We had an absolutely beautiful week in the beach cottage. The setting is stellar, the cabin is adorable and we slept with the doors wide open, lulled to sleep by the gentle waves. We swam and fished off the dock, had cocktails at sunset and coffee in the Adirondack chairs as the sun came up. Just an idyllic week, we are already dreaming about coming back!

A beautiful, restful stay
This place is a hidden gem. Watching the sunset every night and listening to the water and loons made for an unforgettable and much-needed nature getaway.

GREAT EXPERIENCE!!
Beautiful spot! We started our stay after a few days of camping up in Maine. This was a great place to relax for a few days. Ben was very personable.

Swim Shack
You wont get closer to the ocean than this. It has everything you need and nothing you dont. The sunsets were overwhelmingly beautiful and we had front row seats every night. Cant wait to go back.

Relaxing Getaway
Beautiful ocean front getaway. We had a great time at this quaint cottage with spectacular views of the ocean. The cottage had everything we needed to just relax and unwind. We sat and watched humming birds flutter by, osprey, even a bald eagle stopped by!! We had a lobster boiled in sea water (right from our front door), and the grill and utensil provided made making meals easy and convenient. My boyfriend had fun fishing off the dock. Hiking trails, restaurants, and activities were convenient to get to from the property. The outdoor shower was amazing and the view!!! The bed and bedding were comfy and snuggly . The wood stove inside made chilly nights cozy.

Relaxing Oceanfront getaway
We absolutely love this property. We have stayed here for the past three summers and often find 1 week is not enough! The smell of the ocean, so many birds to watch and the outdoor shower makes this rustic cabin a gem! There is nothing like showering in the great outdoors! (with a privacy canoe- - of course)

My boyfriend and I had the most relaxing stay here! So much to do with such little time. We had the best "glamping" experience ever! We will definitely be returning and Ben is a wonderful host! I'm definitely ready to return already!!

Great little cabin to getaway from the hustle and bustle of a big city. The lapping shoreline was great to fall asleep to, and the sounds of birds were welcomed to wake up to. Gorgeous drives to get anywhere on the island. Thank you Ben !

Good but can be better
We loved the location of the cabin and rustic vibe however; could use some upgrades or attention to detail.
The sheets, blankets and pillows seemed worn out and we were concerned if they were even washed. The couch was also very worn out and sunk in when sitting on it. Loved the outdoor shower and the on demand hot water but could use a hook to hang your towel. There is no real light in the place besides a lamp which we had to hang in an area where we had to run an extension cord that a previous person left behind. Loved the cooked stove as it was nice to have a fire going but there was no fire starter. Therefore the first night we had difficulty getting a fire going. Not a big deal if it wasn’t so cold at night.
The grill was partially functional and not cleaned. We ultimately did not use it.

We never heard from the owner except a directions email. I had to mend the handle to the fire, buy a 20ft electric cable and do some wiring acrobatics so the light and our CPAPs could work, the grill needed a darn good clean, the neighbors with 3 dogs were very evident and as no curtains it was difficult. On the one hot day we came back to find the place full of flies, must have killed 200+, it was awful. There are now fly papers hanging. Lots of cobwebs around and the wind blows through, indoors, when it’s cold. Wonderful location, great sunsets and stars. Outside shower and toilet a challenge in low temps but we coped. Toilet paper had bugs in under the sink. I had to repair the door to the freezer compartment in the fridge with duct tape. Despite all that we enjoyed it but a little attention could have made it great. Why we have to leave by 10am and entry is not until 4pm amuses me when it obviously only had the bed made and some towels put out. There’s little else to do, so why 6 hours?

Tremendously enjoyed our week here—waking up to the sound of waves, grilling at sunset, watching otters off the dock, Hiking at Acadia.

One of a Kind Maine Coast Retreat
Fantastic place! We spent days swimming, kayaking (we rented kayaks from National Park Canoe Rental), and sitting in the cabin enjoying the salt air. The cabin is the perfect balance of rustic and comfortable. We loved used the outdoor shower, watching the moon rise on the ocean, and keeping the doors wide open all day. The cabin is close to great Acadia hikes and Southwest Harbor. The dock was not in the water during our visit, but we still enjoyed being able to walk down to the water on the rocky beach. Would highly recommend--we will likely return!

Camping in style
An easy stone's-throw from the ocean, the sound of the waves on the stony beach was a wonderful constant background. It is a one-room cabin but with space enough -- a comfy queen bed, a real kitchen, and a sitting area that works for dining for two. A micro-wave, a sturdy toaster oven, a two-burner Coleman camp stove, and a large propane grill allow for real cooking. The outdoor shower with on-demand hot water was a delight, especially after swimming in the cold ocean. Mosquitoes were a problem, but the owner sprayed, which helped. The deep water dock was great, but note that the float was not in the water this year, so check whether it will be in for your stay. Being a one-room cabin with screen walls, privacy can be scarce with other folks occasionally walking down the huge lawn to the beach, but we found everyone to be very considerate. All in all, we can't remember ever having a better time renting on Mount Desert Island.

We loved this place!
The location of this place and the cabin itself are amazing. We loved waking up to the sound of the ocean and the views are stunning! The big screen windows let in the breeze and the sound of gentle waves and birds singing. This place is perfect for those who enjoy and appreciate simplicity.
The owners were also very friendly and quick to answer our questions about kayaking there around the shoreline!
We couldn’t have asked for a better place, so a huge thank you to the owners for being willing to share such a gem!

This property checked all boxes for me! private, with everything you need within a short drive. Loved falling asleep to the lapping waves.

The prefect Maine vacation!
Property was impeccable. The location of the cabin is close to the Acadia lighthouse and southwest harbor. We picked this place for our 18year anniversary and it did not disappoint. Outdoor shower was beautiful and the on demand hot water was fabulous. There is a wood burner for heat but it had problems keeping up. We expected that so we packed warm pajamas. This place is perfect to unplug and reconnect. The views and sunsets from the cabin where amazing. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is adventurous. Finding the cabin was a tad difficult luckily we ended up at the neighbors down the road and she happily redirected us

Great Quietside Glamp
This is a cool place -- in every sense of the word. If it's cool outside, it's cool inside because much of the walls are screens. You need to remember it's glamping, and simply put on another layer if you're cold. What's really cool though is the creativity and all the attention to detail that went into the design and construction. Where else can you take an outside shower while being shielded by the planted partial shell of an antique war canoe? Or sit on a cozy outdoor toilet and have a windowless
view of the moon thru blackened spruces? If you want a cozy cottage with a thermostat, wifi and a hot tub, this is not the place for you. This is luxurious camping in a beautiful location. It's everything as advertised and more!

A cozy cabin with a beautiful view.
My husband and I spent a week here celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. The view is absolutely beautiful. The cabin is steps away from the ocean. We saw bald eagles, herrings, seals, schools of fish from the dock. It is so peaceful. You can hear the waves in the morning and at night from the bed. The sunsets are stunning. The cabin was well equipped with everything you would need to cook meals. We cooked mostly on the outdoor grill. There are some neighbors about 100 yards away that have access to the docks but it wasn't that much of an issue. We would definately go back.

Great Time!
Really cool location close to Bernard Mountain which is a fun and challenging hike. Not too far from everything you need, including golf, seafood restaurants, hiking, rentals, and markets. Loved the place, it has all your essentials, and the pier and dock are great to sit out on.

Beautiful!
My boyfriend and I planned a trip to Maine to see the fall foliage change and to go on hikes. The cabin was perfect. We listened to the sounds of the waves and woke up to amazing views. One of our favorite things to do on this trip was eat breakfast and take in the sounds and view. We used the kayaks that are provided near the cabin, which was a good time. Ben was really helpful when we had trouble finding the cabin. I would 100% recommend! The perfect getaway spot. There’s a sports bar near by that we went to named Joey’s Place. There is a laundry mat connected to it. It is somewhat close to the cabin and good for a quick bite to eat (hamburger, wings, etc) and to watch a big game. We bought fire wood on the side of the road in front of people’s houses for $3-$4 a bundle.

A wonderful getaway
My wife and I spent our honeymoon in the waterfront cabin. It was so cozy and so close to the ocean that you can listen to the waves as you fall asleep. One of the things we liked best about our stay was waking up every morning to have coffee on the dock. It was well equipped with what we needed to have a peaceful, relaxing week. Ben was very helpful with answering any questions we had... If you're looking for something simple, quiet, and close to nature, this is the place to go. We hope to be back soon.

So you want to get away? This is the place.
If you are into rustic close quarter living, there is nothing better than this place. Amazing views, peace and quiet. My wife and I love the outdoors and could not have been happier with Ben's place. Amazing sunsets from the comfort of your bed and waking up to amazing views. The open walls of this place are awesome. It was wonderful to be just steps from the ocean and minutes from southwest harbor. So much to do and see we will defiantly be using this place as our base camp for our return adventures to MDI. Everything was clean and comfortable when we got there. The out door shower is always inviting and great for a late night shower under the stars. Ben was a great host and provided everything we needed. Great communication and responded quickly to our inquiries. This place is a Gem,

Wonderful, Cozy, and Private
We loved the cabin's closeness to the water and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Ben's cabin. We hiked and biked and explored while on MDI, but we always enjoyed coming back to the cabin on the quiet side. The cabin was clean and well kept. Ben provided everything we needed for cooking our meals. We were appreciative of having the two packable chairs for taking to sit out on the dock or on the shore.
The day after we arrived we were surprised when a barge/boat arrived to put out the floating dock. It was very nice sitting out on the floating dock.
We also enjoyed the ability to open up the wide doors to let in the breeze.

Waterfront Cabin with Private Dock and Cobblestone Beach
When we stepped out of our car and took in the gorgeous view I knew that we had picked the perfect spot for our vacation. The one-room cabin was a pure delight. So cozy and it had everything that we needed for our stay. We kept the barn like doors open our entire stay and loved looking out the ceiling to floor screens that were across the entire front of the cabin. How wonderful to wake up in the morning and look out at the ocean and the beach from our bed. The kitchen did not lack a thing and we were amazed that there was also a microwave. The on-demand shower on the back deck was marvelous and it was always nice and warm. The cabin is best for two people. There were so many nice touches from the floating dock to the fire pit on the beach, to the gas grill and to the comfy outside chairs. The cabin was very private and even though there were renters in the house and in the other cabin on the property they were far enough away from our cabin that it was never a problem. We also loved being on the quiet side of the island and especially enjoyed Thurston's Lobster Pound. Another highlight was the Island Cruises which is a nature cruise out of Bass Harbor.
My husband and I really loved this rental and we would come back in a heartbeat!

so close to the water that the sound of the waves crashing on the beach becomes your sleep mantra.
reminds one of the purity of Mother Nature to cleanse one's soul.
Northeaster blowing through reminded one of the power of wind to dominate.
stay hear and experience the bliss of simplicity.
Plan to come back again and again!!

This was our first trip to the area and Ben was extremely knowledgable and helpful. I am reluctant to even write a review because we found the cabin to be a slice of heaven and want to keep it to ourselves as our special place.
The cabin is rustic but has everything that you need including a hot shower and full toilet. It gave us all of the comforts that we needed while allowing us to enjoy our love of nature and each other. The sunsets are amazing and there is nothing like boiling fresh lobsters on the beach by a bonfire.
The cabin truly made a wonderful everlasting memory for us and we plan to return regularly.
4.9
I can't say enough wonderful things about the cabin and my dealings with Ben through the rental process. He was very responsive and great to work with in renting out the cabin, he made it easy and actually pleasurable. The cabin itself is very clean, well maintained and has the perfect amenities to make you feel at home without taking away from your connection to the landscape, beauty and fresh ocean air.
The downtown area is lovely and quaint with little shops and great restaurants. We cooked at the cabin a few times -there was a very nice lobster pot and burner for us to use- and we also ate out. The cabin is located on the "quiet" side of the island so you don't have all of the tourists like Bar Harbor, yet Bar Harbor is a short drive if you would like to visit for a day or an afternoon. The location is really the best of both worlds offering serenity when you desire, but allowing you to explore and mingle with others when (and if) you like. Acadia itself is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise with plenty of hiking trails, biking on the gorgeous carriage roads, kayaking, fishing, photography.....
If you like nature, the beach and Maine there is truly no better location than this cabin! It is a slice of heaven on Earth!
