Accommodation and site very clean. Site staff friendly and helpful but see comments below.

Although booked through Booking.com this was a private let via Sykes Cottages. As a private let there was no access to the site WiFi (more bizarre with a large TV with Amazon and Sky, but could only access Sky). Also any maintenance issues had to go through Sykes and not via site. Booking documents only had number for to the cleaner (v helpful) so had to Google phone number for Sykes.

We booked this for a little Easter break and it was lovely. The nicest static home we have stayed in and would definitely come back. It was only a 10 minute drive to Gisburn forest and there was a lovely pub, park and swimming pool onsite.

They provided some bread, milk, butter and tea. It was very kindly. Furniture was very good but double bed was very small.

We asked the host put a cot and high chair for our baby but there was no cot and high chair. Entrance and living room smelled strongly doggie smell. Some cups and cutting boards were dirty and dog food was on the floor so our baby was almost eating it! The last day, we put hot water into the bathtub and realized hot water was somehow dirty…like sand was in there…I don’t know why because of heavy rain…?

The lodge was peaceful and quiet, there were lots of little extras, which came as a surprise, because the info from Sykes Holiday Cottages gave us the impression that we needed to provide everything ourselves. It was spotlessly clean and the welcome pack was very useful. I liked the simple decor and the lack of clutter, and we felt very relaxed and "at home".

I didn't like dealing with Sykes, and never will again. A last minute booking so we paid up front, and only after we'd paid, did they tell us there was no wi-fi. They bombarded me with 12 lengthy, repetitive emails in 24 hours, which I found invasive and intrusive. When I contacted them by email regarding a question I had, no-one replied. A faceless organisation. They sent a list of items we would need to take, including a picnic blanket!!! Err, I have been away before. The list was patronising and condescending. No-one answered the contact number, despite me leaving messages.
