Flamingo Fancy was a comfortable place to stay. It was well laid out & the pool was big! Carolina Shores was very responsive to our questions.

Great location and neighborhood. Pictures are not recent. Some amenities not at listed. Cleanliness was an issue but property manager did send someone over to do floors for us which was much appreciated. Kitchen accessories are lacking and disorganized. Had a lovely stay regardless.

The house is really nice. Quiet area. Really liked it here and one of the pluses was a pool and play set in the yard. Pool was nice. But the play area in the yard has some rusted out areas and we had to clean out the sandbox from weeds, trash. Could use some work. But overall, we really liked it and would come back.

This house was plenty spacious for our large group(6 adults and two teenagers) . Each queen bedroom has it own bathroom and the two bunk bed rooms share a bathroom, and there was one additional bathroom as well. Having our own pool and hot tub was a huge plus, didn’t have to worry about pool hours and such, we could swim whenever we wanted. There were plenty of places to spread out with a sun porch and a deck/ balcony off of every bedroom. The drive to the beach wasn’t too bad, about 10 min drive, and we were given passes for the Beach access parking. Four of my adult children enjoyed the included tennis courts that were included as well. Although I don’t have small children, as a parent who one did, I thought it was great that there were many baby gates and a pack and play which would be great for those with small children. Also plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. There were a few maintenance and cleaning things that could have been better, but definitely not a deal breaker. The ice maker didn’t work so we just bought bags of ice. There were some lightbulbs burnt out but none that made too much of a difference. Yard upkeep could be a little better, but didn’t really affect us, the cleaning crew also missed a few things there was hair and sand in one of the bathtubs that we just cleaned out and my son found some trash under one of the beds that he just vacuumed up.. Some of the patio furniture is probably due to be replaced, but all still usable and fine, there was all new furniture on the upstairs deck off the kitchen, so they must be working on it. They must have a regular exterminator because for being down south and the only bugs we saw was one spider is remarkable. There was also a pool guy that showed up midweek to freshen up the pool. All in all, we loved it, as well as our adult children who can be quite the critics, lol, and we would definitely stay in this house again. The agency was also very helpful when we did

This could be an amazing property, but lack of maintenance and upkeep ruined this place. Grass/weed was knee high in the yard until they cut it the day before we left. Shed in yard stunk to high heaven with roof ready to collapse. No landscaping has been done in years. Furniture at canal dock was beyond being able to sit on. Inside furniture is dated and sticky. Hot tub and pool were nice, but lack of tree trimming causes debris to fall in pool and I spent too much time skimming leaves and pine needles with old skimmer. Roaches live in the screened porch and one was inside one of the bedrooms. Never found soccer field or basketball court they listed and I searched. Would not stay here again unless they updated and started maintaining the property regularly. A more thorough map should be given at check-in if the amenities the list exist.

Beautiful home
It had everything my grandkids loved. A playground and a pool and very close to the beach. They had baby gates because there's a lot of stairs in the home and I love that because we had a 1-year-old with us and a four year old.The only thing I did not like was the mosquitoes are very bad so make sure you keep the screen door shut or they'll be in the house with you at night .

We were totally disappointed. Each summer our family takes a trip to a different North Carolina beach and we rent a house. This was the worst house we ever rented. When we arrived the linen from the previous guests was still at the property and ours had not arrived. The Sauna was filthy and it did not seem like house had been cleaned well. We had to have the cleaning company return to the house. Carolina Shores was quick to respond to all of our concerns. They seem like a great company. They should remove this property from their catalog until this owner invests in this property. The house is outdated, dirty, and filled with broken things. Whoever owns this house really needs to update it, invest in pest control, clean the spiderwebs, and update the furniture.

This is our third year staying in Flamingo Fancy and we’ve been pleased each year. Plenty of room for the 9 in our group (3 kids) and we never feel like we’re crowding each other. Pool and hot tub are great and we will very likely stay again next year. Wish it was pet friendly but that’s the only real negative.

Long story short we arrived and the place was just dirty. I’m not talking nature usual a bug here and there. I’m saying black feet from walking around inside the house. The rusty table on the patio was falling apart. The decks all need painted and the nails fixed that stick out. The screened in patio was covered in cobwebs dirty cushions etc... The ice machine wasn’t working so I contacted the office. 2 days later I was told to pull machine apart and let it thaw out and refresh. ( it wasn’t that simple and didn’t want to break it so we just bought ice) Another note on contacting the office I expressed my concern about broken items ( toilet paper holder steps on kids playhouse mold in the shower curtain! ) They didn’t even acknowledge I mentioned the cleanliness of the house. When cooking dinner we had to dig through pots and pans due to rusted pans. We went to use the grill and the propane tank was so rusted it was unusable and couldn’t be turned on. We never even used the outdoor shower because it was so dirty and filled with bugs. I know nature happens but this couldn’t have been cleaned in a month if not more. Just gross. The neighborhood was very quiet and residential. We were the only rental on the street and that’s fine but honestly we were afraid to even play music by the pool it was so quiet. The internet never worked either. I e never written a bad review in years of vacationing in OBX but this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.

Flamingo Fancy - Sept 2020
Location, neighborhood and layout/amenities were great. The condition of the home leaves a bit to be desired. Exterior is unkempt (unusable, ratty patio furniture with a few exceptions; outdoor decor items rusted or broken; section of paint peeled bad screen on exterior door upstairs). Interior was cleaned by company so fridge and bathrooms were clean but the kitchen equipment (griddles, colanders...) were dirty and extremely disorganized. A few pots/pans were unusable because of rust but it didn't matter because there were multiples of everything but you had to open every cabinet to find something because there was no orgnization. No place to store food except for the counter. Closets all had crap just stuffed in them making some of them unusable. Doesn't allow dogs but it is clear that dogs have been locked in a couple of rooms and tried to claw their way out - superficial damage only. Bath mats and the few throw rugs are worn out or seem very dirty. TV in family room is WAY too small for a room that size - so don't plan on gathering around to watch a movie on a rainy day. The family room furniture is all wicker and the cushions are VERY old looking and don't have enough cushioning left to make them comfortable on this furniture. This home just needs some attention and needs to be refreshed to be great. Really enjoyed the pool and hot tub.

They need to hire a new cleaning company and update all furniture! Indoor and outdoor! All outdoor furniture was broken and indoor was old and uncomfortable. Besides that, great location and plenty of space! And yes, they need a grill that works too

When we got there the house after paying for an early check in, the was dirty and had no been cleaned well, if at all. Mattress pads were gross, toothpaste in the bathroom sinks, and food left in the kitchen sink and the grass had no been cut. I called and reported the issue and they sent out someone from housekeeping who was awesome. We did stay up until midnight washing mattress pads and comforters. Aside from the rough start, the house was spacious. We enjoyed the 3 masters and the pool. The kids enjoyed the canal and fishing out back. This was our second stay here. The first time was great except for the grass not being cut, but after the rocky start it went great. They did get someone out relatively fast to resolve the issues. I was told the owner had been there and she didn't clean very well before she left. The home was in a good location but it could be hard to turn left onto the main road. The beds were very loud and squeaky. There were nightlights but none of them works, so if you have children bring your own. Kitchen was stocked well with pots and pans and kitchen utensils, however most were dirty so we had to wash them all before we could use anything. Overall, it was a great trip and we would consider staying here again.

House was not cleaned. Furniture was broke causing injury. Electrical issue with the light switch at the pool causing shock. Bees nest outside bedroom with bunk beds. The property location, pool, house layout, and hot tub were great. Just believe needs a little more attention and upgrading. Would not recommend until minor improvements are made.

The house was fine overall. The top level Air Conditioning was fine, the next level down did not work and never was fixed during our stay. The wifi never worked for my phone and tablet. Pool and hot tub were great. My 4 year old grandson called it "the beautiful house". Overall the stay was OK.

Driving through the neighborhood every house is well maintained and very nice...then you get to Flamingo Fancy. It screams, Im a rental property. The outside is dingy, dirty, and very weathered. Upon arriving at the front door, we were met with nails sticking out of the front steps along with an array of cobwebs and spiders to greet us. Upon entering, there is an eclectic array of knick knacks and unmatched decor. One of the worst parts of our stay were the three queen beds that creaked very loudly with every single movement-definitely not good when you cant even get into your bed without worrying about waking the children! The kitchen was one of the highlights of the home. It had updated appliances and nice quarts counter tops. That though was the highlight. Past that there was mismatched odds & ends for flatware and untensils and some of the most random appliances youll ever seen (or even knew existed). The ceiling fans were covered in a good thick layer of grey dust and there were more cobwebs than we could count around the house. The best part were the 1.5 waterbugs that periodically greeted us. We were told that these are quite common in NC, but after staying in OBX multiples times in the last 20 years, I have yet to encounter these waterbugs. Where I come from, these are known as roaches! I think one of the few places we felt that were actually clean was the pool & hot tub. They were sparkling clean and the pool guy was there twice during our stay to ensure it was clean. The downside of being out there was that there was a disgusting stench of what I would relate to dog poop, that would waft through every so often. We never did locate any poop and all we could guess is that there was a septic system from the house that possibly needed attention. All in all, it was a roof over our head, but we would never stay in this property again.

First, the good: Pool was clean and fun to use, Many nicely located bedrooms, home is quite spacious; Now the bad: Ants appeared often throughout the house, beds were uncomfortable and very noisy (squeaky), headboards were unattached to the bed and rattled around a lot, way too many duplicated kitchen utensils making locating them and easily getting them out of the cabinets a problem, and missing other needed untesils, dirty and worn outside decking, signage around pool almost illegible, fencing around pool needed maintenance, one cable box not working at all, one cable box had no cable attached or even available, there was absolutely no instruction of any kind as to how to use the complicated cable/television/remote control(s) equipment, refrigerator needed a replacement filter, refrigerator ice maker not working and had to have a repairman come in to fix it,deck furniture old and some broken, lower siding around and on doors was either moldy or in bas condition, overall exterior of house needed considerable maintenance and painting. With proper maintenance, updating and correction of various problems, this house could be an excellent rental and much more desirable.

Home could use some updating (fresh paint), less knick knacks because the cleaning crew didnt dust or clean that well. We did the linen service and the previous tenants linens were there all week. There were some rusty old pots and pans that needed to be tossed. Grass hadnt been cut the week before and wasnt cut until the end of our stay- grass was like 12 tall and lots of ticks. Quiet neighborhood, friendly neighbors. Nice appliances. Would stay again!

Huge home with lots of space. Home could use some updating (fresh paint), less knick knacks because the cleaning crew didn't dust or clean that well. We did the linen service and the previous tenants linens were there all week. There were some rusty old pots and pans that needed to be tossed. Despite the tropical storm Hermine, we had a great weekend visiting with family and friends! The house was just as described, just wish we could have enjoyed the decks and pool and yard a little more.
The staff were really helpful with the rental process and even sent someone out to clean up the pool and hot tub the last day. Would recommend this house to anyone looking for something a little different then staying right on the beach. It's located in a neighborhood right after the bridge and the street is perfect for walks or biking.

It was very nice. The house met our needs very well. It had plenty of sitting room for all 10 that stayed. Liked the layout of the house with the master bed off of the kitchen. Maybe one less room with twin beds and an additional room with a queen bed. The decks were very enjoyable to set on and watch the sun rise and set, as well as able to keep an eye on the kids in the pool. We loved the pool. Also the closeness to the businesses and restaurants was nice as well as being just a few minutes from the beach. We are looking forward to spending another week here next year.

The Good - The area is amazing, local shopping centers are just down the road, the canal in the back of the house has catfish in it and are easy to catch. The house is set up nice, and the layout of the house itself is good for multiple families.
The Bad - The house is a bit in disrepair, all the decking has popped nails so watch your feet! The dryer was not working and even though I notified Carolina Shores Rentals right away, it was never fixed. The toilets were all clogged and there was a sewage smell, a repairman was sent out and that was fixed right away. Don't expect a good nights sleep on the bed in the house, very uncomfortable and loud! There is also no access to the second or first floor from the third which is a very odd design of the house. The neighbors obviously do not like rental guests, one of the local residents walks his dogs in the middle of the one lane road and yells at people for driving down the road, also had some of the local kids let the air out of our car tire and kept ringing the door bell. The beach is a drive!

It was a really great experience we seen the ocean for the first time. We were right in the middle of everything in town but on a quiet secluded Road. Very convenient and clean. The pool and hot tub were our very favorite. The kids were in them morning noon and night. Only downside was the dryer didn't work at the time but the cleaning company were nice and dried our clothes when we needed them to. It was amazing and I would go every year if I could afford it again!

Our family enjoyed everything about this property during our August vacation, except for the 'squeaky' beds, especially in the MBR in the upper floor. This is a great property; bright, cheerful, clean & close to restaurants and shopping. The neighborhood is shaded and quiet and we enjoyed boating on the canal. My fav was the large, private pool (very clean) which provided hours of fun and relaxation. The deck furniture could be updated, but this did not make much difference to our family. We enjoyed a fun-filled and relaxing vacation at Flamingo Fancy and Carolina Shores was a pleasure to work with.
