I urge anyone considering this Marriott to continue driving away from this location. I made a mistake of an on line reservation and they were demanding $45 for parking even before I entered hotel. I took a look around the block and saw awful neighhood blight, broken windows and homeless. I did not feel safe at this location so I continued to Alameda's Wyndham where my hubbby and I got superior service and free parking and a good night sleep. Thank you Wyndham!!

The stay was great but I wasn't prepared to pay $53 for parking. And the food was great

Area around this hotel in downtown Oakland is very unsafe-feeling at night. And the hotel door onto Broadway was locked so that when I arrived at 10:00 at night I could not get in! There was no sign that customers had to go around the corner to the only door that was open. Meanwhile there were two poor deranged guys that were taking up the sidewalk and I had to walk into the street to avoid them.

Requested early check-in a day before was informed that I’d have to come to the front desk and ask if any rooms were available on the day of my arrival.
I arrived at 2 pm and ask if any room were available and was told rooms weren’t ready. I returned at my check in time and was told again that no clean rooms were available. Eventually the manager got involved and magically a room became available.

Great morning service at the cafe!!! Tall African-American gentleman was polite, respectful, and courteous. Front desk staff were terrific as well.

Great hotel!!! I had a wonderful time.Their rooms are clean. Their staff are friendly. The hotel has a restaurant/bar and pool. Their complementary breakfast is delicious, healthy and satisfying with a lot of options to choose from. And finally the location, the hotel is just a few blocks away from the Bart train station and a 15 minute walk to Jack London Square where there is dining and entertainment. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends. I give this hotel a four star rating. Thank you Courtyard by Marriott Oakland. Keep up the good work!!!

We only stayed one night but the room was very clean and beds comfortable overall. A decent hotel and service was good. Would’ve been nicer to have more fresh cooked food from the Bistro (not microwaved) but it was ok. Wish the pool could’ve been heated and wish all Marriotts would allow for earlier check in options.
Overall the hotel was decent. The staff was really great.

This is a nice Marriott. My only real complaint would be the restaurant doesn't stay open all day. It should stay open through the lunch hour, at least till 2:00pm. It's noisy but, it's not their fault. It's located in downtown Oakland.
