The newly remodeled room looked beautiful. Bathroom was awesome. It was very close to beach and restaurants which were quite good. Exceptional breakfast coffee shop right next door.

We were supposed to check in one hour early at 2pm, but couldn’t get room till after 4pm. Then they didn’t allow us our late checkout because someone was “coming right in” at 11:30am. We left stuff at desk and when we came back at 2:30pm our room was just being cleaned. Nobody waiting “to get in”. I even offered to pay extra for more time. They basically lied.

The Shoal was close to the beach and close to several restaurants that were very good. We explored the San Diego area by car during the day, but we walked to the awesome beach early mornings to watch the surfing and late evenings to watch the sunset every day while we were there. Our room at the Shoal was large, comfortable, clean and safe.

The parking lot filled up late in the evening so if we were late coming in parking could be difficult. Getting to the 2nd floor by stairs was difficult with luggage.

Staff is so rude. They love to bug about the smallest thing and when you ask for help they circle around and around trying to avoid you or helping you out.

I was harassed every night for no reason

the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. the bed is very comfortable and the rooms are really nice. the location is prime being a 3 minute walk from the beach. they have a big jacuzzi and a pool. overall it was a really great time!

Staff were absolutely fantastic - so kind and helpful, I'd go so far to say the most helpful and polite of our 2 month travels of the USA :D Room was beautiful and bed was mega comfy

Water pressure - the shower was just a drip Pool and jacuzzi could be modernised I think

You could hear everything. Doors closing, water running, people talking,etc.

Friendly staff, Clean, you can hear the ocean. Parking was great.

I hate paying for parking when I pay for a hotel. I guess because land is expensive they have to charge for parking.

The feel is more like a Motel rather than a Hotel. Also, parking is an additional fee and it is not guaranteed. Parking is also super tight, I wouldn’t advise large vehicles.

Property was very clean, good location, walking distance to decent food and the beach. Heated pool was very nice. Definitely would go back and stay when visiting the La Jolla area.

only down fall during our visit was the construction going on with the water main improvements. With construction equipment in the street made it very hard to enter and exit the property.
