Jeanie and Kim's house was wonderful. All we needed to do was get groceries from the store and we were set for our short spring break trip - everything else was provided! Direct access to the beach, plenty of outdoor space to enjoy the view, ample area in the house to be together or for alone time.

My family had a wonderful stay at Jeanie's waterfront home. The house was really lovely, very comfortable and spacious, and was well stocked for all of our needs. The beach was perfect and we loved how close it was to the fishing pier which we ended up walking to along the beach daily! I would definitely stay here again!

The house is very large. Nicely furnished and decorated. We had thanksgiving diner there with 7 gilts and 4 children and the dining room was more than adequate. Nicely appointed kitchen where we prepared the meal. The beach is a very short walk. We would definitely like to come back again maybe in the warmer months. The owners always responded to emails or Vrbo messages promptly

It was a good stay. The weather turned windy and cold but we manage to go sightseeing. We did get to the beach for our grandson to play in the sand. My biggest complain is the small rugs on the stairs were not attached real good which was a tripping hazard. The master bed was so high and solf that i had at hard time getting in it and im 5 ft 7.5 inches tall. The bed was really to solf for me.

Stay was great. House had everything you could need plus homey charm. View is great and so relaxing even from inside house. This is on the list to come back to.

We truly enjoyed our stay! The house was beautiful and bigger than I expected! The beach was also closer than I thought. We had plenty of room with four adults and four kids. We plan on coming back.

Love the entire stay at the home, all was just perfect for the family

This property is beautifully located on the bay with easy access to the beach. We enjoyed watching dolphins, paddle boarding, fishing, swimming, sunbathing and playing games on the beach. The house has a very well equipped kitchen, flat screen TVs in every bedroom, decks with tables and chairs at three locations as well as a nice gas grill. The property owners also have a well equipped gear room providing guests with everything from chairs to fishing nets, a canopy, sand castle tools and a wagon to transport everything to the beach. Convenience stores and the Ocean View Pier are within walking distance. We watched Naval and cargo ships move in and out of the bay daily. Everyone enjoyed our time there and hope to return again in the future.

The house was nice. The view was amazing. Loved all the outdoor sitting areas. Used the house and the cottage. The house had everything you needed for inside the house and for at the beach. The only complaint was the cleanliness of the house. Had a small problem and the response was right away and Kim was at the house within a few hours. Already recommending the place to other people.

We stayed 7 nights end of July 2023, this is our 5th year coming to Norfolk VA, and this has been the best overall rental we rented. The beach was mostly private, the house was plenty roomy for all of us. Huge deck, outside shower to clean off after the beach, AC works great, beds were super compfy, and had everyhting and then some for our stay. We also loved being so close to the fishing pier, the kids loved fishing. Thank you so much for helping us make the most out of our stay.

My family and I rented the house and cottage and both were lovely, cozy, and had everything we needed and more! This is also one of the only vacation rentals we’ve stayed in that had great working AC & wifi. The property was perfect and we appreciated the accessibility for the in-laws. We will 100% be booking again for next year!

We had a wonderful week at this lovely property! Our family of 6 was comfortable in the beach house, and my father enjoyed his own space in the cottage. The view was just amazing, and we usually had the beach to ourselves. The house was stocked with everything we needed...even birthday candles! We took advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards, and appreciated all the other beach supplies made available to us. There is so much to do in the area...and this really is a convenient spot. We went to Virginia Beach on several occasions, downtown Norfolk, and Williamsburg...all relatively short drives away. I would highly recommend this truly great rental!

This house was very nice with a great proximity to the beach and great views from the bedrooms and deck. The decorating details and arrangement of everything show how much the owners care for the house and want to keep it nice. The house is from the 30s so expect squeaky floorboards and other noises that come along with an older home, but it was beautifully updated and clean. The only demerit I could give is that the upstairs outlets are still original, which means that not only was there only one or two per room and none in the bathroom, but the ones there are loose and worn and my modern day charging cord for my phone had trouble staying in the wall. If you're looking to plug in, take your stuff downstairs! The beach itself was truly in the back yard. It was clean and private, which is exactly what I booked the house for. I'd rather drive to "stuff" than have a sea of people in front of me blocking my view. If you want a clean/cute house with little to no effort to get to the beach, I'd recommend this place.

Best vacation we’ve ever had. It was the first time seeing the ocean for my kids and myself, and it was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for allowing us to stay in this lovely, perfect, home.

This property is amazing! The view is spectacular, the house offers everything you could possibly need. The kayaks were so much fun! The Davenports went out of their way to accommodate my family’s needs. You can’t go wrong with these home!

Had a wonderful time

This sweet beach house had the 3 features my family was looking for in a holiday gathering place – near our Navy son, on the water, and handicap accessible. Both the beach house and the cottage were clean and comfortable, with all the little touches of convenience for a relaxing week. The living and dining rooms were open and ample, and the kitchen was well stocked and easily accommodated our Thanksgiving meal prep. The hosts were wonderful about communicating with us ahead of our stay, and even helped avert a last-minute mini-crisis in our plans – truly outstanding service! “Accessible” can mean different things to different people; our situation is a paraplegic family member in an electric wheelchair. My comments here are meant simply as information that may help others. Overall, the beach house was a good experience for us. We could easily navigate the open first floor and deck, which means our time together was really together. The lower bathroom had extra clearance around the toilet and the shower was set up well, although we were glad we brought our own shower chair; the room is wide enough for a powered wheelchair but too narrow to turn, which made transfer tricky. There is not a private bedroom downstairs in the beach house (the cottage is not considered chair-accessible due to the large entry steps and the small bathroom). Outside, the new ramp was very much appreciated, as was the spacious wraparound deck. There was even a wide-tire wagon that was perfect for taking our loved one to the beach (we could never have done that in the wheelchair). The path from the driveway to the beach house was made of pavers with large gaps between them, making for a bumpy ride, and we got stuck a few times. From the pavers to the new ramp, and from the deck into the house, are steps a few inches high; not impossible, we just had to get creative with door mats to make the transitions with the electric chair. These were minor items for us though, and we would certainly stay here again.

We were able to have our Navy son over with some of his coworkers for dinner and the grill was great to have for that! Also perfect spot for when we stepped out to walk the beach. We've been renting down at the beach forever, and while we've liked a lot of our houses, we absolutely LOVED this one. Maybe it was the fact it reminded me of the house I grew up in. Maybe it was the fact that from every front facing window, you saw water. Maybe it was the music that wafts over from the pier. I couldn't put my finger on ONE thing. I sort of think it was everything. The beds were cozy. The air conditioning was amazing. The water was toasty, and the owner had every possible thing you could ever need for the beach within reach. The kitchen was awesome, we even had a cookie baking night and I made Italian for 10. The house was quiet on the inside, no matter the sounds outside. We rented both the big house and the cottage, and the cottage was perfect for my sister, her husband and their 4-month old. Was it fancy and updated? Not everywhere. The downstairs bathroom (with beach access...genius) was amazing with a huge shower, tub, washer, dryer and vanity, and our Goddaughters nicknamed it the "Executive Bathroom". The other bathrooms were fine and on par for the home. Was it perfect and lived in and loved? YES. The dual decks made it nice for sunning all day, and there are multiple tables to eat outside. I don't think we ate inside once the entire time we were there. The internet was awesome, and there were tons of spots for multiple people to work from home. I really can't say enough about this place, and we're all so grateful you shared it with us.

I am beyond pleased with my overall experience! Communication with the owners and their willingness to accommodate us was 5 star. The house and beach front are beautiful! A quiet and private beach is what we wanted and that's what we experienced! Everyone in our family from 3 to 70 years of age thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The owners have done a great job providing all you may need for a beach house vacation! We look forward to returning next year!

Everything was great! The owners were good at communicating and we had a way to contact them if we needed. The property was beautiful! Exactly as advertised. The kayaks and paddleboards were such a blast! We really had an excellent family vacation. Thank you so much!

nice home with a lot of charm

Property was wonderful. Delivery menus were hanging on the kitchen wall, which was a plus for us. House had everything we could have possibly needed, and more. We wanted to eat at the pier, because we could walk to dinner, but our experience was a negative one. The fish tacos were nothing like described in the menu. Prices were expected, but quality was disappointing. The only concern I had about the property was this. Upon arrival, we found a note on the refrigerator, explaining to respect the neighbor with the plants and give them their privacy. We never bother anyone, so wasn’t a big deal. We were upon the top deck, with my 21 month old grandson. He was super excited about the planes which were always flying over, and was repeatedly saying, “airPANE, airPANE…”. We hadn’t been up there but a couple minutes, when the neighbor angrily requested for us to “shut the child up, or take IT inside!”. Then he mumbled a very disturbing phrase, which I won’t repeat. We went inside, but I can tell you that situation did not go over well with us. My husband later spoke with the man, and he apologized. Apology excepted, but if you do have small children, you may want to reconsider, if they are noisy. I would have like to have been prewarned about the whole neighbor situation myself. Other than that, the place is GREAT!

This was an amazing place to stay. It is a beautiful home in a picturesque location and the owners take such care in providing amenities for EVERYTHING. They had all of the items imaginable for a beach vacation. We even had two small children and they had highchairs and a pack-and-play (we didn’t need them, but its nice to know it was provided). We have so much gratitude towards these hosts and their thoughtful attitude towards making this place an unforgettable stay. Down to the last detail this was a fantastic rental and we will be back!!
