The house was in the perfect location for our kids to play at the playground and rock hop in the creek. The house has tennis rackets and pickle ball paddles which was also very fun for our fam. The layout worked really well for our fam of 7. It was a wonderful retreat for us.

Great place for our family of 5. 2nd time we have stayed in this home away from home. We love it. Great location in Montreat. We really enjoyed playing pickleball on the courts across the street.

This is a two-story roundhouse sitting far above a quiet street, within less than 5 minutes' walk of Montreat center. It is relatively new and flawlessly maintained, with up-to-date kitchen and bathrooms. The two porches (one open, one comprehensively screened) are a dream come true on warm Montreat summer afternoons.
Everything was spotless during our visit. Communication with Amy was great and we had no issues at either check-in or check-out. We appreciate the great experience and will reserve this house again next time we come back to Montreat.

The Treehouse was a perfect place for our family to spend a week in Montreat. It was right by the amazing park with the stream running through it. We were there several times each day. The house was clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was well-equipped. We have stayed in many Montreat homes, and this is one of our favorites!

We loved our trip to Montreat/Black Mountain and our stay at this property. It was the perfect location for us- close enough to Asheville and tons of family friendly things to do near/around the property itself. We were able to hike nearby and the recreation type center across the street was perfect for our young children in between activities. Our young kids (7, 6, and 4) even played with some local teenagers who were extremely kind. The house was clean, well stocked, and cozy. It was obvious that it is a well cared for family home. Our family of five would like to visit this area in all seasons and we’d love to rent this property again.

We loved our stay in Montreat. The house is very well loved and cared for. The owners have put a lot of thought and detail into their house and it has everything you could need for a great getaway. We had our three children with us (9,7, 3m). Our two older kids were especially excited for the bunk beds and our 3 month stayed comfortably in a pack n' play with my husband and I in the master. My mom stayed with us and had her own room downstairs. My mom is in her 70's so going up two flights of stairs was a little challenging at times for her when unloading and loading the car but overall she did great and was very comfortable. The house has two porches that are really cool with great views. You really feel like you're in a tree house!

We had a great time in the treehouse! Location is unbeatable, easy walk to playground, Lake Susan, etc. even with small children. Comfy beds, updated kitchen and baths, two fantastic porches, lots of games, easy to use thermostat and TVs. We would have loved to stay longer!
As pictured/stated in description, the house is on a sloped lot and there are many steps both outside and in. If accessibility is an issue look elsewhere.

Top House in Montreat
Rare find in Montreat. Completely updated home in perfect location with great porches for relaxation. I was very excited about our week on Montreat and this great house with its central location, and nothing about the house failed to meet my expectations. If it's available, you should rent it. I have stayed in many Montreat houses and this one is at the top.
And it has a great and easy to communicate with host. 5 stars across the board.

Awesome vacation spot for family
This home is perfectly located within Montreat for families! Playground and lake Susan just steps away. Views from top porch were gorgeous. The home is very well stocked, furniture is comfy and the space is even bigger than the pictures show. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back ourselves!

Our family loved spending Thanksgiving week in this wonderful home! The house was everything we hoped for and the location couldn’t have been better. The windows and decks were our favorite part and really added to our enjoyment of the surroundings. We hope to return to this home in the future!

Quick getaway
We visited for a long weekend and loved our time there. The house really does make you feel like you're in the trees. It was clean and well cared for, with everything you'd need in the kitchen, including plastic containers for leftovers. The kids loved the bunk room and the playground across the street was amazing. My mom did take a slip down the stairs one evening - the wood is slippery and that area of the house is a bit dark. She was ok but we were a lot more careful after that. We would love to come back when it's warmer and enjoy the deck and screened porch more. Thanks for having us!

Lovely getaway
This tree house is perfect for a family vacation, but also lends itself to a weekend with a few friends. The fall foliage created a lovely scene outside, while my friends and I enjoyed the warmth of the house and the modern amenities. Very enjoyable visit.

Loved our stay here. Very comfortable, great location, park nearby for the kids and lots of great hikes right in Montreat. Black Mountain and Asheville are great cities nearby with lots of shops and restaurants. We loved our stay here!

Beautiful house in fun location
This home is located across the street from the tennis courts and playground and very close to Lake Susan and the many trailheads throughout Montreat. The home itself is lovely! Very comfortable with two porches, games, great furniture, windows everywhere and a wood burning fireplace in the cozy main room. The kitchen had all the staples we needed to complement our own groceries. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms were really nice. Heated floors in the downstairs bathroom! We loved everything about our stay and will definitely be back. The owner made things easy and communicated with us well. Excellent rental.

Great location!
My family of 4 had a great stay at the treehouse! We love the playground, ducks at Lake Susan and hiking in Montreat all of which was right out the front door! We even saw a black bear behind the house while we were on the screen porch which was amazing! The screen porch is so well stocked with games- it was one of our favorite spots. We will stay here again for sure.
There are so many stairs so I would caution anyone with mobility issues to think twice about this house. I wish that there was a way to access the screen porch from inside other than the through the bunk room. Several nights we were there it was pouring down rain and my husband and I would have loved to sit on the porch after we put the kids down but I wasn’t going to wake up the 2yo or walk down a flight of exterior stairs in driving rain.

Montreat Tree House
We chose this home because it was unique. It was very clean and cozy. The location was perfect. The weather was perfect. We enjoyed walking through the trails and down the sidewalks. Neighbors were friendly. The mountain creek was beautiful and calming. Amy was the perfect host. She made sure we knew what was going on during our stay, she suggested places to eat, and made her self available. All made for a great getaway for 3 best friends.

Beautiful home
We stayed here for a few nights (two families- each with small child under 5). Property looked just as advertised and is even nicer in person. Check in process was smooth and communication with host was friendly and quick response time. Home was equipped with everything you could need (even tin foil!) except for towels and sheets (you can also rent these ahead of time- we chose to bring our own). We didn’t do any laundry but there is a full laundry room. This was ideal set up for families with two kids who could have differing bedtimes since there were 2 bedrooms and a full bath downstairs and another bedroom with in suite upstairs. The 2nd bedroom (with bunkbeds) downstairs did have a door leading to outside deck . There are a lot of stairs in the house For those with mobility issues it could be a challenge. We would stay here again if we were coming to the area. Easy drive to black mountain and Asheville. About an hour to Mount Mitchell. Great playground and creek just around the corner.

Amazing stay!
We loved our stay at the Barclay Treehouse! Our kids loved the games and the screened porch. Our boys really enjoyed the triple bunk in their room. We loved the location and went on a walk around Montreat as a family. We took this trip as a “back to school” relaxing weekend and it was that and more. We all had a great time and the home was absolutely beautiful.

Great House But Was Charged For Smoking and We Did NOT Smoke
Everything was great until I got an extra charge to me card. When I asked about the charge I was informed that the master had to have pillows, curtains and comforter because they smelt like smoke. My family and I followed their rules, but my wife and I were penalized for being smokers. Ridiculous! I would not rent here again.

Perfect location!
I could not have asked for a better place to stay. It was a short visit but we will be back for a longer one to the treehouse! The park was right beside us and it was the coolest place for kids to play. There is a river that runs through and around it. The house had two decks/sitting areas which will be great when we come back for a longer stay and more family. I also appreciate the notes around the house as reminders because it is something I would do. Owner was very responsive if I had any check-out questions as well.

Wonderful mountain retreat
What a wonderful escape in this truly unique mountain home. Everything about Montreat epitomizes the feel of “retreat”, physically, mentally and spiritually. Our family of four loved the “treehouse” feel of this house, playing and watching tennis on the pristine tennis courts across the street, the tasteful decor and well stocked kitchen. Have stayed in many rentals I must say this is one of the nicest and well cared for. The kitchen was stocked with tons of spices, condiments, towels, high quality dishes, pots, pans, etc. We enjoyed sitting out on the decks watching the Montreat College tennis team. Comfy beds and couches. Comveniently close to many trailheads which was great as we hiked or biked every day. Kids also skateboarded and biked on the quiet street out front. A perfect stay in every way!

Great House!
The perfect spot for a getaway with young kids. They loved the park and playing in the stream right next door. The house was very clean and comfortable. The only thing I would change would be to bring my own linens next time. The rental company items left something to be desired. Thanks for having us! We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful home in beautiful setting
The house was absolutely perfect for our family of 5 with room (and beds) to spare. It was very clean and had all of amenities and more than we needed. It definitely feels like an amazing tree house - so much so that my husband and youngest son read books on the staircase which has huge windows and large trees all around! From reservations to check in to our stay and check out, the trip was great. It rained the entire weekend we were there and the new porches were of great use. The owners were very helpful and made sure everything was great during out stay. We look forward to staying again next time we visit the Black Mountain area!

Montreat- What a treat!
Everything was exactly as described. Beautiful neighborhood with great outdoor amenities. The creek is a stone's throw away and is low enough that our 4 yr old and 2 yr old were able to play in it with our help. We enjoyed the tennis courts and Lake Susan(more of a big pond). While there, we were able to make afternoon trips to Boone, Cherokee, and Bryson City. I highly recommend the Great Smoky Railroad. As we are in the middle of a pandemic, it is important to note that we were very happy with the cleanliness of the bedrooms, common room, and kitchen.

Montreat house
The property was just as it was pictured. The town of Montreat and Black Mountain are great little towns. The kids love playing in the stream that is probably 100 feet from the property. You can hear the sound of the running water from the deck. We would stay here again.

Family haven
We were so glad to spend 2 weeks here in Montreat, and the house is great but the neighborhood shines. Clean home great kitchen; we rented sheets and towels which worked really well for us. We swam at the neighborhood pool for a fee, enjoyed tennis every day, spent many hours in the creek, hiked lookout trail which was a quick drive away, and over the days the kids felt more and more at home and independent in this unique camp-like village. It also seems to have a valley microclimate with showers every afternoon. We would come here again and again.
