The pool was wonderful! Just the right size and with a few shade trees to sit under. The biggest drawback was the sofa in the main room. So uncomfortable. Other than that, the house worked well for us, was clean and adequate. The hot tub was really nice and clean.

Grandparents,kids and grandkids all enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Walking to the beach with lots of gear was a bit hard on hot days, but had a short walk to the sound access for paddleboarding and sunset. We enjoyed our 2 week stay.

We were happy linens were supplied and the house was very well stocked with things we needed. However, the cleaning had a lot to be desired. The carpets were not swept well and not under any furniture. The middle floor bathroom had so much dirt around the baseboards and tub area. Vents were terrible, ceiling fans terrible, the bedroom doors were filthy. Lamps and mini blinds very dusty. We didn’t notice right away, cause due to the terrible weather we ran around shopping on Monday and Tuesday. We would not stay here again. We did contact housekeeping at the end of the week, hoping they will do a much better job for the next people coming in. Living room couch and chair are very much in need of replacement.

House was bright and friendly in atmosphere...some what dated kitchen but well equipped with all the dishes, pots and pans one would ever need...pool was nice but wasn't heated as we thought it would be...the hot tub was nice to soak in. The house was in a great location not far from the ocean and the crow's nest platform gives one a nearly 310 degree view of Sound and sea with great sunrises and sunsets. I would rent the house again. The internet service is fast and reliable and supported 4k streaming thru the devices we brought and plugged thru the TV as well as wifi signals were strong via our phones no matter where we were in the house...WIFI 4 protocols and link speeds to the router at about 300mbs. Internet connections varied between 10 to 80 mbs down and 4 to 20 upload with good latencies. 4k streaming capable with no lags.

The beach was within walking distance and Duck is a quaint bucolic little town. The house itself was clean and well-kept. The pool was heated and the outside BBQ came in handy. The outdoor games and area were not useable (broken, and too brushy) We picked up trash from the yard before the rest of our party arrived so as not to be embarrassed. The house sleeps 13 yet has a VERY small refrigerator. Our party of 9 found it totally inadequate. 3 of our 5 bedrooms were not made up and worse yet ; the sheets were not present so that WE could do it ! I don’t think the owners know the quality of the bath linens that their laundry service provides. I can’t imagine another reason my paper towels are thicker than the washcloths. Bath towels were small and thin. On the positive: The house was clean overall. And except for nails sticking up in many places on the deck....the pool area was lovely and exceeded our expectations.

It was good but the house could use some improvements such as new dishwasher, new comforters. The comforters have not been changed in 20 years. We had early check in but actually got the keys a bit late. After paying $200.00 additional the house should be ready when expected.

Check-in was delayed over an hour due to cleaning. When we got in, we noticed the air was not working on the top floor. After 2 days they got it working again. All in all it was a good stay and the rental company was responsive.

We loved our trip staying at the Banana Republic. The homeowners were very gracious. The house was very clean. We had only two issues (wasps near the hot tub and a tv not connecting) and the realty company, Kitty Hawk, was VERY prompt both times. They came out the same day and fixed both issues quickly. I was impressed. The house has great views from the decks, a wonderful pool (nicely warmed by roof solar heat) and great hot tub. All around few complains. It'd be great to have a second fridge for cool beverages, but its otherwise rather well equipped. We had plenty of room for us all, and loved the stay. Decent distance to the beach (only half a block) and the provided cart made it easier. It was also a decent close proximity to fun attractions in Duck (loved the Sugar Shack and Duck Donuts and of course Sunset Grille).

This is our 2nd year staying at the Banana Republic. We enjoyed it last year and enjoyed it again this year! The house is large, roomy, plenty of rooms, and the kitchen/dining/living areas are all laid out in a very functional and attractive way. The pool and hot tub are terrific and the walk to the beach is short. We would stay again. My only complaint this year is that I think the decks need to be refinished or sealed... the kids got several (7) splinters this year when in bare feet the first few days...after that shoes from pool to house/hot tub became mandatory. There was also quite a few spiders...inside and out. Other then that - a beautiful and well kept vacation home.

Although we love this property and have stayed here many times there were a few problems. An exterminator was needed and it took two days for them to show up. Also the hot tub stopped heating up and no one ever came to fix it. During a November stay the hot tub was very important. No compensation was ever offered for not having full use of the amenities. This owner should be more concerned about their renters.

Amazing house, beautiful pool and short walk to the beach

Banana Republic was a dream vacation house. We shared it with one other family but could have easily accommodated a third.
There were plenty of bathrooms, ample living space, multiple decks which included a hot tub and a large, clean pool.
We cooked meals together and there was ample seating for our party of eight in the kitchen. We often enjoyed breakfast out on the deck.
If I could point out any suggestion to the realty company, although minor, they would be to add a gas grill rather than a Forest preserve type charcoal grill, there were no kitchen towels/rags provided and no hair dryers so we had to buy two while we were there and the tub did not drain well in the shared hall bath. I emailed the realty company on the second day about the dish towels and about the cable TV not working in one of the bedrooms but I never heard back during the week we were there. It is very different working with this realty company versus working with a direct home owner because the response time is not quick by any means. My last suggestion to the realty company would be to take inventory of the kitchen as there is a lot of mismatched miscellaneous items in the cabinets.

The house is amazing, we really enjoyed our stay, very well located, the pool, the hot tub, the views, are amazing, the house is very well equipped (kitchen, towels and linens). Unfortunately, we did have an issue with the garbage, the prior tenants/cleaning crew left a huge overloaded smelly trash can at the entrance of the house, even though we spoke several times, the office did not send anybody to take care of this and we ended up picking up garbage that had spread all over the floor overnight :( The person in the office was very apologetic but they should have taken action. Probably this was a one time thing... we still liked it very much and would go back....

Pool and hot tub disgusting and not maintained
Will never rent here again. Could not use the decks due to bugs. It’s a Shane as the house is so big but so very outdated. Pool and hot tub not usable due to being dirty

Our stay at Banana Republic was very enjoyable. Very walkable to the beach and a pool for a change of pace.Many inside stairs but 5 grandkids, 4 thru 11, had no trouble navigating. 3 Master suites gave each couple privacy. The 2 bunk rooms were perfect for the kids. On the same level as the parent's rooms. Plenty of room for dining inside and outside if you choose to. It was very hot during our week so we stayed inside. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Duck rental. The location was good and the pool was great. The rental could use some pest control to reduce population of spiders and the air conditioning units needed air filters replaced
