This hidden gem in the heart of Ajijic couldn't have been better. 5 Stars in every category!! Beautiful garden setting, clean colorful rooms, awesome comfortable bed, big well furnished bathroom and fully equipped kitchen, all in great condition and very clean and quiet. Mary is a perfect Hostess and her dog Charlie is a cutie. We are planning a return visit in June and hope we can stay here again. Thanks Mary for being AWESOME!

Mary’s house is a wonderful place to stay as you explore the area. It feels very safe and secure and begins to feel like your home away from home. It is stocked with everything you might need and Mary is extremely helpful and welcoming. Grateful for her hospitality.

We stayed at Mary’s lovely casita for 3 weeks and we can’t wait to get back again! We had a lovely kitchen, big, comfy bed, great living/working space and even a laundry area. The casita opens onto her beautiful garden with lots of outdoor seating. Mary is always available to help with any questions (but is never intrusive) and even gave my husband a ride to the dentist when his driver didn’t show! We truly enjoyed Mary’s company, her beautiful property and sweet Charlie (her dog) very much!

The property has a nice open courtyard and a very Mexican feel. Mary the host is very helpful with your requests for discovering the area. We really enjoyed ourselves.

From the moment we walked thru the metal gates, we knew this was going to be a place we would thoroughly enjoy. Our casita (Casa de colores) was decorated in traditional Mexico style and was spacious and very comfortable. There were several outdoor seating areas where we could sit and enjoy the beautiful gardens and visit with new friends. Within walking distance to the lake, the Wednesday market, many wonderful restaurants, and close to everything we wanted to do in Ajijic. Mary, our host, was excellent and went out of her way in helping us with our stay. We feel like we hit the jackpot finding this place.

PERFECTION!!!!!!
We stayed two months in Casa Colores (Feb&March,'22). This is the largest casita of the four and was absolutely perfect. The decor, tilework, artwork, colors, furniture, etc, is in keeping with colonial Mex. The front door entry opens to a magical courtyard of beautiful plants and fountain. The open tiled archway is charming with planters, coach lights, outdoor furniture and at night magical garden lighting. The best thing about this facility, though, is Mary. She insures that you have everything you need - she drove us to the market for our provisions, gave us advice on restaurants, etc. The casita has a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, comfortable furniture in living room, HUGE bathroom and a king bed, sofa and a wall of closets for all your belongings. The location is walkable to the malecon, plaza, restaurants, and shops. Ajijic's homes and buildings are covered with colorful and magical murals. We are travelers and this facility is the very best we have had the opportunity to visit. We were sad to leave. I must add that Mary's little dog, Charlie, gave us our furfix every day and put a smile on our faces.

Super Property and Super Host
Our stay was wonderful. Beautiful accommodations and old world charm. Our Hostess Mary was very accommodating . First day there she took us shopping for supplies, took us to pick up our rental car and even went to the bank with us. Mary is a perfect hostess . We will be back and stay with her again.

What a special Casita and experience
I'm going to forego the impression of the property itself - other than to say it was clean, stunning, comfortable, and beautiful. We stayed 7 days and will return. We wanted to get a feel for the way life is in Ajijic for an eventual permanent move. For us, we could not have had the universe guide us to a better spot. Mary is a wonderful soul and the others who were staying there (there are 3 other Casita's she has available, 2 were occupied), were as well. The lake is a short distance away, as is the Wednesday Market, main road, restaurants and shops, and most other amenities. Mary has a wealth of knowledge and experience as an ex-pat in the town and is willing to share it all. I could go on and on - but, simply choose this slice of tranquility - you won't be disappointed.

We felt lucky to stay in this beautiful apartment on one side of Mary's bright, flower-filled courtyard, where avocados fell at our feet and Mary shared them willingly. The decor is all bright colours, with lovely paintings and furniture, and the casita had everything we needed. Mary was very welcoming and helpful, and so kind. The casita was clean and comfortable, with a lovely outdoor area as well. We lacked for nothing. It was a 10- to 15-minute walk downtown, and there is a grocery store a 5-minute walk away, plus a great market nearby on Wednesdays. Highly recommended.

Mary is an absolute gem. She takes exceptional care of her guests and yet affords you all the privacy you could want. We arrived as restaurants were closing. She drove us to one that was still open so we could place an order to go. Then she drove us to the market so we could buy essentials for the morning. Her water system is completely filtered. You'll have no worries about cooking or drinking from the tap. It's a great place to stay. We're definitely staying here again when we return to Ajijic.

Comfort and Joy
For our first stay in Ajijic we could not have been better served. Starting with a gracious hostess that helps you settle into the Ajijic rhythm of the place, i.e. market where to shop restaurants etc. Our specific suite was well decorated in the local flavour yet very comfortable with spacious rooms. As we ate in the kitchen was well appointed with sharp knives even non chemically coated pans. good ventilation + good ceiling fans. Exterior covered area is spacious with sofa, eating table and superb garden with citrus and Avocado available to tenants. Mosquitos can show up at sundown so one can use the local Zen Mosquito spray all natural and fragrant. All the guests were cordial and friendly (3 suites)

It was our "home away from home."
Beautiful, spacious and spotless! We enjoyed walking to many nearby restaurants, the weekly market and the lakeside malecon. We especially enjoyed the evening sunsets overlooking the lake form the rooftop patio. Our host, Mary was so warm and accomodating, eager to help us with anything we needed - including a ride to get groceries and the ATM when we first arrived. This place is a real gem - don't hesitate to book it, if it is available!

Great , fantastic place to stay.
Mary is absolutely the best hostess that we have ever encountered in our worldly travels . Need to go to the bank, grocery store , restaraunts, directions? Mary is there to help . And did I mention her Casitas? They are clean , cozy , comfortable and quite affordable. The Casitas are in close proximity to restaurants, stores, The Malecon and many other businesses. Thankyou again Mary for another wonderful stay. Art & Rose .

Beautiful casita with wonderful owner.
My husband and I LOVED the casita and LOVED our hosts, Mary and Charlie, her sweet dog. Mary was more than accommodating, warm, generous, and gracious. We feel we've found a new, good friend at Ajijic in Lake Chapala. The casita is large, full of light, very comfortable in every way and just looking out at Mary's beautifully landscaped courtyard was heaven. This was our first visit to Ajijic and Mary gave us great information about restaurants and sites that may be of interest to us. Her personal touch and approach to us was so kind and generous. She actually drove us around and we got to experience some of the local festivities there, which opened our eyes to the local culture and people. We highly recommend this property and the owner. We couldn't be more pleased with our experience.

A beautiful property.
The casita had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. We found it to be just as described in the VRBO description. Mary was a very gracious host and attentive to all our needs. We found several very good restaurants near by and the walk to the Plaza was not far. We highly recommend this property.

Good location, away from street noise, well appointed, owner on site, clean as a whistle, English TV, Apple Play, and comfortable inside and out.

Charming and convenient
This 3-casita property is a treasure we’d reccommend enthusiastically to anyone. The complete charm of the place and every beautiful touch made us feel truly at home every day.
We stayed in the most Mexican-styled of the 3 casitas on this property; spacious and warmly decorated with bright colors and tiles. The host Mary’s residence is there on site. The patio photo of the lush lawn, cascades of flowers and rounded mountains reflects exactly what you will see every day. The huge bathroom gave unequalled space and the bedroom features an entire wall of storage closets. On the first floor, coming and going was easy; large washer & dryer were convenient. The casita was fully equipped with every housekeeping item we needed. The home felt peaceful, quiet and secure. We appreciated the opportunity for off-street parking. The good location was a short (10 min) walk to the town center.
But the capstone was Mary’s personal presence - warm and real, available as much and when you wish, offering her own local advice and personal experience as an ex-pat. We were grateful Mary drove us to the Mercado on arrival day to facilitate the return with multiple bags of first-trip groceries. (Any other day, it’s an easy walk). We also appreciated Mary’s initial car tour of the Ajijic area which helped us get our immediate bearings. She explained she regularly offers these courtesies to her arriving guests; even above and beyond the helpfulness of other hosts we’ve considered generous in so many countries.
This clean, spacious lovely casita with gorgeous grounds and gracious host is not to be passed up!

Wonderful place in a great location.
The place was just what we needed. Many areas are within walking distance (i.e. Wednesday's farmers' market, grocery store, hair salon, Lake Chapala, restaurants, bars, etc.). The casita is very well appointed with comfortable furnishings, good flat screen TV, comfortable bed. Mary is such a good host as is her adorable dog, Charlie. We would come here again!

A Slice of Mexican Heaven!
My intention was to take a break from my business in San Diego and investigate the possibility of an early "semi-retirement", to see for myself all of the great things I was learning about the area of Ajijic/Lake Chapala. When I asked, Mary said that her place would be perfect for this, and she was right!
Mary was a very gracious hostess. Not only did she ensure that I found her place and show me around when I got there, she even took me to the local grocery store in her car (it's a 5 min. walk), to see that I had food in the fridge for the following day. Her little terrier Charlie came with us.....he's soooooo adorable, he made me feel less homesick for my own doggies!
The casita itself was prisitine and very spacious- loved the decor, extra tall ceilings and have to admit, watched my share of Netflix & YouTube on the large smart TV at night. The kitchen was supplied with everything I needed to make my bulletproof coffee/ smoothies & cook light meals. I especially loved the tropical feel and sounds of the large courtyard garden. There are four other living spaces in the hacienda, including Mary's. I felt that I had my privacy, yet comforting to know there were others around. If I had a question about where to go, etc., Mary was always there and very helpful. Her son David was visiting from Japan and staying in one of the casitas and he was very cordial and helpful, as was the other visitor, Shannon.
As for visiting the towns of Ajijic/Chapala, well that's another story, but suffice it to say I had a fantastic time, so many things to do and see.....Iike Mary said, I should have booked more than 1 week!

A bit of heaven
The casita is a perfect spot from which to enjoy Ajijic. It is very attractive and open to a lovely courtyard garden full of birds. The kitchen is well supplied and as the grocery store is just a few blocks away, we cooked most of our meals there . From the mirador you get a wonderful view of the lake and the mountains. Mary is very helpful and accommodating. I would gladly return for a longer stay.

Absolutely Loved It!
We had a really wonderful experience staying in Mary's casita for a month. It is a gorgeous place all the way around. The casita is tastefully decorated and very comfortable both inside and out. In addition, Mary was a terrific host- so friendly, helpful and enjoyable to talk to! We also got quite attached to Charlie, her sweet and polite dog. We also loved the location - close to downtown Ajijic, San Antonio, and an undeveloped walk along the lake. We highly recommend this place!

Awesome
We Stayed at the beautiful Casa de Colores Feb 20th-feb 27th. What a gem it is. It is beautifully decorated and maintained. No better hosts than Mary & Charlie. Great location too. My husband and I enjoyed the garden and sunbathing up on the Mirador with lake/mountain views and the horses trotting along the cobblestone streets with Mexican The whole community is very helpful and kind. Every day we did some kind of excursion and took advantage of the affordable taxi services. Went to the hotel Balmeario in San Juan Cosala for the day and used the thermal spa and hot springs therapy. Another day we went to Tonala for the market. I suggest going on a thursday instead of Sunday so U can it the shops too since we love unique Mexican pieces. We went to Chapala for a day too and our cab driver stopped even along the way so we could buy some talavera tiles. We spent a lot of time too walking through Ajijic. They have an awesome farmers market in wednesays with beautiful unique affordable treasures. Wonderful places to eat at affordable prices.
I can only hope/dream and pray that one day we will be as blessed as Mary has for this been for an opportunity such as this. She manages it effortlessly. Thank u Mary for being so marvelous. We miss u, Charlie and Ajijic and plan on returning sooner than later.
