Great location with an amazing view! Close proximity to good hiking trails. Fully stocked kitchen, had everything we could possibly need. A great place to stay for a relaxing getaway.

This cabin was an excellent base camp for visiting the area attractions. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived. It had been recently updated, so everything was in good condition. The kitchen was unusually well equipped; plenty of dishes, utensils, and appliances. It was well equipped outside too; lots of patio chairs, firewood, power outlets, good parking area, etc. Be aware that there is no AT&T cell signal at the cabin (as of summer 2021). The nearest places we found a signal were the top of Mission Mountain Rd., Stecoah Gap, and Almond. It's the last house on Pickett Trail, so it was very secluded. It was quiet too, other than the birds, crickets, and some dogs in the neighborhood. The view of the mountains from the porch was excellent. Some of the listing photos show views of neighboring houses and 'downtown' Stecoah, but those must be drone photos, we couldn't see any of that from the cabin. Be sure to check out the Nantahala Outdoors Center and the Stecoah Arts Center - it's a nice little gallery housed in a beautiful building. A visit to Bryson City (highly recommend Everett Street Diner) makes for a nice afternoon too. Jim was very responsive, he always got back to us promptly, and when a thunderstorm knocked out the satellite box, he had it replaced the same afternoon we called him.

Booked this Beautiful getaway for a week and turned out to be one of the best decisions of the year! Was kind of our honeymoon and everything was perfect! Easy to find, easy access to a beautiful, secluded, paradise in the Smokey Mountains! Stecoah valley is centrally located on Highway 28 which is a perfect pre- ride to the Tail of the Dragon. Road is awesome, and the scenery second to none. Down the road is Bryson City, another wonderful experience only a few miles up the road. Easy access to the Foothills Parkway, and even closer to Charohala Skyway, which is a cycling road second to none! I highly recommend renting this property for any occasion, and Jim is a very knowledgeable and accommodating host that makes sure you have the best time you can have while in the Smokies! And the house? Inside and out, the perfect getaway for a couple, or a place the whole family will enjoy!

Awesome cabin and great location! Everything you could want and need. Enjoyed the fire pit every night and enjoying the great outdoors. Perfect location and road wasn’t bad at all! Only downfall is no WiFi. We have ATT which is not NC friendly, apparently Verizon is. It was nice to be away from cellular devices but not so good for location and directions but everything else out weighed that! Def would love to stay there again!! And the owner Jim is awesome as well! Thank you Jim for sharing your piece of heaven with my family!

I wanna buy a place like this

It was a wonderful stay. The property is beautiful and very cozy. The owner thought about every little thing and we had everything we needed for our stay. The view through the windows and outside on the porch was gorgeous. We enjoyed different lighting and changing views of the mountains every morning and every evening. We had a great time!

Our stay at Mountain Vista was excellent. The home is kept very clean and tidy, and had everything we needed for our stay. The views over Stecoah Valley are amazing, and the star gazing in the evenings was spectacular. It is really quiet there, with the exception of the roosters crowing, a few dogs barking, and the church bells ringing below - all charming. The gravel road leading up the mountain is easy to navigate and clearly marked with signs. We visited in the spring, so weather was changing fast. We used both the indoor fireplace and outdoor firepit. It was great to have the washer/dryer after hiking in the rain a day or two. We were also happy to find puzzles, games and a few videos to keep us entertained in the rain. We had one issue with a water line stoppage, but Jim was quick to respond and provide the help we needed. Jim also provided terrific directions and tips leading up to the trip. From this location we were able to explore Fontana Dam and surrounds, Yellow Creek Falls, Bryson City, the Road to Nowhere, Deep Creek, Tsali Recreational Area, Nantahala Gorge and various other sites in the Smoky Mountain NP. We rode horses at Smokemount Stables and had a blast (first time for kids). We found the visitor center in Bryson City to be an excellent source of ideas and helpful info. (People so NICE there. too!) We all agreed that this was one of the nicest places we've stayed. The owners clearly put thought into providing what would be needed without going over the top. We appreciated that they even left extra masks, sanitizer and wipes for us during these Covid times. This was a wonderful home-away-from-home for us, and served us well as a base to explore the beauty of western North Carolina.

Owner is very responsive and attentive, great cozy cabin that has an amazing views to the mountains. Had everything we needed for our family of four, plenty of space for living room area to dining for spending a game time with family or simply enjoy a relaxing evening . Children loved their sleeping space as well as the spacious loft that allowed us all even to to have a slumber party ..The wrapped around deck is just simply amazing for outdoor time enjoyed morning coffee while admiring nature’s wonder.We had an amazing relaxing week.

We had a fantastic time at Jim's place. The views are amazing and in the morning clouds dip beneath the mountains opposite and create a wonderful morning backdrop. The fire pit was great too and many places to walk including heading down to Stecoah to check out the many interesting properties. I would definitely recommend this place.

It was exactly what we were looking for. Quiet relaxing with fantastic views very clean and cozy. Perfect for a family or anyone looking to get away. Owner was very helpful. We would definitely come back again to this property!

My husband, 7-year old daughter, and I stayed at this property the last week of October 2020, and we were excited to catch the fall colors at their peak! Location is convenient to vacation activities near Robbinsville, Bryson City, and Cherokee. We were able to enjoy nearby Fontana Lake/Dam, the Cherohala Skyway, the Tail of the Dragon, and multiple scenic hikes and outdoor adventures. The property is clean, well-organized, and fully loaded with useful amenities. The property manager/owner was helpful and provided useful advice for our stay. The view of the mountains is absolutely beautiful, and we were sure to enjoy every minute of it by eating multiple meals out on the back porch and enjoying a campfire every evening. We had splendid vacation!

The last time I stayed down in the area, we stayed in a cabin owned by a company with multiple cabins around it. You could almost reach out and touch the other cabins from your porch. This place, however, is NOT like that at all. It’s private and beautiful. The drive up to it was a little tough to navigate in the dark, but once we got it figured out, it was great. The only complaint that I have is that we don’t own it and had to go home! lol

This property is so well maintained. When I found it on the VRBO site it just felt so welcoming. It is nicely decorated, it feels homey but you don’t feel like you are staying in a place that is lived in. The inside and out are immaculately kept up. The views are beautiful! Star gazing is wonderful from the deck! It is conveniently located near so many trails and Bryson City is a great place to shop and eat and it’s only about 9 miles away. Jim is easy to reach and quickly gets things taken care of! He truly is a super host!

We loved our time here! Absolutely fantastic. The home was clean and comfortable and the host was friendly and helpful! A great “home” destination for a mountain stay. There was so much to do, we could have stayed another week!

Everything we needed was available inside the cabin which was immaculately clean. The cabin was conveniently located near several outdoor attractions including the great Smoky Mountains national Park and Fontana Lake. The fire pit was great. We roasted weenies and marshmallows. We even took a side trip to Asheville which is about an hour away. All in all a great time in a beautiful cabin with wonderful amenities and a stupendous view We highly recommend it.

The best part of Jim’s cabin was the view from the living room and bedroom upstairs. Pictures do not do this view justice. Loved sunrise and sunsets with our hot coffee! Could not have asked for a better location as it was close to the Nantahala outdoor center. ((20 mins away) We did white water rafting on the Nantahala river, kayaking on lake Fontana, tubing on deep creek ( 15 mins from NOC), zip lining on the Nantahala gorge with whitewater, (10 mins down from NOC), hiking the Appalachian ( tellico gap to wesser bald, Joyce Kilmer, yellow creek and wyah bald, we drove the tail of the dragon and the cherohala skyway. The cabin was very convenient as it had a washer and dryer with the necessities to put a load in, dishwasher, iron, was a very convenient stay. Kitchen was convenient and we made all our breakfasts here before we headed off for the day ( we brought our groceries from ingles ( 15 mins down the mountain) and had dinner in the cabin as well. We were able to connect to our hot spot with T- mobile on parts of the cabin and were able to browse and make out bookings,( since the cabin did not have internet) t- mobile came through for us here. Would love to go back ! Again to sum it all up .. great views and awesome location and comfortable amenities and beautifully decorated cozy cabin. Our Covid summer did not hamper us from having a blast with the kids ! Thanks Jim!

This cabin was awesome!! It is centrally located relatively close to all of the activities we did while on our vacation. Everything was very clean and fresh. The beds were very comfortable. This cabin had everything we needed for a great vacation. When I told the owner the can opener was broken, there was a new can opener left on the porch when we woke up the next morning. He also replied to all of my texts very quickly. We will be booking this cabin again in the future!!

This property was located in a secluded area on a gravel road in a mountainous area. The property had a beautiful view and very clean and well kept cabin.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Mountain Vista. It was easy to drive to, had a large, flat area for parking, and was clean, and comfortable. We cooked all our meals on the awesome charcoal grill, and the house was well-stocked with cookware and dishes. The cabin had many cute decorative touches, and the furniture was new and very comfortable. The outdoor living spaces took advantage of the fabulous views and offered options of shade or sun throughout the day. We hiked in the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Park, in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park (near Fontana Dam), and in the Tsali Recreation Area, along with some other local trails. We boated on Lake Santeetlah and visited the Nantahala Outdoor Center. We also shopped for local arts and crafts at the Stecoah Valley Center. Mountain Vista was centrally located for all of these activities. The owner was very friendly and helpful throughout . We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed at this cabin in the mountains of western north Carolina for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute.The view of the fall colors was stunning. Many nice places to visit including Nantahala Gorge,Bryson City, Andrews,Maggie Valley ,Fontana lake and dam, The cherahola skyway just to name a few. The cabin owner was informative and easy to work with.I would recommend this cabin to anyone staying in that area and would certainly return myself.

Great place to stay. Super clean and has everything you need for a great week. Lots of hiking nearby as well as within 1 hr. Centrally located to everything you want to adventure in the mountains. Quiet location that makes you feel like your in the middle of the mountains, yet with everything you need within reach. We have come to the mountains for years and have now found the only place we will stay until we buy some day.

I’ve been visiting this area my entire life and usually I’ve always stayed in a local motel. But this year I decided to do something different and it was the right decision. We had a great time. Cooking smoore’s around the camp fire was awesome!!! The view of the stars at night was unbelievable. I would definitely recommend staying here.
