Herrieden is a beautiful, charming city with a lot of storks - we saw 16 storks alltogether sitting on the roof of the Basilica. Beyond the citygate there is the small river, Altmühl, with its beautiful bridge and romantic landscape. The hotel answers every need: we spent there only one night, so we didn't need much, but there were every kind of rooms (smaller, bigger, quiet, "noisy", overlooking the garden or the road), sauna and a really big breakfast area that delighted the eye. There was also a hearty buffet breakfast with everything that one could imagine.

Our room was in the building Nr. 1. on the 2nd floor, directly under the roof, and as the weather was really hot, the room was also uncomfortably warm (without air condition). There was no elevator (but it was just being developed - so it is possible that those who travel there in September 2023 or later will be able to use the elevator also). As our windows were overlooking the main road, the traffic noise was unexpectedly disturbing - who could imagine that Herrieden had so heavy traffic?

Value and location

The property located on the edge of a quiet, picturesque village, with nice views all around. The restaurant on the property had many excellent choices of beer and food. Lots of parking, nicely decorated facilities, spacious breakfast room, many delicious choices in the breakfast buffet.

Our room was the closest to the breakfast area, so we heard some noises in the morning.

Room was perfectly cleaned. Stuff is english speaking, possibility to eat supper around 22:00hrs which is not common. Great taking care of the guest.

The Breakfast is unbelievable good and the staff is very friendly.

Very nice location just off the motorway - great room, nice personal, great restaurant with local food and beers
