This property will not disappoint. Scenery and solitude as far as the eye can see as well as a beautifully appointed house that will make you feel right at home.

Absolute perfection, amazing views, close to Bar Harbor, Northeast Harbor, Cranberry Isles, and everything Acadia. There are far too many good things to say. If you have the chance visit the area and stay at this amazing house.

Although it offered more space than needed, I was attracted to the photos in Stonehaven's listing by its proximity to the sea and, my favorite, tide pools! Stonehaven delivered on that and provided so much more! On entering I was immediately struck by the beautiful view, cleanliness of the property and overall warmth and welcoming vibe. The location feels wonderfully remote but there are neighbors adjacent to the property which is bordered and sheltered by Maine's tall evergreens. Stonehaven can offer blissful solitude but is also well suited for groups and families and fully equipped for any Down East vacation activity.
Tom is the consummate, thoughtful host! Even before arrival he sends a detailed guide to the property as well as suggestions for activities, sights, restaurants and shopping (don't miss the Winter Harbor 5 & 10, like walking back into the '50s!) I took many of his suggestions and thoroughly enjoyed them.
I highly recommend Stonehaven for any stay on the beautiful Maine coast. I'm looking forward to returning, next time with my daughter (who lives on the "other" coast in Santa Monica) to explore tide pools together!

We had such a great time at Stonehaven!
It was so perfect for our family of 4. Our girls (9 &16) loved having the loft to themselves!
We have rented many homes and this one really stands out for us. It checked all the boxes: clean, well-equipped, beautiful view, incredibly helpful welcome guide. But it also just felt like it was a home that has been cared for and holds a lot of good memories. Nothing too fancy, just everything you need. We spent mornings and evenings on the deck, exploring the rocks, using the fire pit or puzzling inside late at night. It was such a wonderful way to connect with our kids and made us all so happy. On our last night we even saw dolphins!
We also really loved the location of the house and that it was removed from the craziness of Bar Harbor, but also totally accessible if you wanted to do a day trip there. Schoodic, which is only 10 minutes away, was SO stunning. We did the Little Moose Island hike - highly recommend. And I would also drive out and park to go for a run around the point.
Our favorite place to relax and easily get in the ocean was Grindstone Point. We ate lunch at JM Gerrish, shopped at the 5 & 10 and absolutely would recommend you get to the Bakery!! We also visited the very charming Darthia Farm multiple times for produce, jam and chicken. Thank you so much to Tom for a wonderful stay. We all loved the house (even my teenager!) and created many of our own memories on this trip.

We thought we’d be able to swim in the ocean from the rental, you cannot. I assumed the rental had AC but it was 82 inside when we arrived. It wasn’t bad after the first night. We left the windows and doors open to cool the place off. I loved scavenging the rocks for ocean finds during low tide, found two pieces of sea glass and many cool finds! The house has pretty much everything you’ll need and the beds are nice.

My family and I were so happy with our stay at Stonehaven. We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful and relaxing stay! The property was exactly as pictured and waking up to the waves crashing on the rocks was magical!
Thomas and his family have really worked so hard to ensure guests are well-informed with clear instructions, visuals, and a comprehensive welcome booklet with useful information about the house as well as honest overview of the businesses nearby. Also, Bill next door was a wonderful proxy for Thomas, welcoming us and ensuring any questions were answered. The best part was how everyone waved at us when we traveled on the road to and from the house!
The Schoodic Peninsula was so beautiful! I can’t say enough about coastal Maine’s wild beauty! Forests as far as the eye can see, rolling hills, and views of the ocean all around. The only thing that was a little challenging for us suburban types was that businesses close much earlier than we’re used to and it takes about 30min to get to the nearest town, Winter Harbor. Also, please ensure you follow the speed limits and don’t drive distracted. We almost witnessed a man get run over near the ice cream shop by a distracted driver making a fast turn!!
We made the trip to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park twice during our stay -beautiful! It took us about 1.5hrs to get there from the house. We loved being able to visit and then “come home” to peace and quiet!
All in all - we loved Stonehaven and Maine!! ❤

This little retro A-frame cabin is better than I expected. The view and proximity to the water can't be beat. I love the remoteness, although it is only 10 min drive to Winter, Birch or Prospect Harbor. This house is perfect for a family with kids as there is only one queen bed and the rest are singles. The kitchen has everything needed to cook and the deck is HUGE. But my son's favorite was the fire-pit on the beach which we used each night making smores. Thomas was very easy to work with as a host. This is the first time we stayed on the Schoodic Peninsula and we like it better than Mt. Desert Island. It's less crowded and more serene. The part of Acadia on the Peninsula is perfect for bike riding and hiking. There is a bike rental shop across from the entrance to the park. The Treehouse Seafood and grill in Winter Harbor was surprisingly gourmet. Next summer we will be coming back here instead of Mt. Desert Island. I highly recommend this property.

Nice quite place, clean, as advertised also. Communication with owner was prompt. Owner recommended a nearby restaurant for dinner that was spot on. Firepit on the beach was a huge plus! Would absolutely recommend...

I can't imagine a better place to experience Maine! The house feels very remote but is close to the northern Acadia National Park area.
It had everything we could hope for and more! The amenities are top-notch with everything you need to steam fresh local lobsters to the rather cool telescope for looking out over the ocean (or skies if you prefer). The accommodations were very home-like.
The added touch beyond other places is the screening and communications with the owner. I like the fact that they ask a little about ourselves. It made me feel like they want only quality guests, which I appreciate. Also, when we got there the neighbor came over and introduced himself. He said if there is anything we need just let him know. How nice!
This is on the ocean. Well, not ON the ocean, but you can't really get any closer. The crashing waves are just out front - which, by the way, makes for a rather pleasant real-life "wave machine" to lull one to sleep!
On a scale of 1 to 10, this is a solid 11!

My SO and I fully enjoyed out stay at this very pleasant property. The accommodations met or exceeded our needs and the coastal views, coupled with good weather and the spectacular Atlantic, were nothing short of inspiring. The road trip up and back (10+ hours, one-way) was tough on our backs, but we are undaunted and hope to return in the near future.

We loved that the home was available as it was in such an awesome location right on the ocean. Having the sunrise in the morning and moonrise at dusk was sweet. The home has everything and was so appreciated.

Every time at this place is heaven! When we arrived it was kind of rainy but we made the very most of our time here. We were here for four nights, two were wet and two were sunny. We were able to go to Tracey's for chowder, which is not far, and the Loop, which was breathtaking. We got to meet Bill next door and he was very nice! We were going to visit him but because of Hurricane Lee, we left one night earlier.

A trip to Maine was on our bucket list, and Stonehaven did not disappoint. The view was gorgeous, and the only sounds were of crashing waves, sea birds, and lobster boats. A perfect place to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary!

Wow! What a wonderful house on the rocky Maine coast. Stonehaven has all the amenities you can ask for, and yet all we wanted to do during our week there was watch the ocean. The view is mesmerizing. We never once turned on the TV! Did some hiking/biking in the scenic Schoodic-peninsula part of Acadia (about a 5-minute drive from the house), ate at some good local restaurants (lobster roll heaven), cooked in the well-equipped kitchen, and fell asleep at night to the sound of the ocean waves. We were also amazed to see the most wonderful full-moon rising over the ocean.Tom was the perfect host, anticipating our every need, and we enjoyed talking with Bill, the neighbor, who was also there in case we needed any trouble-shooting (we didn't!). Drove over to MDI on a Monday (about an hour), but of course there was a cruise ship in the harbor, and the main part of Acadia was terribly crowded. Since we had visited there before, we were more than happy to get back to our peaceful paradise! The house is clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated, with a full complement of brochures for local activities and an extensive welcome booklet put together by Tom.There were games, puzzles, movies, books (my favorite was Ulysses, a light summer read, hahaha), a lobster cooker, a sound system, a firepit by the rocky beach, and even a telescope for looking at the stars. One of our best Maine vacations, and I would come back to Stonehaven in a heartbeat. Thanks Tom for sharing it with us!

My best friend and I wanted a relaxing retreat this year and Stonehaven was exactly that. The views are breathtaking, the sound of the ocean soothes and the location offers something for everyone within an hour. We all slept amazingly well, never turned on the tv and the property had everything we needed. Communication with Tom and some tips from neighbor Bill was easy and welcome. For once we had a vacation that didn’t make us feel like we needed to recover from.
8.0 / 10.0
The location of the house for privacy and the view of the ocean were superb! However, I would have chosen a different house had I known the lighting in the main bathroom was so faint it was not usable for makeup or for my husband shaving. You had to go into the living room for both. Also the futon in the living room that was the primary seating was absolutely horrible. I wanted to go buy a couch it was so bad. If you are out exploring you may not notice how uncomfortable it is but if it was a rainy day then it was unbearable. These two things really affected the happiness with the house.

We’ve been visiting the Schoodic Peninsula for years, but this was our first VRBO experience and we couldn’t have found a better home. The small harbor towns and the house are complete gems. Tom was very helpful before and during our stay. The house was perfect for our family. Everything that we needed was there and more! We hope to visit again soon. Thank you for your hospitality, Tom!

We had a wonderful stay at Stonehaven! The location can’t be beat. Watching the sun set over the water and making s’mores at the fire pit was the perfect way to end a busy day spent exploring Acadia. The neighbor was kind enough to come over and introduce himself and make sure our stay was going smoothly. We only wish we could have stayed for longer than two nights, we will definitely look to stay here again if we are ever back in the area!

My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. The house was exactly as described. The kids (14, 12, 9) loved climbing over the rocks and looking for sealife or just watching the waves. We also played games. My daughter took the single bedroom, and the boys took the loft. Gave everyone room to spread out. The kitchen was very well stocked, although we didn't use it much ... too many good seafood restaurants! The drive to Bar Harbor wasn't too bad - we had already looked that up and known we would be about 1hr away. We are hoping to make it back soon!

The Stonehaven property is excellent and one of the best where we've ever stayed. I proposed to my girlfriend on the deck looking out over the water (she said yes!!).. It's a great house with a fantastic view and Tom's communication with us was very responsive and informative. I highly recommend this rental! We will definitely be back!!

We loved staying at Stonehaven! The area was extremely peaceful and secluded. The home itself was cozy and provided all the amenities we needed to make it feel like home. There was also a great binder filled with information about the home and area, which was very helpful. We would definitely recommend Stonehaven for your vacation!

A very simple, comfortable house with a view to DIE for. I loved waking up so early and watching the sunrise. The views from the living room are just stunning. The owner and his neighbor also take good care of you with their notebook of things to do and occasional check ins. Felt very well taken care of.

Your own spot on the ocean, this is it. A very nice and private home right on the Atlantic Ocean. The owners have provided everything you'll need inside the house and Mother Nature has taken care of the outside. You can't help but relax here and just try and take it all in. I never got tired of standing on the rocks and watching the waves crash. I don't think you will either.
