Bear Paw Lodge provides everything you can dream of for your family holiday! But the extra little things that are there that you don’t expect like boxes full of indoor and outdoor games and bicycles of all sizes as well as most household soaps and spices speaks of a very thoughtful and gracious host. It is a real pity we only booked one week!

It was a nice place for families. Lots of kid things to do at the house while the parents are taking a break ;)

We gad a great stay. Private and accessible! Awkward third bedroom upstairs had to go through another bedroom to access bathroom or main area. Did have a great time!

Very simply, this is just a fantastic place to stay, unless you’re looking for a downtown Banff experience with the masses encroaching on you from all sides. The website offers an honest look at the house and It’s surroundings. We originally booked thinking we would have a family of 10, but it only ended up with six of us. However, the house has beds for 10 people, and the kitchen has more pans and utensils than our own house.
I have rented many places, and this one ranks at the very top. The owners were exceptional with their constant communication and always available with sound advice and suggestions. As the website says there is a couple on-site, but they literally are invisible. The one time we met the couple they were friendly and helpful. We had a slight glitch with the hot tub, and it was immediately taken care of. At first, we thought the house might be a little too far outside of Golden , but found the 12 minute ride was no imposition at all. If you are activities and national park oriented, Golden offers a great central location,
You ‘ve got a good chance of seeing wildlife, and the view and peace and quiet we’re just what we were looking for. If you got young kids they have space to play as there is there an abundance well maintained lawn, and her teenage grandchildren played soccer volleyball on a nightly basis.
If you get a chance to rent this place, you will have no regrets. Enjoy

We had a wonderful stay at Bear Paw Lodge. The house was super comfortable for our party of 10 (6 adults, 4 kids ages 2-7). We saw wildlife every day (even a bear!), loved the hot tub, were amazed by the mountain views, and enjoyed exploring the area. Great base! Bring your bug spray for the evenings!

After a 2 year pause thanks to Covid, we decided to do a repeat stay at Bear Paw Lodge. Super comfortable stay for 10 adults. Great location with easy access to a lot of activities in and around Golden. The large property was well kept, and set up for whatever outdoor activities we wanted to do. We spent a lot of time on the nice sized deck in the hot summer sun during the day and cool evenings in the beautiful silence of the Rockies. The on site managers were very respectful, polite and accommodating. Another great week at Bear Paw Lodge!

Perfect Place
We absolutely loved Bear Paw Lodge! It’s secluded and quiet and was the perfect base camp for all of our family adventures. The house had everything we needed and the kids loved playing badminton and soaking in the hot tub. Jim was so helpful with suggestions on things to do. Next time we come to BC we know where we’ll be staying!

Excellent family getaway
We really enjoyed our stay at Bear Paw Lodge. It was an easy driving distance to a lot of great attractions and also a great place to just stay in and relax on a rainy day. I would definitely go again!

Beautiful Mountain Retreat
My family of 4 stayed here for a week and had a great time.
I was geared up to give this place a 4 star review on account of the description not being completely transparent about the house/grounds keeper living in a basement suite attached to the house. Upon finding that out (it is in the description but it's not 100% clear you're sharing a house) I was fairly disappointed, however the people in the basement suite keep out of the way so it wasn't an issue at all. However, if you're looking for a 'whole home to yourself' type rental this isn't technically it.
Now, why I upped my review back to a 5 is because this house is beautiful. The grounds are massive, the house is fully stocked for everything you could want to do (games, sports equipment, bikes, everything!) and the surrounding area is awesome. Tons of hikes (all VERY well documented in a binder at the house) nearby. Nature is at your door step, literally. There was a family of deer living in the yard that we watched every morning.
Overall this place is awesome, the ONLY thing that was an issue was the WiFi router. The internet connection is fine but they need to replace their router, I let the owner know and he's going to get it replaced.
We stayed in summer but this place would be great to hole up in during the winter and its only about 30mins from Kicking Horse!
Stay here, it's great.

Great base for exploring Rockies.
Spent a week exploring the Rockies with no some friends. The house was a great spot to come back to after a full day of hiking. We cooked on the open fire, soothed our muscles in the hot tub and sat around the kitchen table sharing meals and playing cards into the night. Remote location made it easy to get off the grid but still close enough to groceries and other amenities. The house had tons of games and toys to keep kids entertained.

Time flies when you are having fun!
Excellent property for the perfect family vacation! Location was great! We got simple and easy directions to find the lodge. Our stay was private, quiet and relaxing. Renting was a breeze. Owners provided great suggestions for things to see and do. Check in and check out were effortless.

Ski Trip
There are 8 of us who get together each March for a skiing holiday. This was the perfect place and ideal location for accessing the many ski resorts in the area. Would definitely stay here again.

Awesome.
We very well enjoyed our week at the cabin. Had everything we needed and more. Cozy, comfortable, and well distributed. My 5 brothers and I had a wonderful time in the Golden area.

Location Location Location
Exactly what our small group was looking for. Rural location with excellent access to town (Golden), but far enough from town to feel isolated (private!). Great house, loved the yard and hot tub!

Wish I could stay and not go home
We’ve stayed as a family at a lot of AirBnBs and VRBOs and simply put this one takes the crown! Extremely well cared for home with amazing attention to detail for the comfort of the guests. Owners are very responsive. Setting is amazing! BC is a long way from Tennessee, but we’ll definitely try to come back!

Perfect
A large, well equipped and spotlessly clean lodge situated in the Blaeberry Valley, approximately 15 minute drive from Golden, BC.
Comfortable beds, quality linens and everything works.
The view of the mountains are spectacular, it is called Bear Paw for a reason, one evening we had a Black Bear snacking on berries from the trees bordering the lodge.
Johnson & Meenu the house keepers are friendly and very helpful
The property is a credit to the owners on those involved in cleaning and maintaining the lodge, we would return, the next time for much longer.
Do visit the Wolf Centre just minutes from the lodge and try the Firepit smokehouse in Golden.
Thanks Jim and Sherry a pleasure to have stayed at Bear Paw Lodge

Fantastic house!
We spent 10 days in this lovely house. There was plenty of room for the seven of us inside, and enough room for an army in the huge garden! The house was well situated for trips to the National Parks, and the hot tub and BBQ were well used on our return each day. A really peaceful place, with sensational views.

Best view in Blaeberry Valley
We really enjoyed our visit to Golden and Blaeberry Valley. The views from the house were stunning! Definitely the best views in the area! The hot tub was so relaxing after a long day of hiking through the beautiful trails. If we're able to come back to the area, we would definitely want to stay here again. Thanks so much for sharing your house with us and for all the hospitality!

Canadian Rockies vacation
The house is absolutely wonderful, my family used the mountain bikes every evening to ride to the Blaeberry river,a beautiful spot. They used the horseshoe’s and frisbee as well. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, the view from the house is unbelievable, such a beautiful spot. We traveled from the house to visit, Banff and Yoho parks. We did a whitewater rafting trip that was awesome, but the water is very cold. We would definitely recommend this home.

Beautiful location but smoke from fires spoiled our stay
There is no doubt that the location of this property is stunning. I would advise anyone going in the summer time to do their homework around the smoke in BC before they book. It ruined our stay. Whilst obviously this has nothing to do with the house it’s a lot of money to spend to not be able to see the mountains and not be able to use the garden because the smoke was so thick. No-one would want their children outside playing in that. Out of the 4 days were had there two were ok. One we had ash coming down on us when we sat outside. I did contact the owner before and after our stay to raise my concerns and he’s very polite but no partial refund was given. Luckily the house has air con so the smoke smell doesn’t permeate the house.
We found the beds uncomfortable and were told that was the first complaint he’d had about that.
Overall we would have had a much better time if we could have enjoyed the house in all its glory but we simply couldn’t. The yard is beautiful and we managed to play the outdoor games one day. There is also a beautiful fire pit outside that we could not use.
Our complaint was taken very seriously by the owner and he said he would look into everything and I do believe he will. However we spent $2300 on a four night stay that was ruined. I get that the smoke is out of everyone’s control but when you can’t use a property to it’s full potential I believe an option should be to cancel your stay before you set off or a reduced price offered.

Wonderful Views - Lots of summer entertainment - great owners
I've stayed in 15-20 VRBO rentals over the years. This was by far the nicest owners. They have provided a lot of entertainment at the house for their guests. Badminton, Volleyball, Horseshoes, Hot Tub, Lots of board games inside, bikes.... and I know I'm still leaving things out. You are about 1 hour from Lake Louise and 1.5 hours from Radium Hot Springs. Plus you have Mountains all around you! The house was also well furnished!
Beds were very comfortable, and the in built in Humidifier was much appreciated!
Really couldn't say anything negative about the place!

Great property and location
The house has all the amenities you need but more importantly for us has the feel of a home rather than a rental. Very comfortable with great outdoor space and a proper in ground fire pit which we used whilst the snow was falling. The location is remote but the surrounding area is stunning in the snow and we would return without hesitation. Highly recommended

This property is absolutely brilliant, it is perfect in every way possible, we loved it!
A piece of paradise set in a truly amazing setting, this property is total perfection and we wish we could have stayed forever. The home itself is of an extremely high standard and has everything you could possibly need during your stay. The views are so gorgeous, total peace and tranquility surrounded by mother nature's finest, breath taking offerings. This home and it's location would have to be our very favourite out of all the places we have ever stayed, we are already planning a return trip. The caretakers are absolutely lovely people, the owner is helpful and easy to communicate with. We could write all day about how truly fantastic this home and all the people involved in our stay were, we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to experience this for ourselves. Thank you Bear Paw Lodge for giving us such heart warming memories, we will most certainly return!

Wonderful Place to Enjoy!!
Bear Paw Lodge is amazing and so comfortable. Its truly a home away from home. 9 of us had a great time, with plenty of room for everyone. The house is incredibly well equipped and Shannon our caretaker was most accommodating and helpful. The scenic location and privacy of the property make it a real gem. We look forward to next year and another great adventure.

Bear Paw Lodge (Annual Ski trip)
The Lodge itself was amazing, the location is not far from Kicking Horse Mountain at all and it added a little more privacy and tranquility to our trip. The view from the place is outstanding and hard to beat at the end of a long ski day, when you are sitting in a hot tub and staring at the mountains
The Lodge itself is equipped with everything you would need for any trip. From a hot tub, all types of speakers, to storage space and kitchen gear. We were overly impressed with the location and the lodge, the storage space for the skis and the boot drying racks.
The lodge slept 9 people comfortably with the option of using a fold away cot for a 10th person.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be trying to make a reservation for our annual ski trip next year, as well as potentially for our summer getaways.

Best Lodge Around
The Bear Paw Lodge is by far one of the best spots I have stayed. The lodge itself is out on a beautiful property and nestled in the mountains. You have that complete isolation feel, but still close enough to go into town for supplies or go to the ski hill for the day. Walking in the lodge for the first time was a "make yourself at home feel" comfortable bedding and a hot tub out on the back deck. Definitely would recommend this to anyone. Plus Dan the caretaker is a legend and he even let us sign his Harley before we departed!

Family Vacation January 2017
Myself, my Wife, Daughter, her Husband, and our four grandkids stayed at this amazing home away from home. Our grandkids where able to utilize the backyard to injoy there little sleds. We had one of the most amazing views anyone could ever ask for each day and evening while hot tubing. The home was very well set up with 8 of us staying in this home no one ever felt crowded. All kinds of board games that we took the opportunity to use during our R&R time.with each room being equipped with satellite TV the children were able to unwind before bed while in bed, with there favorite TV show. We like this area so much we are looking at our annual January vacation to be at this location. This property comes with a host that is one of a kind. Dan was very knowledgeable about the property and the area. Dan gave us an overall understanding of the sledding throughout Blaeberry and cautioning us on areas of hazard. The one and only thing that disappointed us was we never booked it for a full week. This will change next year for sure.
