We had an amazing time! A small group of friends (6) went for my husband’s 30th birthday. With all the craziness of the pandemic we all needed a relaxing getaway! The house is beautiful and the pictures don’t do it justice. The beds were super comfy and the hot tub was wonderful to relax and look at the stars at night. We spent a lot of time on the screened in porch. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend and will definitely be back to Fern Brook in the future!

Let me start by saying I gave the rental company and owners time to review my concerns before posting this. I thoroughly reviewed the website & asked the question is this home a good rental for someone with a walker and was told yes. When I arrived with my 89 year old Mother I saw the two back sets of steps did not have a railing on either side and it was very difficult to get her in. However here are the extreme negatives. The upstairs tub has no grip strips on the tub floor and one family member fell, the basement TV never worked after three people tried, no thermostat in the basement, the powder room on the first floor is very small and you cannot fit a walker, the master bathroom shower rack is broken and there is no grip bar so the possibility of a fall is great, you cannot drive your car into the carport and Viking oven did not work properly. Now for the disturbing aspect of this home. The main steps going upstairs and down do not have a rail bar from the landing down the two steps and are extremely slippery. My Aunt fell as she had nothing to grab onto and slipped right on her head. She had to be life flighted from the property to WVU and was in ICU for four days. Accidents do happen but both inside and outside steps need railings for safety. The only response I received from rental was, hope she is okay with my agreement attached. If you have children or elderly visitors beware as yes it's beautiful but it needs some major safety features added.

Our family of 4 met friends, a family of 5, all with children ages 9-4 at Fern Brook. The house was perfect for the 9 of us. The kids had plenty of room to play in the basement and loved sleeping together in the bunk room. The adults had a great time playing cards on the screened in porch. There was plenty of room for us all to share meals together and the local attractions were amazing!

Beautiful house!

Fern Brook is a gorgeous property -- 10 of us went here for a weekend and were not disappointed. The best parts are definitely the beautiful backyard with the brook running through it, plus the huge front-porch with the swing. The bathroom in the master bedroom is also incredible. The basement bedroom is a bit dark, and the basement itself feels a little bit empty, but that didn't really take away from the experience, which was overall fantastic. Would definitely come back! Mountaintop is always easy and painless to work with.

It was absolutely perfect and actually exceeded our expectations!!!! If we come back to Canaan, I will rent this property again!!! Superb service!

Loved the waterfall and hot tub out back

Loved the waterfall. Loved the hot tub. Golfing and shopping . We r very family oriented and play family game shows and cook and eat.my husband always wanted to this family gathering for years and it never materialized. So after he passed I made it happen in his honor and memory.

Love the office staff. Maintenance crew was very responsive, too, when the water got cut off (utility work up the road, apparently).

Mountaintop was great to work with. Easy in/Easy out. Couldn’t ask for a better experience. Will definitely rent from Mountaintop Rentals again

the driveway configuration remains puzzling. does the raised/paved walkway need to be there? makes it hard to back two large vehicles into the driveway, close to the covered area, given the curved wall on the other side. otherwise, love this house. Becky is great, very responsive

We loved the property! Besides the hot tub getting cold very quickly, we wouldn’t have changed a thing! We absolutely loved the running stream behind the hot tub. It made it so peaceful and relaxing! We arrived after hours so we just got our keys from the box, but during check out the service was good and super quick and easy.

We really enjoyed our stay in this property. The property is well equipped with everything. We had 8 people in our party and there was plenty of space for everyone. Would definitely recommend this property! Everyone I spoke to was very pleasant and helpful.

We would like to return someday but are hesitant that not all amenities will be serviceable. They were professional but limited on their ability to fix some of the issues we found during our stay. We were told that someone would come out and the first day they did but didn't finish going through the list. The second day the maintenance crew never showed up. If we had an alum wrench we could have tightened fixtures. We think the gas fireplace just needed to have the batteries recharged but they were calling in a tech. We do want to acknowledge the great job the cleaning crew are doing!

The house (Fern Brook) was really beautiful and came with a very well-stocked kitchen. Gas fireplace in living room. Bar table in kitchen. Hot tub. Excellent kitchen appliances.

This property is gorgeous and has a wonderful backyard complete with a rock wall and stream. My son meditated in the backyard, and you can access the chimera while enjoying a soak in the hot tub. The grill is awesome. The team was great, really Covid friendly and clear.

Fern Brook is a wonderful place for a tranquil family get away, sitting high on the side of a mountain with a brook flowing right down to the edge of the back patio, tucked into a forest of tall hardwoods. The home is great for larger groups. The kitchen was very well appointed, the baths are finished very nicely (especially the massive walk in shower in the master!), and the game room downstairs just begs everyone to come hang out together.We especially enjoyed having relaxed dinners in the screened in porch while listening to the brook bubble down the mountainside.

Our family really enjoyed our stay. The property had plenty of room for us, was very well appointed, had all the desired housewares, was very clean, and the location was perfect for us. The screened in porch dining area was perfect for relaxed dinners and enjoying the cool evening air. While we had only one pretty limited interaction with your staff, it was efficient, professional and cordial.

The downstairs family room/bedroom was a huge benefit for us as it allowed all the kids to sleep/play while allowing some quieter time upstairs for the adults. Trickier due to current conditions.

Our group had a very nice weekend stay. The house was in great condition and very comfortable for our group. We enjoyed spending time at the house and hiking in Dolly Sods. Staff members were very friendly and very responsive to our questions and requests. The team members were very responsive to questions and requests via email, both before and during our stay. They were also very friendly during check-in and check-out.
