Great
Nothing special but everything you need.
We stayed there from 15th till 26 of September.
During this period there are almost no tourists so we had the beach without anyone )))
It's a great location at first line of the seaside. Nice garden, pretty big terrace with sun loungers, clean rooms, all necessary stuff.
As a negative: not so far there is a restaurant with karaoke so we had couple noisy evenings cause of there is a silence around and we were forced to listen some crazy songs.
We were all very pleased with our stay in this place.
Special thanks to Sabrina for her support.

Traumhafter Urlaub in Top Lage
Wir kommen also wieder.

Vacanze tranquille

Wonderful house in a great location close to the beach
We (family of two kids, two parents and one grandmother) stayed in the apartment of the bigger villa for two weeks and enjoyed our stay a lot! The location directly across the sea, the wonderful garden inviting (esp. the kids) to explore, and the very good apartment itself made our stay very pleasant. In case of questions, we could always approach both Sabrina (who handled the admin topics) as well as Maria (owner) who were both kind and helpful. The apartment is equipped with everything one needs and the big terrace with great sea views made every meal we took outside a special one. The town of Marina di Davoli is close by (5 min by car) and offers a few supermarkets, bakery shops, and everything else for daily needs. Overall, we can only recommend Villa Marina, esp. for travellers seeking a beautiful and quiet place close to the beach. We will very likely come back!

Was will man mehr?

We stayed at Villa Marina for a week in the beginning of September and loved every minute of it. Maria is the sweetest host you could wish for and her garden is a true paradise, I still can't believe how beautiful and huge it is. And the silence! I was and still am in awe. It was so relaxing and just exquisite to have breakfast on the huge veranda, overlooking palm trees, exotic flowers and the sea. Paradise, really.
Besides the villa and garden, it doesn't get any better than packing your stuff and bring it to the beach right across the street. You step outside the garden, take three steps and there you are! For people like us who prefer to have a calm vacation without lots of people and noise around, Villa Marina and the beach in front of it are the perfect choice. Besides a small family from Switzerland and us, there were no other tourists at the beach, only locals who seemed to come to the beach during siesta and after work to relax a bit. We had lots of space and almost the whole beach to ourselves, which was a dream! Also, it's the most fantastic water you can wish for – so clear you could see the ocean bed at all times!
There are four beach bars and, I think, two restaurants and a bistro in walking distance from the villa. For groceries, there is a main street about 5 minutes by car where you can get everything you need. But don't miss the chance to make pasta with the delicious vegetables from the garden itself!
There only was one unpleasant issue with our stay at Villa Marina and that was the noise during the night. It was very silent and calm during the day, which we absolutely loved, but at night, the closest beach bar hosts karaoke nights which you hear very loudly across the beach and street and it was annoying when spending the warm summer evenings on the veranda. Also, the dogs in the neighbourhood bark constantly during the night, they really wouldn't stop for an hour. BUT: If you are inside the house and keep the windows closed, you hear almost nothing. The windows are very well isolated.
CONCLUSION:
The Villa Marina is paradise on earth and the perfect accommodation for a calm beach vacation. We absolutely loved it and most definitely recommend it! And I'm pretty sure we'll be back soon.
Thank you, Maria!

We had such a wonderful stay in Villa Grande. The Savinis were excellent hosts and made us feel so welcome. The villa has everything you need and features an amazing terrace which is great for eating out and enjoying lazy days. The surrounding orchard and pine wooded area provides shade and great fresh figs and lemons. Having such a beautiful beach right on our doorstep made for a relaxing and memorable holiday. Particular highlights were our many visits to Paolas for gelato and jumping off Pietragrande. Can't wait to return!

Great appartment in a beautiful surounding, right on the beach of the Ionian sea!
First of all the landlord Maria Savini was first class in all her communications with us, both during the booking process as well as on our arrival and our stay.
The property is situated in San Sostene Marina with only the marina road passing in front of the house. So 50 meters to the beautiful Ionian sea, where you have the breathtaking sun rising in the morning and crystal clear water to swim in.
We stayed seven persons for one week, and had ample room in the "Grande" apartment.
There is all that you need, gas stove and oven, dishwasher, TV set, WiFi, and washing machine. There are a A/C that cools all three sleeping quarters and the living room as long as you keep the doors open between the rooms. There are two bathrooms with showers and toilets, so even seven persons did not need to que for the bathrooms ;-)
Maria Savini an extremely friendly owner and welcomed us with water in the fridge and fresh fruit, and was very forthcoming in letting us get fresh lemons, chilis, basilikum, fresh salad, tomatos and fruit from the garden during our stay.
There are not many tourists in San Sostene Marina, and the beach is nice and quite making for relaxation being in focus.
We made a few sight seeing tours, and there are plenty of posibilities in the Calabrian region. Great restaurants, winemakers, old churches and beautiful mountain towns.
Our family can warmly recommend Calabria and San Sostene Marina, but most of all we can recommend the extremly friendly Maria Savini and her great villa on the seafront!
Best regards
Pål Hanson and family.

Wonderful villa in a quiet area, situated right at a great, clean, 40m wide sandy beach with crystal clear waters on front. Surrounded by a spacious garden which during our stay (May 2018) was ripe with citrus fruits and delicious sweet oranges.
It has a great balcony at the front of the house, shielded by both the house and the lush treefront of the sometimes strong winds coming from the inland. The little play-garden for the kids was a hit while we lounged away and enjoyed the view of the garden, the trees and the wide sea in front.
That said, when we were not at the beach. During those visits what struck us most was the lack of other visitors to the beach. This might be due to the pre-season, but with 23-25C, 40m white sandy beach and crystal clear waters you wouldn't expect to see NO ONE at the beach other than your own family for as far as the eye could see. Absolutely awesome though, biggest private beach we've ever had, and great for some running at start or end of day.
The inside of the house is nothing special though everything is functional. We had the top-level of the house only, 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms (one only accessible through the master bedroom) and a small kitchen/seating area in between. But this is Italy, so why stay inside.
Great house, friendly owners and a seperate english-speaking caretaker which was always reachable for anything. Would definitely look for it again when visiting Calabria again.

We (two adults and three children) very much enjoyed our stay at Villa Marina Grande.
From the big terrace you have a wonderful view of the sea. Surrounded by a tremendous garden you feel yourself there like in the paradise.
The apartment itself is big as well and has everything you need.
It is wonderful to be just a few steps away from the beach. So you can go there whenever you want, spent some time there with swimming and return for relaxing on the terrace.
The water is clear. Our children liked it very much to look out for the various fishes.
The beach is not crowded at all. So, you have a lot of space, also for playing.
Also the gardens offers a lot of space for playing and just strolling around.
The area is very quite - ideal for relaxing.
The people are very friendly - especially Maria, the owner, is a wonderful host and most helpful. Thank you so much, Maria.
We highly recommend Villa Marina Grande for holidays and surely will come back to this paradise for vacation sometime.

We have just returned from a fantastic two week holiday in this idyllic part of Italy. The villa was lovely - ample of space and a beautiful terrace. Having the beach at the end of the garden was just incredible, being able to pop down for a morning, or evening swim, was perfect. We met friends on the beach during the evening football match and made friends with the owners and their family. Half of me wants to tell all my friends about it and the other half wants to keep it a secret place! Meeting no British was a welcome relaxation. We will be back. Thank you Maria

Great villa and garden
We stayed at the Villa Marina Grande with two small children for two weeks in June, and enjoyed it so much that we sometimes skipped the beach to lounge on the big terrace, reading and drinking cocktails or splashing in a mini pool we bought (depending on the age...). Clean, with everything that we needed, and help around the corner for any question. The only small bother was that the bar on the beach had entertainment every evening, and we heard their speakers instead of the sea (but not an issue to sleep). Otherwise everything was perfect. We also appreciated the mosquito nets in all the windows. This was by far one of the best rentals we ever had all across Europe's seaside.

For the third time, we go in vacation to the Villa Marina, we enjoy it still very much.
The two villas are just perfect for vacation. This time, we enjoyed the "villa grande" with our 3 children.
Children can play in the huge garden.

Everything is exactly as described on the site.
We are already waiting to go back.

This property is perfect for a family retreat! The compound is beautifully maintained, secured and fully gated, and right across from a fantastic beach. We have stayed in all three units and each is well equipped, extremely clean, spacious, and comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for an Italian getaway with all of the comforts.

Scots in Calabria
This was our first holiday in Calabria following our daughters wedding in Cosenza. The villa exceeded all our expectations -we were warmly welcomed by the owners and the house keeper was SO helpful and friendly. The location is ideal -secluded and private but just metres from the beach and sea.The apartment was very clean and furnished and equipped to a lovely standard- the shady spacious balcony was perfect for us -would recommmend to our family and friends and would love to return -insect screens on the windows would be a great benefit-we were badly bitten-wonderful area -nearby mountain villages well worth visiting if you can tear yourself away from this wonderful place!Marina di Davoli has a good selection of shops and fabulous gelaterie!

wonderful place for relaxing and beach holidays
We were in house Marina Grande from 29/06 till 05/07/2008 - definitely to short! We will come again - sometimes!
Ideally place for beach holidays, just across the garden and the small Lungomare (less traffic) and you are on the beach - beautiful white sand, clear water (on the waterline some pebbles) and how wonderful, from Monday to Saturday really less people (you have the feeling of a private beach), only on Sundays "la famiglia Italiana" occupied the beaches.
Thank God! Very few tourists, more locals!!!!
Something about the house:
The owner has found a really pretty way to care their guests and to give them the feeling of beeing welcome.
The house is definitely OK (we found everything as described, maybe there was a little bit more as expected like an ironing board and iron, clothes horse, some books to read - "unfortunately" more in English than in German), big garden with lemon trees, figs, palms, flowers..., wonderful and big shady terrace with a nice view to the sea (we enjoyed it really to go to the beach for swimming, back to the house, having a outdor-shower and than - relaxing on the shady terrace, no sunburn :-), having a cool drink/coffee and looking to the sea).
The whole house was neat and tidy (not to be a given in the South)!!!!!
What we missed a little bit: a fly sreen-door, a pool and a TV
Surrounding:
bakery, 3km (in Davoli, near UPIM) open also on Sunday mornings
Supermarket called UPIM, 3 km (Davoli)
good restaurant/pizerria: Paradise, about 900m (near the dry torrent)
coffee on the beach or ice for the kids: just about 70m from the house on the Lungomare
nice promenade in Soverato (also with amusement for kids) - only on weekends there's a lot going on
Must see:
some nice small villages on the hills with great seaside view in the back country of Davoli and Sostene Marina,
Scilla,
Parco Nazionale dell' Aspromonte,
Tropea ....
Brief summary: We had wonderful holidays in house Marina Grande and we could absolute recommended it!!!
A small notice at the end, absolutely nothing to do with house Marina Grande, but should be mentioned: The South of Italy has generally a bad problem with garbage and waste disposal!! It makes us sad and thoughtful that people there have no interest in protect their wonderful landscape. In many places along the roadsides - heaps of garbage :(

The place for a family vacation
We took our family to this beautiful place the entire month of June/2006.
What a place. The grounds are impeccable- the beach unbelievable and the people the best you could ever find.
The beach right across the street was almost completely deserted and as clean and as white as could be.
Friendly family restaurants are within walking distance and the food and service are terrific. Again the people are just fantastic.
We look forward to going back and we shall.
The grounds are gated and safe for children. Little playground for them.
The main house has a spacious veranda and opens to panoramic views of the Ionian Sea. Paradise!!!
