I liked the location and the house.The one thing that annoyed me was the sun glaring through the windows in the morning when we were eating our breakfast. They really need shades or binds on the windows by the table. Also sun glaring in the window over the kitchen sink. Previous residents did not put trash and recycle out for collection thursday night so cans were full upon our arrival Saturday and recycle bin would not be picked up again until the following Friday. Pool area and car port need to cleaned of debris from trees. Pool was nice and warm from the sun and hot top was nice. It is a nuisance to have to return keys to rental office the morning you are leaving to go home. Traffic is horrible on Saturday. There are alot fewer restaurants on the north end of outer banks compared to the nags head area if this is a concern. Lastly, the house was not cleaned and ready for us until close to 5:00pm instead of the promised check in time of 4:00pm. Which was a real inconvenience since we arrived early in the day.

The house was not cleaned prior to our stay. There were still coffee grounds in the coffee maker, hair in the bed, toothpaste in the sink, and splashes on the mirror, floors had not been swept, or vacuumed. This was my first and last experience with VRBO and Southern Shores.

The top floor was very safe for the toddler once we put up a baby gate across the stairs. The pool and the hot tub was clean and beautiful. The beds were soft. The location was just a couple of miles away from the Walmart and Harris Teeter.

This was a family group, 5 teenagers and 4 adults. We had plenty of space to spread out, and to eat our meals. The kitchen was adequately stocked with everything we needed. The pool and hot tub were clean and functioning, perfect for the day we had a heat advisory and didn't want to schlep everything to the beach. Please know this property is in walking distance to the beach, but not at all practical with all the beach gear. We take a large canopy, cooler, chairs, boogie boards and towels, etc and it is just too far to walk with all of that. You must also cross a busy two-lane road to get to the beach (there is a crosswalk). We chose to run our own shuttle service over in a couple of trips to the beach with all the gear, with the driver coming over on a bike after delivering everyone (there is no parking). Worked for us.
The kitchen had not been swept upon our arrival (according to the rental agreement, this is the responsibility of the previous renter), and there was tons of dog hair (supposed to be a pet-free unit). The outdoor shower was not operational during our stay, but it wasn't really a problem for us. There were also a few light bulbs that needed replaced. Otherwise, the unit was as listed. We enjoyed the use of the gas grill several nights. All the deck space was enjoyable. You will need to get in the car to drive for anything you might need or want. There really isn't anything in walking distance and traffic can be a bear, FYI.

First off house was never cleaned. The gas grill was trash and other smaller issues when we arrived. We brought it all to the attention of the property manager and they quickly took care of most everything. All in all a good trip. Pool is great!

Enjoyed the home with pool and hot tub. Decent area around for kids to enjoy. Only about 10-15min walk with the kids to beach. Location was nice for either heading up toward Duck or Corolla or down to Kitty Hawk.

Great place to stay, and enjoyed the amenities. Some areas for improvement include the need for a DVD player on the main TV, replacement of some of the steps on the deck that are rotting, and generally some TLC around the house is needed including new light bulbs, fixtures that are outdated (sinks missing drain plugs), and it needs a good deep cleening. For those visting next, the fact that linens (sheets, towels, etc) are not included in the rental fee was a surprise we missed until after the contract was signed. We have rented from many places over the years, and never have we run into a situation where linens were not included, so we found that to be a hassle, and the cost to rent them was higher than just buying our own from the store new.

Three families totaling 10 people stayed and it was comfortable with plenty of room for everyone. Beach access was convenient just a short walk. Another beach access was less than a mile with parking. A quiet neighborhood even though it was a 1/4 mile from Route 12. Pool was refreshing and clean. Plenty of activities to do within a short drive. Very satisfying vacation.

We loved our vacation home. Everything about it was wonderful. Fabulous pool, hot tub. Nice cold airconditioning. Please update the pictures online because there is updates such as furniture and granite counters as well as stainless steel appliances. There are no beach or sound views but not a big deal. Less than a 2 minute drive to the private parking for the beach! This home could easily accommodate 2 families. I highly recommend. It is also in a quiet residential area.

Our stay was very relaxing although it started a little rocky. After a very long car ride we were greeted with an icy and unprofessional reception. It was not a good one. We arrived after two long travel days to find that the owners were occupying the home for two weeks- starting the week we arrived. CSVR had to find us a new house which took a few hours and ended up being in Corolla- more north than we wanted. I'm glad it all worked out, but after traveling for as long as we did to arrive to an occupied home was certainly maddening. My reviews are based on the fact that we did not stay at this home so I cannot rate it but needed to enter something to submit the review.

Overall we had a wonderful time with our family and friends - great weather, beaches, towns, etc.
The biggest disappointment was we were lead to believe that the house was on the beach side and it was a quick walk. I had asked if we had to cross a road or highway and we were told no - but come to find out we had to cross over Duck road which is extremely busy. Also we were told it was a quick 5 min walk - but it was about 1/4 mile and about a 12 min walk. We also received a parking ticket because we didn't park in the right spot - but there wasn't anyone else at that spot - so a bit irritating. House was in good condition but had a few items that needed repair - I provided this information on my checkout report

Should not advertise ocean view, difficult to see. West windows need washing, front door is difficult to open, need more wash cloths & towels,(towels need to be larger), sheets need to be larger to accomodate thicker mattress,and left closet door in mid-level bedroom needs lubrication so it will be easier to open. Our family had a great time creating memories, and definitely would stay at HomeAway From Home again. The two girls that handled my reservation were professional, personable, and made an exceptional effort to meet my needs. Poplar Bluff is located in Missouri, not Maine.
