Beautiful, well-equipped home in the perfect location. Our family enjoyed having lake access in the backyard and the ability to easily leverage the Rumbling Bald resort amenities when we wanted a change of scenery. The hosts were first-class. Would def stay again. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful getaway with my family at this lake house. We had 6 adults and 5 kids, and there was enough space and activities to keep us all busy for the week. It really is the best of both worlds being on a quieter lake, while still being able to play on Lake Lure. Sherri was a wonderful host, and made sure you had everything you needed.

We all liked the house, especially the screened in porch. Everyone had their own space and it was nice having the resort amenities. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. The kitchen was well stocked—even had a waffle iron, which we did use. The only negative might be the number of stairs to the lake for someone with mobility issues.

It was stocked with everything we needed and more.We all loved the lake and the “fun” toys provided. My three grandsons found a new love of kayaking and paddle boarding. Family fun at the lake!
We had a family vacation at this home which was great for our needs. The host Sheri was very easy to work with and took extra effort to make our stay special, including homemade cookies and a watermelon! Our grandkids loved all the lake toys, especially the water island. We enjoyed the amenities of Rumbling Bald; pool was nice although the river ride is pretty small but enjoyable for young kids. We all enjoyed the beach too. We rented a boat to go on Lake Lure. The only disappointment was eating at the Legends- pizza oven was down and the other food was marginal. We all cook meals so we did not really expect to eat out, as there are typically not many restaurants on lakes, which is the case here. The kitchen is nicely stocked, even with spices, and nice to have beach towels. We made some wonderful family memories here. My granddaughter left a special item behind and Sheri us get it back!

Excellent Family Vacation
Sheri's house is a dream home to vacation in. The amenities in the house are top-notch and the outdoor equipment is the icing on the cake. My family loves kayaking and using the floating dock or just floating on the water. Sheri greets you at the door and personally walks you through the house which is such a refreshing change. This was our second vacation here and we'll probably come back again.

Peaceful retreat in lovely contemporary home
We loved our stay at this property. Most of the properties in this area, if waterfront, are on steep lots which this one was. This makes for dramatic views and many levels of living space. Although this property is in the Lake Lure area, it is actually on Rumbling Bald Lake, a quiet, private lake just north of Lake Lure where motorized boats are not permitted. It is the PERFECT location - the amenities of Lake Lure (swimming pool, pontoon boat rental, tennis, restaurant, golf) are a just a short, easy drive. This house has a covered dock from which kayaks (provided) can be launched, or enjoy the huge water mat that can be floated out to the middle of the lake to catch the later afternoon sun. The kitchen is well-stocked - a starter supply of dishwasher soap, kitchen trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels, soap and shampoo are provided - so remember to bring extra depending on the length of you stay. The owners were very gracious and responsive, and met us when we checked in so they could explain how to use various amenities, including gas-fueled fire pit, fireplace and grill. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks Sheri and Orrin for your hospitality!

Family Fun
Lake Lure was beautiful and so was the house! We couldn’t have asked for anything else. The Hilton’s were there when we arrived and walked us through their home. They were so kind and helpful. You don’t see that very often when renting a home for the week and that was one of the reasons why I chose this beautiful property! We had everything we needed and more. The space was just perfect for 12 people.
The kids and adults loved kayaking everyday. The amenities in the resort was an added bonus.

Family Summer Vacation at the Lake!
Sheri, our stay at your property turned out to be a most relaxing and excellent experience for us! The family had fun using the kayaks on the lake and I had fun just relaxing on the dock and reading a book! Because your property was on a resort, we took full advantage of the amenities in terms of the Spa and the Lake Lure tours. Also, we were in a great location to visit places in the area like, Asheville, Hendersonville and a local winery! Sheri, we also appreciated you and your husband greeting us at your home to explain the functionality of everything. It may our stay much more comfortable! Reserve with Confidence for a Great Relaxing Holiday
My family of 4 had a fabulous time at The Retreat. Sheri greeted us at check-in and was very detailed with all instructions, she also provided a couple of bonus sweets which was appreciated. The house was well equipped for all of our needs and more. We love to cook as a family and were easily able to do so, while enjoying background music on the Sonos. You knew that It was important to Sheri for you to feel at home, be comfortable and have a great stay, which we did.
We didnt take advantage of any of the facilities of the club but did take full advantage of the lake’s natural beauty and water toys that the belong to the house. We even got to observe a family of otters at a close distance on the Kyacks.

Great property, right on the lake, awesome views and conveniently located in a resort area
Our family had a great time staying at this property. Sheri, the owner, met us on the day we arrived (even though we were running late) and showed us everything we needed to know. Property was clean, well maintained and well stocked. Located in the resort area, it has convenient access to quick dining and a short drive to several restaurants and a grocery store. We spent most of the time swimming, enjoying kayaking and fishing. We also ventured for a few excursions around the area. Highly recommended.

No motorized boats so very quiet which made it the perfect place to swim, kayak and paddleboard! And there were a ton of activities nearby including on the resort property (pool, spa, restaurants). Beautifully maintained home on a pristine lake. Sheri is the most gracious hostess and made our stay perfect. The home was extremely well provisioned, one of the best we have ever stayed in. Pictures just don’t do this beautiful home justice! From the lake to the chefs kitchen to the many spaces to slip away - we rate Sherri’s place a 10+! We will definitely be back. Things we did during our stay besides enjoy the lake and the house: ATV riding at Boone Life Adventures both 10 min away. Tubing with Lake Lure Adventures picked up by boat in resort, and white water rafting with French Broad Adventures approx 1:20 away. One week just wasn’t enough. We will be back!

Rumbling bald awesome
The property was great in the rumbling bald resort! Sherri was very receptive and answered all questions and was very organized and informative. She gave us great pointers and tips prior to arrival. We met her at hoise and she did a full walk thru and even helped us carry in bags and groceries! The house was great! Has a grill! Fire pit and fully stocked kitchen! The house was clean and had everything we needed. Paddle boards, kayaks right at the docks. The rumbling bald resort gives access to gym, pool, lazy river snd restaurants and Mini golf. We mainly hung out at the house! We met lake lure adventures at the dock snd took out pontoons from other places

Only downfall you can’t get motorized boats delivered to house but I would say this is also a blessing as it makes the lle more peaceful and quiet and calm! Perfect place for a family vacation or to unwind and relax, mornings and evenings on the lake are so peaceful! Temp if lake was just right!

Great vacation!
Our family enjoyed a very relaxing time at the lake house. The only thing we had to bring was our food and clothes. Spent most of our days at the lake/dock. The kayaks and paddle board got a lot of use. We hung some extra hammocks so we each had one to use. Enjoyed playing a round of golf and going zip lining at The Gorge. I have already shared this link with my siblings and friends...definitely will try to make it back for another vacation!

A perfect family getaway
We loved our week at Sheri’s property on quaint Bald Mountain Lake. There are few homes on this private lake, which makes it a perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. Sheri has thought about everything - the kitchen is very well stocked; there’s an extra refrigerator, freezer and ice machine on the lower level; the home boasts many nooks to read, sip a cocktail, watch a movie or simply enjoy the view. Kayaks, paddle boards, a floating mat, fishing equipment, books, movies - all available for you and your family. The geese and ducks greeted us every morning! Though we didn’t use any of the resort amenities because we were perfectly content to enjoy the lake from Sheri’s dock, there were always golfers on the course and a few people on the beach. Sheri was very proactive and fast in her communication. She gave us a tour herself and even offered the opportunity to check in very early in the day - unheard of for other rentals, in our experience. Fellow equestrians, Tryon is an easy 30 minutes away, making this a great horse showcation too! This was a fantastic rental and we hope to make it an annual trip.

Quite simply the perfect house in the perfect location with the perfect host. Thank you so much for everything Sheri, our family had an absolutely wonderful stay. Lake Lure Property
My family and I spent a glorious week as Sheri's guests at her magnificent Lake Lure property. She was gracious enough to drive 2 hours from Charlotte to meet us at her home on our arrival. After our long drive from Houston this was sincerely appreciated. The house is situated on a private lake with no motorized vessel allowed. Her boathouse on the lake was fully stocked with fishing rods, flotation devices and everything one could wish for including a stand up paddle board and two kayaks. We particularly enjoyed the elegant fire pit where we spent most nights having a glass of wine and the kids making s'mores. The house itself was beautiful and fully equipped. We had so much room that my son's family slept in the two lower level rooms with their own game room/lounge and game table. The house is on Rumbling Bald Resort property so we had free access to all the facilities. All in all I would strongly recommend this property for a relaxing/active lake vacation. Sheri is an amazing and responsive host. We will definitely be back.

Relaxing getaway
We wanted a property that would accommodate our family of seven and would have something for all ages. The property was just as we were expecting and perfect for our family's needs. It has many amenities for all age groups and we were able to take advantage of most if not all items that come with the house. The kayaks and paddle board were a big hit as was the relaxing evenings near the firepit. For the late evenings and the early mornings the house library has something for all ages and all tastes. The game collection also provides an option if the weather doesn't cooperate or the occupants just get tired. The youngest, the oldest and all those in between enjoyed the private lake for fishing, kayaking or just swimming. The resort water amenities were also very nice and very close. Our grandson particularly liked the pool with the water mushrooms. The house is tucked away in a beautiful valley but close enough to surrounding towns or grocery areas to make it easy to do other things and get groceries.
While there, we ate most of our meals at the house as was our plan. The kitchen layout and appliances are very nice and allowed us to prepare meals and enjoy the views and our family while preparing meals or cleaning up. On the few occasions that we ordered out or went out we were pleased to find the that the options available were either within what we considered a reasonable drive or in the resort area. Both places we visited for either sit down or carry out dining had good food at reasonable prices and plenty of options for a group like ours.
Sherri was very informative and was very accessible throughout the rental process and our stay. We appreciated the level of communication she provided along with the helpful information throughout the process.

Perfect Blend of Relaxation and FUN
Our weeklong stay at Sheri’s cabin gets high praise from the adults and kids alike! The lake provided all of us with endless hours of entertainment as we could convenient come and go as we pleased. We were delighted at the items at our disposable that owners typically keep locked away including fishing rods, paddle board, kayaks, life jackets, etc. We just never got tired of being out there. Additionally, it must be said that the inside is STOCKED as well. We weren’t without a single kitchen utensil, laundry detergent, beach towel or board game our entire stay. Well situated for a drive to Chimney Rock, which our families enjoyed two separate days. Don’t pass up on the boulders at Rumbling Bald or Hickory Nut Falls. Both exceeded expectations. Thank you Sheri, for the obvious thought and care you’ve put into make your guests feel at home.

Wonderful vacation! This is a beautiful home in the most perfect setting. This home is everything you need for a relaxing and fun vacation. It is beautiful with an outstanding view. The lake is quiet, perfect for swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. We could feel confident that children were safe from bigger boat traffic. The host was very communicative and helpful through out the reservation process and once we were there. We hope to rent this house again in the near future.
