Old but stylish spacious clean and great ambiance

Location was attractive and convenient, clean rooms, spacious and friendly staff. Bird life was abundant. Comfortable beds and quiet rooms

No air conditioning. It was extremely hot and stuffy as it was summer time and no air conditioning which made for a very unpleasant nights sleep. There was no windows to open either.

Everything the staff where excellent, really lovely people. The location is second to none. I am looking forward to going back.

No air-conditioning in rooms, it was so hot and uncomfortable for our stay. No bed side table lamps, very dated furniture throughout the hotel. Decided to do gardens at the high tourist season, all the sand and dust from the gardens around the pool was blown into the pool. So it was closed and we were unable to use it, we choose the location for this very reason. The mattress's need replacing terribly. And there is no phone to contact reception in the rooms.

Rooms and particularly the bathroom a bit tired.

There now PowerPoints available to charge my phone nor my friends. Every power point was behind the bed and/or a huge cupboard which l could not move. The lighting in the room was poor.

Lovely location on the water with water views from our room (not all rooms have water views I believe). Staff were welcoming and dinner was great, again looking out over the water.

The location was excellent. Our rooms were on the lagoon side of the building. We had views of the whole bay and the bird sanctuary was right in front of us. It was lovely to sit outside on the deck in the bar and restaurant area to enjoy pre-dinner drinks. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

There is a lot to like about this hotel but it is a little dated, somewhat old fashioned.

Nice view and comfy beds. A great location and rooms are what you expect - clean, basic rooms but nothing with any extra charm. Although the staff (in the restaurant in particular) were so friendly and happy to have a chat - so that really helps.

Some rooms with a 'view' had some bulky trees partially blocking the view but nothing major. Just something to keep in mind. Not a reason to remove trees completely though but not exactly a room with a 'view'.

Lovely spot overlooking the water. Very good restaurant, and friendly staff.

Although the property was 20 years old the rooms were presented very well, clean and large in size

The floors in the corridors were very noisy. Squeaky floorboards under the carpet. The cost of using the washing machine and dryer was $6 each and we thought that was quite steep

Very tired and dated

We loved the room we stayed in, it was very clean. Upgrading to the water view room was a fantastic choice. As soon as we opened the door, we could see a black swan in the water from our balcony. The hotel lobby feels like a 5-star establishment, with plenty of lounges to sit and read, and the restaurant serves delicious food. The fireplace in the restaurant made it very cozy, and the outside deck is lovely too. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. We also noticed that the hotel provides free spring water for guests to fill the water bottle

The only comment is that perhaps the position of the power points needs to be reviewed. We had to leave the kettle on the floor when boiling water, as it couldn't reach the powerpoint when left on the table.

The rooms were very dated, musty smell, could hear people talking and TV's on both sides of the room. Matress on bed was soft and old. Floorboards were squeky in the hall outside room, you could hear any movement. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was filthy, dust hanging down a about 10cm. When driving into the property a sign saying 'Park at your own Risk', Wifi terrible was told "its a St Helens thing". Not true we had great WiFi everywhere else in St Helens. I had looked at review before booking and it had 7,8's. These were not a true reflection. Tried to get a refund, reception not interested and no reply to the email Bookings.com sent to the property on our behalf.

Very clean and tidy rooms. We could see that the hotel had been run down but there has been a change of new owners which is positive with many upgrades happening with the rooms, landscaping and updating the facade to modernise the hotel. Staff were helpful.
