The place was fine, overall. The staff was nice. Anything that I actually had to interact with (dishes, bathroom, linens, bedding, etc.) seemed clean and neat; but the building itself and all of the common areas and amenities (hallways, TVs, furniture, windows, walls, etc) were all fairly old and outdated, as well as poorly maintained or cleaned. I also feel like they were drastically overcharging for the holiday season. I know everyone is, and it was ultimately my decision and poor choice; but I’ve been to NYC several times, and would have expected a similar level of accommodations in this neighborhood to be roughly half to one-third the cost of this one. I thought I was paying extra for comfort and convenience, but received neither.

The hotel has large rooms (if compared to the Manhattan hotels!) and good beds and towels in the bathrooms. The cafeteria at the reception level offers a good “Special Breakfast” at 13.99 and the restaurant on top (15th floor) has a good menu for dinner at a reasonable price, considering the view over Manhattan skyline!
Staff is kind and helpful. There are a couple of subway stations at walking distance: Queensboro bridge with no elevator and 3 lines and Queens Plaza with elevator and other 3 lines including the “E” to JFK Airport. I will use this hotel again!

Good: Rooms are cleaned everyday. Subway stations are only 5-10 mins walk. Staffs are friendly and helpful. They even hold our luggages for free even after we check out before flight.
Bad: housekeeping forgot the trash bags for 3 consecutive days while we stayed so we got to use our own. Washing sink drain slow. There is no mini fridge nor microwave in the room. Towels are not super clean.

I like my stay at Vista LIC. The property was clean with nice and professional staff. The hotel has a very nice rooftop bar/restaurant where you could see NYC skyline. The area is extremely convenient with a large number of subways/trains and only one or a few stops from Manhattan depending on which line you take. There are many shops, grocery stores and restaurants in the neighborhood. The downside of this Long Island City neighborhood is there are some homeless, which makes it not that safe walking alone during the night. For the hotel, the amenity was all great except that there was no fridge and the internet connection was pretty bad in my hotel room. Still, I highly recommend Vista LIC.

Don’t bother to ask for an extra towel because you will not get one.
