We all love North Kohala and now there is a way to enjoy it while visiting the Big Island! Terri was easy to work with, Kahua is lovely and the hale cozy.

This is the best rental we have ever experienced. Everything about it was perfect. The location is incredible. The views were amazing. I can wholeheartedly recommend this unit to anyone.

House: The Ohana Hale is super comfortable. It has a great cozy, cabin in the woods vibe. It's beside the owner's house. Teri is super helpful and nice and very responsive. There is a very nice, outdoor cat named Smudge, who doesn't go indoors. We also petted some very nice horses that we named The Triplets as the 3 were always together. Ranch property: You can literally walk to the Na'alapa Stables for a wonderful 1-2.5 h ride. The views are amazing just beyond the little wooded area. There are nearby hikes and the property is between Waimea and Hawi for restaurants. We loved our stay. It was so calming and peaceful.

Very clean well appointed space. Everything you need and nothing you don’t. The ability and freedom to explore the property allows you to experience on the some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen in my life. Highly recommend the Paniolo BBQ dinner hosted on site on Wednesdays and the on site horseback tour. Terry is a wonderful host! Clear and easy communication and most accommodating with everything! I can’t wait to come back to the Big Island so my family can come Back here and make more memories! Mahalo!!

The property is very well stocked with all the basic cooking supplies. We did not cook there but if we wanted to we certainly could. The rooms were nice sized and beds were comfy. The property is on a gorgeous ranch with stunning views of the ocean and mountains. We did the horse back ride along with staying there and received a discount. Highly recommend that as well. The hosts answered our questions in a timely manner and were very nice in person as well. Would highly recommend this property!!

The home was clean and comfortable on a beautiful ranch. The views are breathtaking. I wish we would have had more time and better weather to explore the ranch. The beach supplies and cooler were a great touch. My daughter was thrilled to have a boogie board to play in the ocean and it was nice to have chairs to relax on the beach. It has everything you could need and more.

Had an amazing time at this Hawaii ranch VRBO stay! The views were breathtaking, with visibility of other islands from the property and unparalleled stargazing. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, enriching our experience with the ranch’s fascinating history and maintaining the estate beautifully.

This is a comfortable, clean home with comfy beds on the north tip of the island, with an awesome nighttime stargazing opportunity because there are no exterior lights to distract from the sky. Hospitality is this host's priority which makes guests feel welcome like good friends/family. My family hopes to return to the island someday, and it would be a privilege to stay here again.

Beautiful and peaceful stay at the Ranch. This is a 7th Generation Family Ranch in the Mountains of the Big Island. If you like quiet, off the beaten path places this stay is for you! We loved it. It was my 5 year old, husband and I. We had fun walking the property with amazing views of the valley and seeing all the farm animals. Note—the elevation change is significant so the temperature is not the same as on the coast. We enjoyed that but is worthy to note for those that do not realize it. Its about 10-15 minute drive from town. Comfortable beds, washer dryer available, full kitchen, all was good!

Whether you are returning from a quick dip in the surf at Hapuna Beach, or from a trek down to the Volcano Park or better yet from world-class yakitori MOA restaurant in Waimea, you will be beyond delighted to return this warm and welcoming ‘ohana with one heck of a view. Clean, quiet, and peaceful. Every time, my family would express their gratitude that we fortunate enough to stay here.

have visited Kohala over 25 years, the place is wondrous this particular lodging has none of the views advertised from the actual rooms you are occupying, yet owners allow you to walk or drive all about the ranch for those views.

This is such a beautiful property. Hard to expand on what others have already shared. Nice, clean, and new apartment. The drive to the ranch is breathtaking. My friend and I wanted to experience a stay off the regular tourist circuit and this property was a perfect way to spend our last two days on the island. We'll definitely be back!

What a wonderful location. Staying on a ranch 3000 feet above sea level on the Big Island. The Ohana Hale was very clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped so that you can cook your meals if you choose to. The BBQ also worked very well. Teri is a fantastic host. She communicated the arrival instruction very well. She was very responsive to any questions that came up. I would absolutely stay here again.

The place is very nice -all you could need. Yards away are panoramas of ocean and distant mountains with Kohala Mountain pastureland in the foreground. A working ranch with horses, cattle, sheep and one pet pig. It's over a hundred years old with an interesting history. Very relaxing and quite private. Terri was great.

This stay was a highlight of our trip. The unit was spacious, clean and comfortable. But what really makes it stand out is the location, the land it’s on and the amazing views it has. It's a nice place where to base yourself while visiting the north part of the island. Everything was so easily accessible. Yet when you are up there, you feel like you are in another world completely. The hosts were very nice too and took the time to tell us about their amazing ranch and their kids even took time to show our kids all their animals. Wish we would have stayed longer!

Beautiful property. A remote, relaxing location about 20 minutes from great beaches and cute towns with nice restaurant options. Make sure you walk the property a bit to take in the wonderful views. Very clean with all of the extras to help make your trip go smoothly. Would definitely stay again!

Terri's home was THE surprise of our trip. The home is comfortable and exactly as described. There is no view from the home itself, but this is more than made up by the views available from the ranch. Pictures online don't do justice to the breathtaking views that are available just a short walk from the home, where we have access to a very large "private" grassy area that is perfect for sunsets, stargazing or just relaxing. We were amazed how lucky we were to have access to such a perfect spot on a working ranch on Big Island, with cattle and horses and all! Of all the places we have been on the Big Island, this is the one that the kids miss the most. Terri was very helpful in getting the kids on a horse ride on the property at the last minute too! Just a short (always rewarding) ride from the Kohala coast beaches, the beautiful Pololu Valley, and the Waimea area. All in all, if you seek staying away from the crowds, you simply cannot pass this rental. Mahalo Terri!

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place! We love this ranch. The drive here from the Kona airport is easy & AMAZING. The views are stunning! Hosts Terri & Tim are so sweet and accommodating. We only got to stay here a couple of days before family arrived & we had to move to a larger place. This was our first time in Hawaii and I seriously hope to come back & stay here again. Mahalo Terri & Tim!

Lovely property with beautiful views. The sunset was absolutely gorgeous. The owners provided lots of tips, even though they were a bit under the weather. Space was very comfortable. Only negatives were the cobwebs on the outside of the windows (one of my kids doesn't like spiders), water wasn't clear but told drinkable (they provided bottled water to drink) and shared laundry machine was down stairs but open to living space.

Our two-night stay was special and memorable. The cottage was lovely, well furnished and very clean. Our hosts Terri and Tim were welcoming and helpful. We’d love to stay again!

My husband and I came during a blustery March and enjoyed ourselves so much. Terri and Tim are so very helpful and generous. They were quick to communicate and answered all of our questions about things to see in the area, activities etc. We were thankful for the beach supplies, coffee, and water that they supplied for us. We fell in love with Custard the pig, and were in total awe of the property. Our favourite part was walking up to the weather tower and sitting on the lawn in total serenity. The horses and cows kept an eye on us and we loved coming back to our cozy home at the end of a beach day. The drive itself is something you'll never forget. Thanks so much Terri and Tim!

This property is beautiful. The accommodations were perfect. We went to the Paniolo BBQ the night before and it was a short walk up the driveway from this property. After three very long travel days, it was the perfect place to let our family rest and run around without having to worry. The Kona coffee in the morning was a wonderful treat. I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay here many times over. The hosts are friendly and helpful. We actually had a flight cancellation and Terri worked with us to rebook. Our family had a great time here! We enjoyed the amazing view, especially for sunset and also for stargazing and the cosy and comfortable home. Terri was a great host and easy to contact directly. Great location on the Kohala, not far away from Waimea, Hawi and some nice beaches on the West coast!

My friend and I loved our stay at Ohana Hale! The unit was so clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed and nice decor and furnishings. The sunset views from the lawn are spectacular! Our host Terri was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again - for a longer visit! Just be sure to carefully read the directions to get there as I should have done!
