Where is Phu Quoc?
A tropical island resort off the southern coast of Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand is Phú Quốc. Phu Quoc International airport has flights to the island from Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Siem Reap. Walking, taxis, and motorbikes are the best way to get around Phú Quốc.
What is Phu Quoc known for?
With white sand beaches and inland tropical jungle, Phú Quốc quickly evolved over the last 20 years from sleepy fishing villages to a major resort destination. The island is nicknamed “Pearl Island” due to the bounty of pearls produced locally, both naturally harvested and farmed. Scuba diving is popular on the south end of the island from An Thoi and off the north end at Turtle Island. One section of the north end provides an ideal spot for beginners to learn how to dive. Boat tours, bus tours, and jungle jeep tours assist visitors with seeing as much of the area as they would like. The northeast corner of the island is a designated national park. Aside from pearl farms, you will find black pepper farms and fish sauce factories to explore for cultural appreciation.

- Phú Quốc Bus Tour: For the best way to tour the whole island efficiently, take the Phú Quốc Bus Tour and loop around the island to see a handful of attractions in 15 stops. The bus is hop-on-hop-off style and the ticket is good for six hours, which gives you more than enough time.
- Vinpearl Safari & VinWonders: Vietnam’s largest zoo, Vinpearl Safari, consists of 2,000 animals from 130 species. It is exceptionally well-run and clean, with a bus that takes visitors through the whole property. There are many opportunities to get close and feed animals, including elephants and giraffes. Another attraction less than 20 minutes away from Vinpearl Safari is a theme park similar to Disneyland, called VinWoners — complete with a European-style castle and divided into worlds like Wild West, Persian Oasis, and Egyptian Valley. It is one of the most well-known theme parks in Southeast Asia. Many attractions in this area use the name “VinPearl” so be sure to confirm your destination on a map when making arrangements.
