Everything was perfect! Staying at Happy Island Miyako felt like having a second home far from home - and a second family far from home. The whole hostel is designed with so much love to detail, it's awesome! The rooftop is exceptional for viewing sunsets or to just chill in one of the hammocks. The living room is the heart of the house and the perfect place to spend time with other guests and the hosts, every evening you could join and have dinner together. On top of that, everything was always very clean and tidied up. The shower room is very spacious and clean as well. Nothing to complain! Thank you so much for having me, Wakana, Max-san and Happy the cat! An unforgettable experience! I'll return! またきます！

The best hostel I’ve stayed in Japan. The owner Max and Wakana the staff were really cool and friendly and Happy-chan the cat is very cute. The hostel has a great atmosphere and the communal areas downstairs and the terrace are relaxing places to hang out. I had the private room with beds and the mattress and pillow are super comfortable.

It wasn’t a problem for me because I used earphones to sleep anyway but you can hear guests in the dormitory snoring through the wall.

The house is fairly close to restaurants and there’s a supermarket nearby.

Max is a great host! Friendly and easy going

Happy Island Miyako is one of the best guesthouses we’ve ever stayed! Feels like home and wished to stay longer. Max is indeed one of the best hosts ever, together with Shiori. Our Miyakojima experience is so memorable with these guys! Our bed is comfortable, everything you need is here! free towel rentals, toiletries, water, condiments for cooking and even laundry! We’ve celebrated Max’s 60th birthday and this night is one of the most memorable nights I’ve ever had in my backpacking experience. The host also helped us to rent a car during the busiest days of Obon week. We are truly grateful! Thank you so much, Max and Shiori (and Happy!!) !!! Indeed a wonderful experience. Indeed a ‘Happy Island’ Miyako ^_^

The property itself is great location. You can also rent scooter from shops nearby if you want to get around. Just remember that you need a Japanese license or an international license if you are a foreigner. Max is an excellent host. You can ask him anything about Miyako and he will help you out. He helped me find dive shops so I could scuba dive in Miyako. The place is very relaxing and you will feel at home. The other guests where really cool and friendly. I even had hot plate with them.

The guesthouse is cute and art-sy. The room I was in had a great view and I could open the windows. There were two beds in the room, one was softer and one was more firm so I could choose. There was a friendly community feeling among the guests that was great. It is a short walk from Family Mart, short walk to rent an electric bicycle, etc. Even though it was raining I could use the hammocks and eat outside on the large balcony. I did a sea turtle snorkeling tour with the owner and it was fantastic. The owner, Max-San knew exactly what time of day to go and which part of the beach was best, I could have a wetsuit, snorkeling gear, towels, etc it was great! We saw 7+ turtles and he made photos and video of it for me. I highly recommend the tour. Also of course the cat Happy-chan was so friendly ^_^ I hope to return again.

It was great to be able socialize with the other guests of the house. The terrace is also great - lots of space to relax.

The owner and staff (and the guests during my stay) were super kind and open. Even if your japanese isn't that good, they try to welcome you and make you feel nice during your stay. There is also a really cute black cat.

there is only one air conditioner in the shared rooms. If you can't sleep in a warm room you might have a hard time when your bed is not close to the air con.

The staff was so friendly, it's a new hotel and you get what you pay for.

The only problem was that the ac in the shared room takes a while to cool the whole place, and it wasn't enough to cool the whole place so I felt a bit warm. But otherwise you pretty much get what you pay for and all facilities
