Unsere Wohnung befindet sich im 1. Stock mit fantastischem Blick auf den Atlantikstrand und die Dünen. NEUER BODENBODEN wurde Anfang 2018 verlegt. Unser Ocean Front Deck ist der perfekte Ort, um den Sonnenaufgang über der Atlantikbrandung zu beobachten, Delfine spielen und Pelikane fliegen zu sehen und den Tag im Leerlauf zu verbringen. Stellen Sie sich Ihren Morgenkaffee vor und Sie sitzen auf dem Deck und beobachten den Sonnenaufgang, die Brandung und die vorbeifliegenden Pelikane, wenn sie ihren Tag beginnen. Bringen Sie Ihr Fernglas mit oder verwenden Sie unser für Nahaufnahmen der Delfine, Pelikane, Seetaucher, Strandläufer, Möwen usw. I’ll start on a positive note - communication with the owners was good. I liked that the unit was self-entry via a keypad. And I liked that this unit was ocean-facing and just a short boardwalk from the beach.
However the property, building, and unit were all very dated and run-down so we were disappointed with our stay. Most importantly was safety; I would not feel comfortable staying there as a single woman as the parking lot and stairwell were poorly lit and there was no deadbolt on the main door. Also, the unit needed a deep clean; although the surfaces appeared “tidy” there was still visible dust in all the corners and on the fans, etc. I’ve never paid for a rental where I was asked to provide my own linens, towels, or toilet paper. Ultimately, I was glad we were forced to bring our own sheets and towels because I wouldn’t have felt clean otherwise. I wonder how long it’s been, if ever, since the comforter or pillows were washed? The bed (queen-sized) desperately needs to be replaced as it has a major sink hole in the center and made it extremely uncomfortable to sleep in. Likewise, the guests are asked to vacuum and take out their own trash, so it brings into question when the unit gets thoroughly cleaned in between guests. For how expensive this place was, it was shocking how little the owners provided for amenities or conveniences.
Anyways, this rental is fine if you plan to explore the OBX and not spend much time in the unit beyond sleeping/showering.

This is my second time at this property. Stayed here with my adult daughter at the beginning of summer and I liked it so much I came back myself for the end of summer! Great location right on the beach, watch the sun rise over the Atlantic from the deck. Clean and well stocked, cute property close to lots of restaurants and activities. Can’t beat it!

I believe this is my 3rd stay at this perfect condo. I look forward to it every year. Amazing location and views. Correspondence with owners always fast and pleasant. Already looking forward to next year. Could not recommend more.

Our family had a great time staying in Duck for our first OBX visit. Condo is exactly as shown. Our whole family had a great time with lots if beach time, pool time and taking in some local sites. Thank you!

The beach is fantastic! After you go over the dune, go to your right to set up camp as it’s easier to get out to the sandbar (or at least it was in July ‘24) and you’re closer to the lifeguard station. Our kids had so much fun in the ocean. This is a five-star location as you are maybe 1 minute to getting out on the sand. The condo itself is nice—though it really needs a new queen bed. The bunk beds are great for little kids, but if you have a teen, consider getting linens for the pull-out couch. The bunk bed mattresses could have been a bit more comfy as well. We flew into Norfolk and then drove out to Duck. If you do the same, stop and get toilet paper on the way. I feel like for the price, the owners could provide 4 rolls of toilet paper and 2 rolls of paper towels. The kitchen had all the utensils/plates/cookware but nothing else (oil/spices/etc.) We had planned to use the owner’s umbrella and chairs, but they were all rusted-out and broken. However, after contacting the owner, they quickly replaced them, which was very nice. If you can afford it, hire a company to set up umbrellas and chairs for you on the beach every day. You’ll get the best spot and then you will only have to bring down boogie boards, drinks, and towels. We rented an umbrella, linens, and a boogie board from Ocean Atlantic Rentals—the whole process was easy. Overall, it was a great location and we loved the beach. Duck is a super-cute town with great restaurants and much better than Kitty Hawk.

We loved our stay at Dune Nest! The property has amazing ocean views and is well stocked with everything you need. Our 4 year old loved the bunk beds, and the privacy curtains made it easy for her to fall asleep while we stayed up and enjoyed the deck. The mattress and pillows in the master bedroom were the only negatives--very worn and uncomfortable.

The Dune Nest in Duck, NC was clean and comfy - a true “home” at the end of our days’ adventures. The location right on the ocean was wonderful and we enjoyed the deck both morning and night. The hosts were very responsive to my emailed questions and provided good info. prior to our trip. We have zero complaints. except, maybe, that the week went by too quickly. Thank you!!

The condo was just perfect for the 2 of us. Communication with the owners was timely and check in was flawless. Everything was clean and well laid out. The view of the ocean from the back deck (4 nice chairs) is amazing. We spent a lot of time on the deck watching the waves and relaxing. The walk to Duck is an easy .8 mile. There's a ton of places to explore in the area. Plenty of great restaurants are within a few minutes and the grocery store is close. Except for the cool, rainy weather (yes it's May), we had a great vacation at Dune Nest.

We stayed on the Outer Banks during March, so off-season. The condo is clean, very quiet, and surprisingly private. This end unit condo has a perfect view of the dunes and the ocean; the roar of the surf and the super close boardwalk to the sand were everything I wanted in a winter beach vacation.

I had an incredible time on my stay here. It was beautiful, quiet and had an incredible view.
A favorite moment was EVERY morning around 10 am the dolphins came to play right in front of the condo. One day they stayed for about 45 minutes just jumping and playing. There were a pair of binoculars left for guests so it was so much fun just watching them up close while I drank my morning energy drink!
A Note- I didn't read my check-in instructions very well until RIGHT before I left so I almost came without linens. Be aware to bring your own towels and linens.
Mike and Mary were incredibly responsive and worked with me on the few requests I had. I will definitely come back!

The condo was organized well and was great for my husband and I to spend a few days together. Clean rooms, comfortable furniture, nice artwork. Mike and Mary did a great job communicating.
A cold spell gave us a deserted beach, and we enjoyed bundling up and taking long walks. Being the off-season, some restaurants and shops were closed, but we appreciated the absence of crowds and found plenty of interesting places and delicious food.
We did not love bringing our own sheets, towels, kitchen towels, soap, toilet paper and tissues! We had to fly here, and it was pretty inconvenient packing them and then taking home wet things--a little bit like camping.

Wonderful view of the ocean. The deck was great. Never got tired of the surf sounds. Fully equipped kitchen. Great location, close to Duck’s boardwalk with shopping and dining. We stayed in the 3rd week of October. Very laid back, few people. We would definitely return to Dune Nest.
Make sure you understand if you need to supply your own linens and what cleaning is required before check out.

This is a wonderful condo right on the beach in Duck, within walking distance of all the restaurants. The condo itself is very nice and comfortable. We did have to bring our own linens, towels, toilet paper, paper towels, dish detergent, My only negative comment concerns the list of tasks the owners expected upon leaving - they wanted the beds made as they were found, dishes washed, trash taken out (which that one makes sense to me), the place vacuumed - I'm wondering what our cleaning fee covered. (we did do the tasks requested) But the location is so good and it is a comfortable condo so I would definitely stay there again.

Weather was not great but we still had a nice and relaxing vacation. Property was very clean on arrival and fully stocked with everything we needed. Will be back next year but stay longer than 5 nights.

We have been vacationing in Duck for 15 years always staying at Colony by the Sea. For one reason or another, condos we have stayed in have become unavailable for rent. This was our first year in this particular condo and it was wonderful. The condo was spotless which is extremely important to me, updated, and very accessible. Owners were very responsive to the one question I had. We will definitely stay here again!

We have been coming to Duck for over 40 years. Always have stayed with our friends who own a house - but not enough rooms for our three-generation group. We have stayed at Colony by the Sea before, but this condo is truly exceptional - very well equipped, beautifully decorated (light and bright) and an incredible location: steps from the ocean, parking VERY close to the condo, and perfect walking/bike riding distance from all the special things that Duck has to offer. Trust me - you will not regret booking this place!

This property was tops! Beautiful condo right on the water with excellent pool and outdoor amenities. Duck is an adorable and well designed town with a gorgeous bay side boardwalk that I could walk every evening to watch the sunset and never get board. The beach was gorgeous! We hope to return soon.

We had a great week at Dune Nest! The condo is the closest one to the water and we had great morning views of the ocean while drinking our coffee out on the deck. Keep an eye out for dolphins! Mike was very helpful and responsive to our messages. Would highly recommend!

The weather was TERRIBLE, but we still very much enjoyed our stay. The apartment was impeccably clean and comfortable. We'll definitely be back to enjoy Duck in warmer, sunnier weather.

Duck, NC is the perfect OBX destination.... and Dune Nest is the perfect place to stay!

The condo is in a great location. Very walkable to restaurants and shops.
Unfortunately we didn't have the greatest weather during our stay (cool and extremely windy) so we didn't get to enjoy the beach or even really sit out on balcony. But what a great view it is from the balcony to see the beach! We did get to see one sunrise because it wasn't cloudy that day and so nice to view from the living room (I tried balcony but the winds were 15-20 mph during my stay so just too blustery). The condo is very spacious and comfy. Besides the weather (which obviously couldn't be helped), I loved my stay here. I even saw deer and rabbits around the property.
Overall a great experience with easy check in information and clean spacious condo. If I ever come back to the Outer Banks, I will definitely stay here again.

This unit was perfect for us! Only two of us, but plenty of room to not bump into each other! Cute and nicely decorated. Only one floor to walk up, and nice view of the ocean. Also loved being in earshot of the crashing waves! Duck is a 1.5 mile walk, and all flat if you are so inclined. There are a lot of dining choices, but be prepared to pay top price. Adorable shops and Duck Donuts is a MUST!

This is a nice place! It had everything we needed, though we brought our own linens. It was comfortable, nicely appointed and great for 2 kids and 2 adults to enjoy a quick little get away to Duck for a couple of days.
Since its the lowest floor, you can see the ocean, but not the beach, which was fine for us. It is on the far side of the building, so you will have to walk a little further than those on the other side of the building (be honest - we all need those extra steps, don't we?)
They had a few items in the storage box outside that were helpful at the beach.
The location is perfect.
You could walk into "town" and restaurants, but the drive is 2 minutes. We drove.
All in all, it was a relaxing, relatively low cost stay, in a nice place. Its all we were looking for.
