked to bring all our of stuff back down to reception to sort it out, but we insisted that someone come to us to sort it out. A manager came up and dealt with it very well in the end.

We often find there to be such a gulf between 4 star hotels these days. You never quite know what you are going to get. We were pleasantly surprised with Hotel Flor da Sal in Viana do Castello. It was really nicely appointed, the rooms were spacious, modern and clean. The location was great, with beautiful views to the sea. Yet the town centre was only a 1km walk away. Parking was secure and free which is always a bonus, especially as we had gone to Viana for a festival when parking can be a problem. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and again we were very impressed. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Viana do Castello.
