The owners do the work and they do it nicely. We felt very welcome. Good location, close to Voulisma beach. A food shop was right accros the road. We had nice treace whic has our “restaurant”. An interesting “swiming pool” at the rooftop ;) We got several presents from their homegrown products fruits, egs, olive oil..

I had an excellent time in Istra! My apartment was very comfortable, always clean, good WiFi, good AC, no issues with water. It had a balcony where one could dry the swimming suite and enjoy the evening observing the sea and olive trees. Bathroom was specious, with the curtains for the shower, small window. There was a kitchenette with microwave, cooking plates, fridge, so that one also could cook a breakfast or warm up the meal. It was a very practical and comfortable place to stay! I was before in many hotels and apartments in Crete, but Vrokastro is absolutely the winner in all terms: value for money, comfort, practicality, host and location. It is a great location in Crete! You can drive to Ierapetra and take a ship to Chrysi, or drive to Toplou Monastry and Vai beach, Agios Nikolaos is 15 min drive away and Heraklion is about an hour. I could always find a parking place, had no issues. There are supermarket just opposite from the apartment and many tavernas (Kavos, above the Voulisma beach, was my favourite☺️). The beaches are easy to reach, with or without sun beds and umbrellas. The sea is amazing, turquoise color, transparent water, sandy (no swimming shoes are needed). There was one day when the waves came and brought little rubbish in the water. I took a car and went to Vai beach then, but it was only once. Mochlos is about 30 min drive and is a very calm nice fishing village, good place to dine once. A separate Wao ☺️👍 shall be said to the host! It is a family that runs the apartment and they definitely contributed to my impression from this place. I was overwhelmed with their welcoming atmosphere and hospitality ❤️There was a bottle of local wine and fruits on the table when I arrived, then I was twice offered bottles with olive oils, so that I started to worry about the weight of my luggage☺️ Later they brought a big and tasty cake to me, very delicious, safe-made that I, to my shame, could not finish. Sorry!

Excellent service from a family business We had chocolates and basic food on arrival .And on leaving we was given a gift by the owners/family which was a very nice gesture Good location in Istro , easy access to other areas in Crete
