The place was everything we needed. It was clean, in a great location, well equipped and the host were very responsive and proactive.

First stay here was for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we came back and stayed in this same condo for our 35th Wedding Anniversary. It’s clean, well stocked and the location is perfect. Thanks for sharing your little piece of Heaven with us, look forward to our return visit to this same place again!

The location next to the park is fantastic! I loved walking over to the park for a swim in the morning, and not having to fight for park parking on a saturday afternoon! The condo has been renovated with modern finishes and is very comfortable inside. Great sleep on the bed, and the fans make the interior feel cool and relaxing without AC. An easy, quick drive into Hilo. Parking spot is very close to the front door. Very good for solo traveler or a couple. The cooler was a great bonus for my driving trips around the island.
Two notes: the exterior of the building is a bit dated, but do not worry - the condo is upgraded with modern fixtures and finishes inside including usb charging outlets. Also, as others note in reviews, there was some drag racing and loud cars on the street outside the condo on weekend nights. I shut the windows and slept just fine.

Perfect location for us! Property was clean and beautifully decorated! We loved walking down to 4-Mile in the mornings and afternoons. Found honu too!

Property was clean and comfortable and a good size and security is very good. It has a dedicated parking stall. Host Terry was very helpful. You can see and hear the ocean from the balcony and there is nice swimming in the sheltered bay.
The tree frog chirping at night was part of the tropical experience. A nice place overall.

My wife and I had a very nice stay at Mauna Loa Shores! The lanai is nice and private, with a great view of the lagoon at Carlsmith Beach Park. The condo itself is very tastefully appointed and decorated, and the kitchen well equipped for cooking. The owner was very communicative leading up to our stay. We would definitely recommend this condo to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Hilo.

We enjoyed our stay in Hilo. From the beginning Terry answered all our questions
Condo clean and well stocked bed very comfortable. View of the bay as described. There is no air conditioning at the property but it didn't need it cool breezes at night were wonderful. As far as the complex as a whole it could use some tlc and especially the pool

This condo was in a good location, close to water with a beautiful view of the water through the trees. Fairly quiet, some street noise and close to airport but that didn't bother us. Condo was very clean and well kept, really have no complaints about it. We enjoyed our week long stay.

My wife and I recently visited Hilo for the hiking and turtle-spotting. We were happy to find this condo very close to the water and a 10 minute drive to downtown. Overall the condo was as advertised but the building feels more worn down with a dirty swimming pool and roaches in the kitchen.
That said, Terry was very friendly and responsive and the checkin/out process was very smooth. While I felt our expectations were reasonable, killing a few roaches everyday made us feel a little gross the whole time we were there.

The beach and surrounding area was amazing. Lots of turtles in the water right behind the property! We really enjoyed our stay here. The property was comfortable and clean. The road in front of the complex is noisy, but I wouldn’t let that deter you. Such a good spot!

Overall everything about the stay was great, just had some issue with the light on the room. I was very surprised and pleased by how much was provided for the trip, googles, etc. Great communication with tenant. For the price though; I would recommend leaving extra toilet paper for the guest; when it comes to a trip last thing we want is head to the grocery store. Other then that I recommend for only a RELAX trip.

Clean, had everything we needed.
If you are looking for a resort type experience, this isn’t it, but this clean, well stocked condo was perfect for us.
There is a bit of road noise at night, but we quickly got used to it.
You do go through an industrial area to get there, but once through that, the neighborhood is pleasant, with a number of beach parks close by.
The owner was easy to communicate with, and we’d certainly stay here again when we come back.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. Clean, great location, next to a snorkeling beach. So nice to sit on balcony and see just the tropical vegetation -water The property host gave us great ideas for things to do…places to eat around the area. A bit noisy on Saturday nights with traffic - the bedroom is on the same side as the road. There is a recycling area next to the trash which is good.

Nicely appointed and well stocked with lots of useful extras from coffee grinder to umbrella to boogie board. Lovely view from lanai. Only annoyance--road noise--but to be expected given the location. Access to Carlsmith Park totally made up for it.

As a Dish user, I found the TV user interface awful. Maybe a small thing to some but important to me. Everything else was OK.

This was our first time staying on the Big Island. We decided to stay in Hilo because of the lush greenery and we were not disappointed! Staying at Mauna Loa Shores made it easy to enjoy a swim in the ocean, just steps away from the building.
Our host, Terry gave us a list of restaurants and attractions that were a short drive away from our location.
We would stay here again the next time we're in Hilo.

Akerley stay
Only thing I did not like about property is need new toaster. Bugs in bathroom. Killed about 10 in 7days. Bathroom sink is clogged. Otherwise great place. This side of island the best

Truly Home Away from Home
There was a minor lapse in communication that resulted in us arriving at the property without knowing which unit we were in or where to get the keys, but after a few anxious moments, we got that all sorted out and found the place to be absolutely wonderful. Definitely exceeded our expectations. Clean, beautifully decorated, exceptionally well-equipped kitchen, etc. The property location is in a semi-industrial area near the airport, so not as quiet as some, but super-convenient to downtown Hilo, the highway to the volcanoes, etc.

Our home away from home!
Absolutely loved our stay at this condo. It had everything we needed to be cozy and feel welcomed. We appreciated it had flashlights for going to VNP at night and full kitchen and even recipes! We love Hilo and it’s unique charm, this condo has a great location next to some nice bobbing beaches with turtles. (Respect and don’t touch the Honu) It’s quite and I loved that they recycle and compost! My husband and I traveled from Alaska with our 6 year old and stayed 11 days. The pull out bed was perfect for a small kid. It has WiFi and lots of TVs channels so we didn’t miss our favorite shows. Residents and locals were so nice, we made a nice long lasting friend. I’d totally stay here again and the property manager is very responsive. Only complaint is we couldn’t stay longer and kitchen knives need to be sharpened ;) Mahalo again for the hospitality. A hui hou!

Loved Hilo!
The Property was as described. It is in a great location right next to Carl Smith Beach...the property manager was very responsive when we needed a new fan, came early the next morning. The condo itself has everything you need. The robes were an extra nice touch. FYI no AC, but with the cool breezes and fans, it was not missed. Only suggestion is fixing the back and front screen door so they are easier to close. Would definitely come back to this property and condo!

Perfect landing spot for Hilo adventures!
The condo was thoughtfully decorated with well curated books and decorations. The view from our patio was amazing, exactly as shown in the photo. We loved the easy walk to the beach and the excellent location in proximity to all of our Hilo adventures. Would visit again!

Cute Condo in Hilo Area
We had a slight bug problem when we first arrived, but the property manager quickly took care of the problem. This was a great location for Volcanoes National Park and downtown Hilo.

Beautiful apt in a beautiful spot!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. We also really loved the turtle sanctuary which is right next door and even got to swim with the turtles one evening! Highly recommended!

Excellent Choice for a Hilo Stay!
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at the loveliness, cleanliness, and security of the condo. It was immediately adjacent to one of many Hawaii County Beach Parks, perfect for morning swims and snorkels. It was also close to other nearby County Parks and restaurants. It was not within walking distance of any grocery stores or shopping but a short drive away. We planned for those activities when we left for adventures outside of Hilo. The kitchen was very well stocked and there was a perfect compliment of needed accessories for those traveling on a vacation: cooler, snorkel gear, beach towels, etc. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat! Thank you!

Amazing location next to protected swimming area with sea turtles
This is a nice condo with a private terrace with a jungle and ocean view. It's quiet and we can hear the wonderful ocean waves. We were able to walk right from the condo through jungle paths to the beach. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is adequate. There is a great local favorite restaurant across the street called Seaside so that is super convenient!

Amazing condo
This condo is very well done and was perfect for us. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. Fresh flowers on the table, updated nicely and very clean. Kitchen is well stocked with matching plates and silverware. This is a well taken care of unit and very relaxing to sit on the lanai overlooking the water. We enjoyed the quiet and relaxing time here, the geckos on the lanai and snorkeling right out the back door. Did I mention the turtles? And the elevator was a huge plus in getting luggage and groceries in. We love this place and definitely recommend it!
