Enjoyed our stay on the sound. Beautiful views. Well stocked kitchen with everything you need. Very roomy and cozy.

Was either our 4th or 5th stay at SBR, and regardless, we still love this home just as much as our 1st stay. One noted difference this stay seemed to be that the house was even cleaner than before -- meticulous! Also love that the beds were made & bath towels were waiting...no having to schlep/pack them. Swing Belly's location cannot be beat, both quiet and private (vs RunBoat and other busy neighborhoods). Personally, we also appreciate the proximity to ramp #49. Kitchen is uber-stocked with any/all utensils and cookware one could ever need. Sunsets (and even sunrise reflections) are gorgeous. Ophelia chased us out (our decision), knowing the congestion & long drive we would face if we waited to leave the island after she blew over...but even with a vacation cut short, we left truly content.

The sound front location is so beautiful and this home is in a quite spot. The sunsets from the deck are indescribable and the views from inside the home is also lovely. We had a wonderful lightening storm over the sound on our last night. We turned out the house lights and watched nature’s fireworks. It was magocal!

After a 9 hour drive we walked into a peaceful paradise! Spectacular views and stunning sunsets every night! The stars were amazing! The location was perfect. Beach was beautiful and close. When we didn’t feel like going to the beach, we could walk right down the walkway and go floating in the sound ! The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed and more! The ramp was a plus since we brought our mother who’s 89 and her best friend who’s also 89. They had a fabulous time relaxing and reading on the deck and just watching the birds! We will definitely be back!

We love the sunsets on Pamlico sound. The house has large windows that take in these views. There is a small marshy area between the house and the sound. We saw deer and egrets in the marsh. There’s also a boardwalk from the house over the marsh to the shore. The boardwalk is not only for walking but makes for some great photo opportunities as well. Everyone had a great time, including a wheelchair confined young lady who hasn’t been to the beach since she was little. The dogs loved the sound access. And the grand kids loved the loft at the top of the spiral staircase. They called it their Pirates crows nest.

House is wonderful and very relaxing. Wonderful view of the sound and beach was within minutes. House had everything you could possibly need for amazing seafood feasts. We are looking forward to returning!

This was our 2nd stay at Swing Bellys Roost, and looking forward to coming back next year. House is great, lots of privacy, and wonderful to be on the water.

Loved this property. I am 80 and the ramp was a big plus. View was stunning. Felt like we were sitting on the sound. I never ventured up the spiral stairs but my son loved the space upstairs for reading and the view. Living area very comfortable. Kitchen roomy and well stocked. We enjoyed purchasing fresh seafood and preparing there. Boardwalk to sound also a plus. My son brought his canoe and did some paddling. Liked that bedroom bathroom areas could be closed off with pocket doors. A couple of negatives (which did not detract from our enjoyment of the property) both screened porches need work and suggest owners get rid of broken furniture on deck. Loved the place and hope to return again.

This house and property is beautiful! You have everything you need or would want at the house. The property is right on the water and is private and the sunsets are gorgeous. This house also has a wonderful ramp that I used to load and unload my belongings instead of using the stairs. Theresa, the owner, is a wonderful host, extremely easy to communicate with and responds right back with any questions, etc. I loved my stay here and I am looking forward to staying here again.

The sound is just out back, with knee deep water in all directions, and a pretty natural coastline to enjoy. Unobstructed sunsets and starry nights. Quiet, safe neighborhood. The house was as advertised and had everything we needed. My wife and I would love to return some time.

This was our first time staying on the sound side. The sunsets were amazing every evening! Our host was easy to communicate with and very accommodating. The house is very clean and comfortable and has everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, the neighborhood is very quiet.

If you like tranquility and privacy, this is your place. Located very conveniently to the orv beach access. It has great soundfront views, just one flight of stairs to climb and a large outside shower. Theresa- thanks for everything!

Lovely sunsets!!

The house was decorated so nicely. It set very close to the sound and had this great walk way down to the sound. Quiet neighborhood it was like we were the only people there. Kitchen was well stocked. The deck was spacious enough for our crowd. Very nice house and property and it was a great and relaxing vacation.

Absolutely the easiest rental process ever. The owner was fantastic and prompt! We will be using Vrbo again!

It's perfect for smaller kids to swim in the sound and easy drive to beach!

This is the perfect place for our little band of travelers. It’s fairly secluded and very quiet. The sound front location is great for kayaking and fishing or just floating around in the water. The kitchen is well equipped and the furniture and beds are comfortable. The layout all on one floor is both unusual and welcome and the loft is just a wonderful bonus. And the sunsets. There are no words.

Great stay on the sound and a short drive to the off road area of the beach in Frisco.

We stay at SBR every year and it never disappoints. The location and privacy are fabulous and the layout combines a family oriented Great room with just enough bedroom privacy for those who want to view the stars off the deck later into the night.

The house is located at the end of a short side road. It's off to itself and can be very quiet. What a lovely place to spend a week. The views from the balcony are incredible. At times you only hear the wind and the waves. We will go back.

This house has character and authenticity not often found in rental homes on the Outer Banks. The location on the sound is perfect and natural. The sunsets are off the charts!

We enjoyed our stay at SBR - views from deck were lovely- we tried to arrange our schedule to be there at sunset every night. House had everything we needed - even a juicer to make orange crush cocktails! Short drive to beach, grocery store, and restaurants. Looking forward to returning!

In 50+ years of vacationing & owning property on Cape Hatteras, we've stayed in many homes (and my parents' own property there). SBR is THE way the island was meant to be savored...quiet, a bit off the beaten path, perfect sunsets and a simple layout in a wonderfully functional home. This is not an over-the-top, new build with a kazillion beds and electronics for multiple families. Rather, it is a one-floor layout conducive to family togetherness...like putting together puzzles, throwing the ball in the sound for the pup to swim, or preparing a meal together & then dining to talk about the day. Or, if you're like us with adult children, idyllic to enjoy a beverage in the hot tub & reminisce. The kitchen is by far one of the best equipped we've experienced, with everything one could ever need to prepare any type of meal...from crab mallets & oyster knives to pasta pots & an electric griddle for family pancake breakfasts. All-in-all, Swing Belly's Roost is the perfect location, regardless of the unpredictable Hatteras weather. The access ramp even allows you to bring Grandma...and ours loved her stay here more than we ever could have imagined. This was our second time back to this wonderful home and we will definitely be returning again.

Great sound views, lovely sunsets. House is extremely comfortable and welcoming. We loved the decorations. Nice boardwalk from the rear of the house out to the sound. While we do not have gear for watersports, I would imagine this would be a good place to launch a kayak or paddleboard, etc. Kitchen was very well stocked with anything we could have wanted with small and large skillets and a lot of baking, boiling, and steaming pots. Extra large pots over the laundry area and extra blankets on the bunk room. Theresa is a great host, fast response via message and accommodating and welcoming. We had multiple family members with back and mobility issues, and the ramp in the front and the one step-in shower helped tremendously. Also helpful for loading the cooler and dog crate. We love to bring our fur kids along, and they also loved this house. Our older dog also appreciated the ramp. We spent lots of time on the rear deck enjoying the sound views. We appreciated the sturdy and comfortable deck furniture. We had gale force winds on our last night and none of the deck furniture blew around or got knocked over. Each rear bedroom connects to its own small screened porch. On the East side there is a picnic table in the screened area, and the west bedroom has the hot tub in its screened area. Great place for relaxing and watching the sunset. It was warm enough that some of us used the very nice outdoor shower. We grilled one meal and the park grill (charcoal) was in good condition. House is on a quiet cul de sac in a residential area. Walking up the ramp almost feels like you are entering a tree house with live oaks all around. While only about 2 blocks from the highway, we did not notice any road noise. This area of the island is not commercialized at all. There might be a bait and tackle shop a mile or so away, but be prepared to drive 6 - 8 minutes to the nearest grocery - Conner's at Buxton or the Red & White at Hatteras Village. The house was clean and comfortable and exceeded our expectations. We will be back.

Even though the house is dated, the location can’t be beat. Complete privacy, nice sand beach entry to the sound, great views! Would stay again.

This cottage has many advantages- fantastic, prompt, communication from the owner; lovely quiet location on the sound; ability to kayak/ paddleboard daily right from the house; screened in area for hot tub for those “buggy” nights; plenty of kitchen items/ dishes/ pots/ pans etc.; very private and quiet with a woodsy setting (remember to bring bug spray for outside) yet still able to see gorgeous sunsets and abundant starry nights over the sound; a quick 5-7 minute drive to the beach. We enjoyed our 2 week stay.😎
