We really enjoyed this property! Great for 4 teenagers, parents and grandparents! Plenty of room for the 8 of us.

The house itself is a little on the older side and the cleaning company could do a better job but the location of the house is perfect for short walks to the beach and the pool and hot tub were perfect for our family! Overall it was a great stay with a great host!

Very clean, easy to access, the host was very responsive with any questions that we had. Definitely a home away from home, but on the Beach.

We celebrated a family member’s birthday and had a fantastic time. The owner was very kind and accommodating!

We had some difficulty opening the lock box. My husband said sand was an issue in it and I had trouble getting leverage to open it. Lovely home. Spacious. Stayed in a group of 10 including my moody teenage nieces and we could all be separate from each other between the bedrooms, decks, and pool/jacuzzi options or together at the big dining room table. Def would stay again.

Owners were very nice and always responded quickly to all our questions. Bedrooms were smaller then expected but worked for the 13 of us that stayed there. Bathrooms were not the cleanest and a lot of the furniture could of been dusted but that's the cleaning company not the owners. The location was perfect and close to the beach which was perfect for watching the sunrise.

We had a wonderful time. It is a great updated house with a nice view of the ocean from every side. A nice pool and hot tub. We loved the hammocks. A nice grassy area for my fur babies. The beach is a short walking distance. Not too far. I am ready to go back.

Very quiet neighborhood-very close to the beach and the sound. The views were phenomenal…the decks were awesome especially the crows nest! The pool and hot tub were amazing bonuses. The house was spacious, well kept, and we had most cooking necessities. The only issue we had were tiny ants in the kitchen no matter how clean you kept it and with keeping open food in the fridge. (There were ant bait traps but they seemed to just walk past them.) Also when you are outside walking the dog or walking the path to the ocean the mosquitoes will eat everyone up so buy mosquito spray day 1 (nothing Julie can help or do anything about just a warning for those wanting to be outside alot/with little ones/pets) but other than that it was an absolutely amazing trip! Julie I would like to thank you for being such an amazing host and opening your home to us! Would love to rent from you again! =) <3

We loved this house. Lots of bedrooms, a spacious upstairs & a quick jaunt to the beach. We went for a lot of “get the energy out” walks for the kids and the area was quiet & felt safe. The pool was the hit with the kiddos & adults. Our only critique was that we wish linens, bath towels & some “tv room” blankets would have been included. We were aware that they were not with this property and that we could have rented them, but it ended up being a lot of extra things to bring in order to save some money for us being young families. Julie was great to work with and we always had timely responses from her. The views from the upper deck were beaitiful & the deck with the picnic tables was great for kiddo-friendly meals! We would recommend staying at this house!

The house was clean and large enough to accommodate our group of 12 comfortably. There is a beach walking distance but it was a little steep for us so we preferred driving over to the public access beach. We ran into an issue with madhatterashelpinghands not delivering the linens we ordered months prior to our stay but our host helped us get in touch with their new linen service who brought out everything right away. The host here is great. The house is wonderful and has every thing you could need. The pool was very clean and so fun to have.

We had the best time here. Nothing fancy, but everything you need and the location is great!

Great house, exactly as advertised, pictures very accurate! Warm, cozy place close to local attractions and restaurants and a short walk to the beach. Very quiet neighborhood. Crows nest was a wonderful place to watch the sunrise, sunset, watch the waves crash, and look at the very bright night sky! Bedrooms were all very comfortable and had adequate blankets and pillows. Hot tub was great!!! Bathrooms were modern and functional. Living room and dining area were comfy with lots of games and puzzles to enjoy. Kitchen had everything we needed, lots of storage space. A safe, snug beach house that easily accommodated 5 adults, two college freshmen, three teenagers, and a small dog. We had a few minor issues but the owner was extremely responsive and I know she will take quick action on the issues we had. Thanks again for the great stay!!!

Great communication with owners, couple of issues resolved quickly. Great location, 150 yards to the beach thru small sandy walkway. Good layout for family gathering, awesome dining room table- shared so many laughs! Pool clean, hot tub is nice. Mattresses need update.

Overall we had a good stay. I was disappointed with the fact that the pictures made the property seem better than it was. I wasn’t happy with the level of cleanliness. You can tell they do the bare minimum surface cleaning. The lampshades and tops of fans were covered in layers of dust and my allergies were bothering me the whole time because of it. It was hard to keep our food from being infested with ants. Any tiny crumb would be covered in ants. The deck is very rickety and there were a lot of loose boards and nails sticking out. We didn’t go on the very top as it made the whole house shake. The pool fence is also falling apart. The house is located in an ok spot. I expected to be able to view the beach better but there are too many houses in the way and the beach access is a teeny tiny trail overgrown with brush and I ended up getting poison ivy from it so we walked around the long way the rest of the time. Don’t expect to park near the pier either because it’s $15 😬 Overall it was still a nice stay. I had good communication from the owner and it was easy to check in and out. There were lots of games and puzzles there to play as well as cards and such. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans and cups and such. The location is nice and quiet but not a ton to do around the area without driving into NagsHead or Manteo. There is a small shopping area, a few restaurants and an ice cream stand as well as a church with a swing set you can use.

Julie was so great and we love the location. The size of the house was perfect for a family of seven. The pool guy was really nice. Only complaint is whoever cleans the place in between stays really does a poor job but nothing that is not fixable. We would stay again at this place in a heartbeat, wonderful experience.

We have stayed at this house several times and we have loved every trip. The house is always clean but this time it was exceptionally clean. Everyone enjoyed the week. Relaxing in the pool and hot tub after a day at the beach is perfect. The only issue we had was the hot tub running out of chlorine on Thursday so we could not use it Friday but it did not matter. We really loved the house.

We had family from four states meet up for a family reunion in the Outer Banks. The house was perfect! It had enough space for everyone and was close to everything. We loved the pool and hot tub. Thanks for letting us rent your house.

We could not have been more pleased with this location! Super short walk to the beach and super quiet! We had no issues with the property. It was clean and well maintained. The pool was great to have as an alternative to the beach and we had such a good time playing basketball. This area is secluded and definitely not the “commercial” part of the island, which is what we were looking for. I would suggest the lighthouses as a day trip. There is one about 30 mins north or 30 minutes south. We saw both on our visit and they are amazing. We also went to the Wright Brothers memorial which was very interesting. Would definitely recommend the Outer Banks and the Mad Hatteras!!

My family really enjoyed our stay at the Mad Hatteras! The house was clean, check in and out was easy, and the location is great! The house is on a quiet cul-de-sac with a short walk to the beach and pier. The weather was great. The last day of our vacation was rained out, but there were plenty of games to entertain us for the day. We could not have asked for a better experience!

This property was perfect for family members I selected to stay in this house. The layout for beds and bedrooms was perfect. The access to beach and the pool and hot tub were great benefits. Loved the location for OBX activities. The home was comfortable and the views were awesome. Thank you to Vrbo and the property owner for providing such a great beach houses.

This house allowed our family to gather from three different states for a wonderfully relaxing time. From our senior grandparents to the now-adult grandchildren, this house accommodated the 10 of us magnificently. Having a bedroom on the main floor with the kitchen was a godsend for my wife's elderly parents, and we could usually find an open bathroom among the three available. Beside the large pool for bathing, having the hot tub up on the deck with the bedrooms made it easy to relax into the evening. It's proximity to the beach was great, especially in an area that wasn't very busy even though all houses were occupied. When we come back to the Outer Banks, the tranquility of Rodanthe will certainly play into our choice of lodging. Our host was very responsive and made sure our visit was as problem-free as possible, and certainly made us feel welcome. With plenty of space in the house and on the deck, this house can fit your families, too.

Great house , location and weather!!!

Our group had a fantastic stay at this place! We could see the ocean from all sides of the home! It was an easy walk to the beach, yet also far enough back that we had more privacy. Loved the hot tub, the pool, the beds, and the common areas - and what really clinched it for me was the hot outdoor shower, so when i came back from the beach all sandy & salty, i didn't have to suffer a cold outdoor shower to clean up!This was our first time at the Outer Banks, and this was a gorgeous spot. I finally see what the hoopla is all about!We also brought a Britta filter like other reviewers had suggested. Appreciate everything and truly hope to visit again!

This was our first visit to the Outer Banks. We enjoyed working with the owner and the house was comfortable and quiet. There were a few minor issues with lights that didn’t work etc but overall a nice trip. The hot tub was great and the information provided by the owner for restaurants, grocery stores was very helpful. Our kids enjoyed going to Waterman’s for dinner and to watch the kite boarders- great spot! The fishing pier was very close and perfect for my 10 year old who wanted to fish for an hour and go back to them house without making a day-long event. The owner was also flexible when we had to move our dates around after our original dates needed to be moved.

We thought the house was great and enjoyed the location so close to Kitty Hawk Kites watersports where we rented some wetsuits and watched some kite surfing. The beach was close by, but note there is not much beach (if any) right where you enter if it is high tide. The beds were comfortable. The carpet on the first floor has quite a few stains. The kids enjoyed the hot tub. We recommend Lisa's pizza which is very close by. We brought a Brita filter pitcher since the tap water has a noticeable chlorine taste., which we expected for a beach house. I gave it less than 5 stars for checkin because we had to wait until 2 hours after check in for the cleaning person to finish up. I gave it 4 stars for location and neighborhood only because it would have been nice to have more walkable/bike rideable size to the neighborhood the house was in -- so its a preference thing. If you want to take a long walk that is not on the beach then you have to walk along the main busy road through town.

The home was absolutely wonderful. Communication with the homeowner was great, and it was a very easy check in and check out process. There was plenty of room for everyone, everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided and the house was very clean. The location to the beach was amazing, it was awesome to be able to sit on the decks and hear the waves. Our intention was to be able to have a get away without having to be out in public too much, and we were definitely able to do that. This was my family's first time in Outer Banks and we will definitely be back.

We enjoyed our trip to the Mad Hatteras! The home was clean, spacious and the pool/jacuzzi were so much fun! The walk to the beach was super quick. The owners of the home went above and beyond to make sure we had what we needed during our stay. I've stayed in several VRBO's before, but Julie is by far the best owner we have ever rented from. We plan on returning to the Mad Hatteras!!

This housed was perfect for our family of 7 adults and one infant. The house was just right and provided space for everyone and everything we needed. It was an easy walk to the beach - about five minutes. The hot tub and pool were great to have. Julie made all of our arrangements as easy as possible. A great place to stay!
