The cabin was cozy. Super quiet. Lots of room ! However, the recreation areas listed aren't actually for the public and they are located over 2 miles away from the cabin itself anyways. We had a lot of children with us so we were looking forward to having somewhere for them to play and swim. The power also went out and we had to check out early.

No response to our problems. No second key. No reliable hot water. Non working dryer. Inaccurate lock box description, inaccurate description about the steep incline one lane parking for four cars, this house should change their description or they should not be listed.

Beautiful, affordable spot to see some snow while avoiding Tahoe-Omicron crowds. It's a short trip to Spicer Sno-Park and Bear Valley, and minutes to Calaveras Big Trees State Park, all of which we enjoyed. Better equipped for people who actually cook than most every other house we've rented (i.e. Dutch oven, sharp knives, and mercifully a non-Keurig coffeemaker AND pour over Melitta pour over cup). It's a great value, as there is a lot of sleeping room for large groups. We LOVED the firm mattress in the east-facing master; the other main adult bedroom has a slightly softer one, so there's probably a fit for everyone. Great showers (temperature and water pressure) and excellent, very powerful wood stove. We'd love to return with friends.

This property was being managed by Vacasa. Which had terrible customer care. From the get go Dryer was broken, which if you go to the snow your clothing is going to get wet. I placed several calls to Vacasa to see if they can take care of the issue. The local Vacasa management team made poor excuses then flat out ignored my calls. The weekend of our stay had record snow fall levels. Cabin had no shovels or any tools to help clear out snow from entry way. I had to go down to Arnold to purchase a shovel at $60. That was after I had to call AAA to help pull out my 4x4 Jeep from the steep driveway. Later in our stay several trees fell and road to Camp Connell which shut us out of the cabin we had to stay in Arnold for 2 days. There was no internet service and on and off power for 2 days. I called Vacasa to try to get help retriving sme of our property from the cabin. I was then threatened by the Vacasa rep that if we did not remove our belongins we would be charged a lost and found fee on top of the cost to ship out our things back home. Luckily the road opened for one day and we were able to get our stuff. we ended up leaving 2 days early. Warning do not book any properties managed by Vacasa, They are just there to take your money. Property is not well maintained, equipment is old and not working. And worse of all if you are left in a dangerous situation they leave you to fend for yourselves and will take additional money if given the opportunity to do so. Also cabin floors are old and very loud, Hot water runs out quickly, Dryer does not work, No shovels or tools to remove snow. Very bad and rude customer care.

Good location but small home and small kitchen. Parking was an issue.

Very nice family vacation.

The Cabin was well appointed. Full stove, large fridge and a roomy dishwasher. The living room was big enough for a 5 year old to scatter stuff and not be cluttered. The beds were comfortable. Everything was very clean upon arrival. There was a big deck, but nothing to sit on. A gas grill and 3 small resin tables, that was it. That is why we did not give 5 stars.

Do NOT stay here based off the pictures and the listing!
1. It stated in the TITLE and pictures that there is a community pool. It is unavailable until Memorial weekend. When the pool finally does open it to owners only. I understand COVID restrictions but it is only if you leave the VRBO site to find mention that things are changed. We booked based on the pool alone. It should be theft to picture and list something in amenities that is unavailable. Come on, COVID has been a thing for over a year!!! Update and be good honest humans! These times are difficult and when we could finally afford a vacation it was nothing like promised!
2. There were signs of a rodent problem. Which was confirmed by the arrival of a pest control guy.
3. There was absolutely no furniture to enjoy the deck and the grill isn’t fully functional.
4. We attempted several times to communicate and we were sent very brief communication through email. None of them offering apologies or a refund of any kind.
5. The beds are extremely uncomfortable. The charge for pets seems reasonable until the tack on the “and fees” part.
6. Why didn’t we leave?? Because for as much research as I did, I could not find another unit to hold all of us and we had spent all of our vacation funds on this rip off!!
I could go on and on. We are not new VRBO and have never experienced such poor customer service! We NEVER complain but this is unacceptable!

The home was a decent getaway for me, I appreciated the time away. I arrived at 9p and it took forever to find the home. The area was pitch black at night. There is a small round flat landing in front of the house at the top of the driveway just off the street. It was so black and hard to see when I got there I almost drove off the landing and over the small cliff on the other side because I could see nothing. There was no sign or anything indicating a need to stop. The driveway itself is so steep I couldn’t tell if I was meant to drive down so I stayed at the top of the landing. There is a motion light but it only stays on a short time before needing to be triggered again.
The patio is extremely dirty, the furniture is also dirty and broken down, and nothing like the photos. The patio was a big selling point when I made the reservation so that was disappointing. The comforter in the bed I slept in was also quite visibily dirty and I wondered if it had been changed in between visitors. That was unsettling considering we’re in COVID times. Some of the pots could also stand to be updated. I would also strongly suggest better/more outdoor lighting. I had to take my dogs out multiple times during the night and it was very dark outside. The house phone also rang multiple times with spam calls so I turned the ringer off.
Pros: quiet area, lots of space, well supplied clean kitchen, clean appliances, well-working washer and dryer
Cons: driveway too steep, driveway needs signage, large stain on the carpet, patio very dirty/patio furniture broken down, comforter was not clean, pots very old/some peeling, futon cover looked dirty as well and not inviting.
Overall I think this would be fine for a large family who is not fussy and just needs a decent home to stay in. For someone who wants a home with great attention to detail and extreme cleanliness this may not be the place for you.

Sweet spot in the mountains
Nice, cozy cabin in a cute neighborhood, just 30 minutes from Bear Valley and only 10 minutes from Big Trees State Park. We enjoyed our time here very much!

Perfect for a Mini Vacation
Stayed among the trees for a quick getaway. The cabin was beautiful, especially in the morning with the sunshine streaming in through the trees. Very peaceful and quiet.

Cleaning was something to be desired
Overall the place is pretty amazing. The location was great and it really did come with everything you could need for a home away from home. Although I do agree that the driveway was not my favorite and I wouldn’t want to use it during the winter months with snow on the ground. When we arrived the first thing we did notice is the fact that whoever last stayed or cleaned left trash in the kitchen. This bag of trash was also leaking out onto the kitchen floor. The sheets were stained in the kids room and the second queens room. The first queen room had trash under the bed and I’m more then sure the sheets were not washed due to the fact that someone’s long hair was on the pillow covers. Overall it looked the rest of the sheets still had dog hair on them. They also left someone’s used retainer on the bedside table. The coach still had what looked like crumbs on it. For having to pay extra for cleaning I would love to know what was cleaned.

Excellent, except for a detail
Our family loved the stay, we had a great time. It is close to many fun places like Calaveras Big Trees. Everything inside was great, fun board games, interesting books, great wifi, etc. etc. However, the interior and the balcony was notibly unclean. The entrance suggests to take off shoes, however the floors stained socks with a lot of dirt. There were a few spider webs by the television. Some cushions had what seemed like white dog hair. These details are in fact important, yet they were not a sufficient reason to impede our great time!

Weekend Getaway
We did have to leave a day early due to a power outage, but this does not factor into my review.
Pros:
Quiet area.
Kitchen well stocked.
Roomy
Ceiling fans in bedrooms.
Cons:
Floors in desperate need of repair, everything squeaks while walking.
No air conditioner, was a bit stuffy when 82 degrees outside.
Deck furniture unusable due to being covered in tree sap.
Upstairs beds are as hard as a rock, if you enjoy hard beds, you will be in heaven.

Nice cabin
We almost didn’t go because of the poor air quality due to the fires. Glad we did. We stayed in most of the time to avoid the smoke. On the morning that we left, our 5 year old says that he’ll miss this cabin.

Meet all expectations
Glad to have gone. All items worked with the exception of cell service, but WiFi good, TV, dishwasher. Kitchen stocked with pots and pans etc. Plenty of towels, washcloths. A true description of small amount of shampoo/conditioner. The place could have been cleaner both inside and out; garbage outside and could not find the key to the garbage. Bit of hair in bathrooms and debris on floors but otherwise clean. Would rent again.

Amazing place - some management issues
We loved the property and would stay again. The house was perfectly described and so nice. The only hiccup was when we arrived to check in the house wasn't clean. I didn't feel the recovery of the situation was above and beyond to make me loyal to vacasa. It was average ie ownus was on me to send pictures that it wasn't clean and I had to spend time proving it. On a good note the guy they sent was phenomenal and he cleaned around us while we were there. I did get a cleaning credit but I do feel like a bit more should have been done given severity of the miss.

Mountain home in Camp Campbell
Home itself was great and fit our family well. Just some communication issues and property not being as ready as we expected, i.e. no water turned on, dust covering patio, chairs and furniture that we had to clean!

Cozy cabin in the woods
This was our 2nd stay at the Sherwood Bear Cabin and we would definitely stay there again. It's very comfortable and cozy with the wood stove in the main room. The driveway is really steep and it was snowing a lot, but we only had 2 cars and were able to park at the top (the top of the driveway was cleared). The kitchen is well appointed and we were able to eat all of our meals there and even bake a cake. The view is lovely with all the trees. We were very happy they had 3 snow shovels which came in handy this time around.

Sherwood Bear Cabin
We loved this cabin ! great location and when it snowed it was really fun to play in the woods with my kids and our dog. A great layout of the house and just very snug and cozy. We would definitely rent here again. Our only complaint was there was no axe to cut wood for the fireplace that we could find, but other than that it was all perfectly fine. Really great house for families with kids!
