Great location and view. Home could use a little bit of love.

Kitchen needs upgrade… everything. View was great. Service Fee is outrageous
We clean windows (outside)

I rated this house 3 stars for the view and how spacious it was.
Bring all of your cleaning supplies. I feel bad for the owners if they are paying someone to clean here. It would be a great place if it wasn't so grimy. Keep your shoes on in the house because nobody sweeps, vacuums or mops the floor. Bring a friend to help peel you off the sticky dining chairs! The view is incredible but you will need to wipe the previous guests handprints and dogs snot from the windows to see it.

The location is amazing - boat launch is literally next door. The house has a nice layout that worked for our 3 generation family but it was built in the early '70s & is definitely in need of some repairs. The huge sliding door was difficult to open and close as it's so old. Windows in the living room are wood-trimmed & the trim is dusty and had cobwebs. This isn't the type of house a general cleaning company could come in and clean in a couple of hours - it's in need of a really deep clean. There were a few pieces of newer outdoor furniture on the deck but old, rickety plastic chairs were also there so we had enough places to sit but not very comfortably. The bathroom lighting upstairs has sconces by the mirror over the sink but the other light didn't work so showering at night was pretty dark. There's 3 trash cans outside but nothing was labeled for recycling so we weren't sure how to separate trash from recycling. The house worked well for us but it really is in need of some extra care. It must have been a lovely house back in the day!

Great location right next to the Hunter Bay boat dock. In need of updates, but very comfortable.

We arrived to a bat flying throughout the house, dirty surfaces, dust bunnies throughout, broken and missing outlet covers, a kitchen lacking basic pots and dishwasher detergent, a sliding door that was inoperable, rotting outdoor furniture, a hole in the bathroom ceiling (where the bats came in, as evidenced by the bat droppings throughout that room and dripping out of the bath fan), missing trim, missing light bulbs, ancient appliances, a bathroom without tile grout and with detached tile, and rotting siding.
When I called the management company to have even the basic issues addressed, the Lopez manager for the company started laughing maniacally, said I was trying to blackmail him, and hung up on me. The national office for the company sent a repair person who greased the sliding door (it worked for the next few hours, so that's something), replaced the broken outlet covers (while leaving the broken pieces on the floor), and taped the most egregious holes in the bat-access area.
Then, I began receiving text messages from people within the management company trying to get me to say that they as individuals were not the person who hung up on me, seemingly trying to cover their own butts. This is not exactly how I wanted to spend my vacation.
On our final morning, we awoke to a bat on the floor of the living room, not dead but not well. The company said they were shutting down the house to do some basic maintenance. I wouldn't hold my breath.
The location is magical.

We had a great short getaway and enjoyed sitting in the living room and outside watching otters, seals and boats pass by. This property is somewhat cheaper than some other comparable properties on Lopez and there is a reason, as indicated by many other reviewers. The home has generally not been updated much at all since it was built, so everything creaks and groans. For some strange reason, we found that most of the crockery had not been cleaned properly, so we had to clean it all off as we used it. The property management company were highly apologetic for this and offered to send somebody over to resolve it.

Beach access, otters, eagles and friendly people all around. House is older but fit us well. Plenty of space to fit 6-8 people comfortably. Nice selection of towels and plenty of pillows and blankets.
Bring garage bags, foil or parchment paper if you are planning on being at the house and cooking.

loved the location, but the home needs update to make wiring and aging appliances and decking safer.

House was as advertised. Our second stay at this property and we will return.

The view was amazing, however the house had a running toilet that ran every 75 seconds 24/7. The glass sliding door was difficult to move, kept going off the tracks and didn’t close all the way, which felt unsafe. The downstairs bedroom space heater had a broken knob which made it difficult to control temperature. I did report all of these items to VaCasa as well. I’d sure appreciate a free night or a credit for some of the fees that get charged.

It was fantastic! There is no wifi here, but you could sit and watch the water all day and it'd be a day well spent. The views are fantastic and Lopez Island has everything you need less than 20 minutes away.

The house is great--very clean, nicely furnished. The view is absolutely stunning. We are long-time visitors to Lopez Island so we know our way around. If you don't, this location may feel a bit isolated.

It's accurate to say that the whole purpose of staying in this home was the view. It was heavenly. It was so quiet there. The house was built in 1970 and has never been touched since. It had no garbage bag. The dishes weren't very well either. We'd stay there again, even if it was so dilapidated

Everything was great! Thanks for hosting us.

First of all, let me say, the location is lovely if you want a laid-back vacation experience. The house is the problem it is not clean, it smells, there are carpets in a dog friendly house, that I would never recommend, and they are all stained. The kitchen and the entire house is like some thing from the 80s and has not been updated. The upstairs bathroom has been updated but there is not even a holder for the toilet paper! there is a lovely deck with a rail that is rotting and dangerous. Someone could get very hurt if they placed too much weight on it. The view deck has crappy furniture, plastic chairs, and wire chairs that are not comfortable. This house could’ve been so much more with such a much more enjoyable experience! it is obvious the owners are taking all the money from the rentals and keeping it instead of putting a bit back into it to update the house and make it more comfortable and promote it more enjoyable experience. Very disappointed would not rent this property again.

A fabulous setting and a stunning house when it was built in the 1970s. But apparently no updates of the home or the furnishings have been made in over 30 years and sadly this once lovely home is in bad shape.
On the positive side:
• The view is great, as nice as any you’ll find on Lopez, which has innumerable view properties.
• The main room with its soaring windows is lovely and takes full advantage of the view.
• The big old leather couches are comfy and a nice vibe.
• There are lots and lots of great towels and many pretty quilts.
• The house is spacious and well laid out.
• There’s a large deck overlooking the beach and the bay.
• It’s a waterfront home on Lopez Island—can’t beat that!
But for us these were overpowered by the negatives. Major ones:
• The door lock is faulty. When we first arrived it let us in, but the second couple to arrive couldn’t make it work. Luckily we were already there and let them in. I notified Vacasa by email, text and phone but didn’t hear back until 9:40 pm. They said it was a user problem and we were given a new code. It also worked only some of the time and one day we had to climb in the window.
• The heavy glass shower door in the primary bathroom was stuck and fell off the track when I tried to open it. No injuries, but it was alarming.
• The outdoor furniture is old and wrecked. It needs to go to the dump and be replaced. Bring your own chairs as we did having read comments about this.
Less critical issues:
• Primary bathroom sink

All about the view of Hunters Bay, with Orcas rising in the distance, and easy access to the water from the dock. We enjoyed kayaking around the bay and taking in the view from the deck (in camping chairs that we brought). The house itself is rustic and bare bones. A good structure, but with dated finishes and furniture, worn out and stained couches and chairs, a rusted and warped indoor card table used outdoors, etc. They need to replace ripped window and door screens throughout the house. Coffee pot had old coffee grounds in it when we arrived. No internet/wifi and spotty cell reception, so you will truly be unplugging! We enjoyed the stay and the house is basically as advertised, but has not been updated in the last couple decades.

We were out by 9:30am, did not notice digital checkout until 1:45pm. Not cleaned: stove top, pull out cutting board, whole deck and rail. Bath heater lights not working. Lots of switches - could be labeled. Upper left bedroom very hot - could not find control, we turned off at breaker. Deck top rail rotting. Skylights and gutters filled with debris, could cause roof damage. Electrical outlet no cover plate exposes wires. All this said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. These safety suggestions will prolong the viability of this unique place so we can come back in the future!

We came for a relaxing weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday. Loved the view from the house, the quiet neighborhood and beach. My only cons would be that the jacuzzi jets didn’t work, the oven was very hard to get the heat right, and I spent 30 minutes trying to figure out the coffee maker. Overall we liked it and plan to come back with the family.

Beautiful view and good price. However, the house is not well maintained- gutters are overflowing, there is evidence of water damage underneath the sink, and the floors were dirty. We were all stuffed up the entire time but cleared up once we got back home - I wouldn’t be surprised if there was mold.
Additionally, there were a couple things that would have been nice to have: 1) window coverings because our dog likes to bark at its reflection and to have some privacy and 2) Keurig pods. There is a reusable Keurig pod but it makes terrible coffee and you have to bring your own espresso ground coffee, and there isn’t a regular coffee machine to use instead. Make sure to bring your own Keurig pods or a French press.

We loved the location. House lighting, was a bit of a mystery. Very Dim in Kitchen. After buying local Coffee, we were unable to find Coffee maker, found the Carafe though. The Khureg system does not work well with Fresh ground Coffee. Not clear why we would pay a cleaning fee and it still be recommended that Laundry be done should we have time. Home has Maintenance issues ? Some things were kinda unsettling, plug ins and lighting for sure...Great location but for about $1200 for 3 days, not sure is was the best bang for our buck. I received a TEX aprox "1 hour"after we arrived asking about our stay, etc. - "very odd..."

It was a beautiful house. Very spacious. We reached pretty late at night but found the house very comfortable. All the basic amenities were in place. House has wonderful views to offer. We went kayaking and were pleasantly surprised to have sea lions accompany our boat. Very joyous experience. Issue is lack of Internet and cable options. We confirmed this with the helpline that this unit does not have these amenities

The view and location is beautiful but the the house needs a lot of help. The house was dirty when we got there. I swept floors and vacuumed. The silverware had to be rewashed because there was food stuck to them. Went to air the house and 1/2 the screens in the house are broken, which let bees and mosquitoes in the house. So we could only use some windows to prevent the bugs from coming in the house. The screen door is very hard to shut and does not lock. The toilet seat upstairs is broken and there are cobb webs all over the ceiling in the upstairs bathroom. The house is not maintained. For the price we paid to use this house it was not worth it.

Really enjoyed staying here, was big and spacious andnpretty convenient. So nice to be so close to the water and dock in a quiet area that still got some activity with the dock but ultimately had a lot of privacy. House warmed up quick and bathtub was enjoyable though we couldn’t figure out the jets. Very nice stay and great getaway to unplug a little. Even w no wifi, cell service was strong and the dvd selections and board games kept us entertained. Would definitely come back!

We have stayed here twice before and my girls just adore the private beach. We came this year during thanksgiving week because we lost my grandmother in May. Thanksgiving was her big holiday so we decided to go somewhere we love and do something different. We were able to have my brother and his wife and kids come up for the day and we took them to some of our favorite spots on the island. The kids loved it and so did my brother and sister in law. Thank you for providing this lovely space to us.

There are harbor seals and otters in the backyard, herons that will have breakfast with you on the deck and beautiful sunsets framed by massive windows. The home is just lovely and is a treasure for kayakers with the small quiet beach and dock right out back.

Not thorough cleaning of areas with very thick dust/dirt, electrical issue in bedroom outlet (fried our phone charger) outlets very dangerous throughout house!! Definitely needs lots work in and outside the property! Outside landscape not taken care of as well as deck areas, very unsafe due to rotting of wood!

This property is located next to a public boat launch. There is constant activity with people launching and retrieving boats.
Most interesting was the passenger only ferry and oil truck ferry. The both arrived at this small boat launch. The oil truck ferry unloaded a full sized tanker truck. Amazing.

The view of the house is amazing but the property was not cleaned in advance. Some beds had dirty sheets from the previous visitors, the table was dirty and chairs in the terrace old and in a very bad shape. The view is outstanding, hopefully they can work on cleaning well before visitors come.

The home is right off the water as described, but is not well maintained or updated. As a first impression, the front door is damaged like a bear has tried to get in. Once inside, it looks as if years have passed since the last good clean. There was food caked on to the cooktop, thick dust in the ceiling fan, dusty cobwebs in the window panes and the skylights need to be brushed of pine needles. The patio table had at least a season of grime. The house has all the necessities, but bring wipes and elbow grease! On the flip side, comfortable seating, spacious dining room and lovely that the hosts left bottled water in the fridge. We had a great time but would think twice about coming back here.

Location great, cleanliness a problem
The house is nice inside and the view is killer. It was fun to watch all the boats coming in and out at the dock outside. Kitchen had enough dishes and pots and pans for cooking for the 6 of us, contrary to previous reviews. The house was very dirty however.

The house met our needs well and the view was amazing!

Great location!! Great for kids.
The dock and beach right in front of the house.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the view. We were all very comfortable.
The house had mostly everything we needed but there were some oversights that were a bit annoying. There were no cleaning products in the house other than a few laundry detergent packs and some dishwasher packs. There wasn’t enough toilet paper and paper towels. And there was only 2 dish towels. So we had to go buy cleaning and household supplies and do a lot of laundry so we could reuse the towels.
The house was also really dirty. There didn’t appear to be “COVID” cleaning protocols in place. It was really dusty, the floors were dirty (not swept or mopped), and there were cobwebs hanging off of walls, cabinets, stairs, etc. The gutters were in terrible shape and the rain from the roof would just dump on us when we left the house. It also caused a constant waterfall that was loud enough to make it difficult to ignore while trying to sleep.
All the equipment/appliances were functioning which was great! It was very quiet there and we got the nice, relaxing weekend we were looking for. We would consider staying here again but cleanliness was definitely an issue for us.

The house was perfectly situated on the beach with the dock access. We have a sailboat so it came in handy! House was nice and spacious, could use some basic kitchen necessities like aluminum foil, Saran Wrap, ziplock bags. Or at least state that we need to bring those items. The electrical outlet to the right of the sink trips a lot as well. Can’t make coffee and toast at the same time.
Also, agreeing with most other reviews that the house could be cleaned a lot better. Under the beds and cabinets are a lot of dust bunnies.
Otherwise we enjoyed our time there.

We found everything to be appropriately clean, contrary to some other reviews. The kitchen was well stocked. We were prepared to be off grid but we had cell service. The view is beautiful.
