Über diese cottageUnterkunft
Beautiful Lake Erie Lake Front Property

The home has a 5 star view, no doubt. The primary living space and outdoor spaces have a lot of charm. The owner is very friendly and hospitable.
The home is old and some upgrades might make guests more comfortable. In particular, the bathrooms would be wonderful if fully tiled, perhaps a river stone tile or something similarly rustic. As it stands, the wood finishing is water damaged. The floor tile work is kinda shabby linoleum. Replacing the tub in the master with a walk-in shower would be amazing.
There is no television and the internet is little shaky. I suppose that could be considered a positive as it encouraged us to play family games, however, the Olympics were on and I wish I could have caught the games while I was there.
All in all, we enjoyed our time, mostly we just wished the bathrooms were nicer and that there was a TV available.

Unfortunately, the stay was not as expected. When booking it mentioned a private beach and not until the week leading into check in were we advised that there is no beach. Not too much of a problem, minus the fact that you would have to take a straped ladder down to get into the water, which was not good for swimming. There was also no recommendations provided for beach options instead. There was a significant ant problem in the kitchen and we had to keep everything in our cooler or the fridge to avoid problems. The BBQ provided took some time to get going, which is not a problem, except it was too dirty inside to use without a scraper to clean it. When I emailed David about the concerns for the beach, and asked about a possible discount he offered me to cancel the reservation (which was short notice to try and book anything else for those dates) or to mail me a cheque for $150 to my home address, mixed into a guilt trip email. When I advised David of the concerns with the ants and the BBQ as a heads up for the next guests, I received another email which felt full of guilt again, advising that 800$ was spent earlier in the summer to deal with the ant and mice problem. I was very hopeful for a nice vacation, and while we were still able to enjoy our time together, it was fairly disappointing. The room thats surrounded by the glass doors seems to have not been cleaned for quite some time and we didnt end up spending much time in there. We ended up leaving a day early.

Beautiful place to relax. If you love the outdoors and rustic accommodations, this is the place to stay. Disappointing that the beach wasn’t available due to high water, but this certainly was not the owners fault. The owner was amazing and very attentive to our needs and concerns.

You can't find a better view while staying in the area. Cabin is rustic & unique. Had some great hikes and enjoyed being outside on the different decks, patios and down by the water. Not the easiest trek to get to the water. Steep driveway. No air conditioning - usually not a problem, but there was a heat wave when we were there. Owner was very responsive and informative. Would stay here again.

David very graciously made his cottage available to us much earlier in the season than usual. It was the perfect location to experience the solar eclipse in totality.

Our stay was beyond expectations! The house and the view were extraordinary. Walks on the private beach each evening with the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen were the best way to end our days after sightseeing around Niagara. I hope one day I can return. I’m so thankful David shares his piece of Heaven with others! He was so nice and easy to communicate with. I couldn’t have asked for a better few days to spend celebrating!

We were impressed with everything about the property. It was exactly what our family wanted, anticipated and expected. The views are incredible with an expansive vista of Lake Erie and a setting in the woods. The perfect balance of rustic and cozy with every creature comfort. Private with easy access both to a quiet beach and the beach town.

The views was beyond amazing, exactly what we were looking for and needed. Would definitely book again! The sounds of the wind and waves on the beach was music to our ears. We were able to see a few deers as well around the property. Absolutely stunning! David is a very nice and helpful host!

This is a gem of a property tucked away in the quiet trees along Lake Erie with the lapping waves of the lake that sound like you're next to the ocean.
A perfect and rejuvenating weekend away from life in a wonderful beach side house.
Thank you David for opening your home to us.

We had an amazing few days away at this cottage on Lake Erie. David was so gracious in providing a last-minute place for us to slow down and reconnect before the school year starts up again. The cottage was dated in the best way - simple, cozy, practical and so complimentary of the amazing scenery. We were grateful for the wooded privacy and the large and various spaces to hang out both inside and outside the cottage. We wish we could have stayed longer!

My family (my husband and I and 3 teenaged/young adult kids) had a wonderful, restful week at this cottage on the top of a hill overlooking Lake Erie. The best thing was the expansive view of the lake from the back garden and through the huge windows of the cottage. It was an amazing show, with sunsets every night, a dramatic thunder storm with lightening over the lake one night and constantly changing water and skies. There is a big new deck at the bottom of the stairs, just above the little private beach, which we used every day for relaxing and setting down our things while we swam in the lake. We were able to walk along the beach to an interesting old lighthouse. The cottage is one of the most secluded we have visited, surrounded by beautiful forest, with no other cottages visible. The lake occasionally tosses dead fish onto the beach so we borrowed a shovel to keep the sand clean. We also visited some other great beaches nearby, took a drive to Niagara Falls and hiked on the Niagara River Whirlpool Trail. The location is good for a drive to the wineries around Nigara. We would love to return someday.

I love this area and was delighted with the service and accommodations. Close to amenities and includes a pass for Crystal Beach, which is a great beach if you’re bringing kids.

Up the hill over looking the lake , there is a beautiful cottage with a magical view.
We had such a great end to the summer. The communication with David was easy. We had everything we needed. I wish the beach was accessible . Hopefully next year we can swim right in front of the cottage.

The architecture (glass, doors...) is so thoughtful and makes staying indoors because it’s raining/you’re waiting to start the day/ the day is ending feel like an occasion in its own right. Very relaxing and secluded.
It is an older cottage so your expectations should align with that! Well maintained and comfortable though :)
Really enjoyed the rocky waters and exploring local beaches.
Would book again.

We brought our family of 4 and small dog to this property for a long weekend as part of visiting Niagara Falls (about a 30-40 minute drive). The locations is absolutely gorgeous... the pictures do not do the views justice. The beach is private and wonderful and unlike what I was expecting for Lake Erie. The cabin itself is a bit dated, lighting was limited and there was no television... but these things added to it's unique charm in many ways. The house has a lot of character and more than enough room for a family or group to relax comfortably. Owner was extremely conscientious, courteous and responsive. Would love to return!

We loved our stay here. The house is beautifully located in the woods (very private) but then 82 steps (yes, I counted) down to your very own private beach - during our week we saw maybe 5-6 people walking by. The water was unusually high this year, so the beach was a little small, but you could take a nice short walk to the lighthouse, or a nice long walk the other direction. The house has amazing wall to ceiling windows for a great view of the sunset every night. The house, while a little older, has a ton of charm and everything you need for a simple stay at the beach.
