It's a lovely house in a great location, very close to the south part of the beach. The large lanai was great, with beautiful views, and we ate all our meals out there. The house is very well maintained, the kitchen has great appliances and everything you could need (one exception: no champagne glasses!), beds are comfy, linens of excellent quality. Plenty of fans & screens meant we never needed the A/C, though I'm sure it's nice to have in the summer. We really appreciated the large yard with loungers, and the fence and gate to the beach being "hidden in plain sight" so we had no concerns about beach goers accidentally wandering in. A few of our favorite things: Kauai shrimp from Da Fish House, chicken pies & mac nut tarts from the Hawaii Tart Company (at Waimea Farmers Market), steak from the Waimea Butcher, local butter from Kohala Grown Market in Hawi, lunch at Bamboo in Hawi, dinner at Napua at sunset, the Arts Co-op in Kapa'au, Nalu Builds in Hilo and, most of all, 2 Papayas' great service. We've booked with them for over a decade and have never been disappointed. Thanks to all of you for another great stay!

We had a great trip. Everything was wonderful. The view to the water was my favorite. I loved having the windows opened and hearing the ocean. We rented a kayak for the week. We rented bikes for the week. We used the kitchen for almost all our meals. The snorkeling from the beach in front was great we saw lots of fish, an octopus and turtles. At night we went out to the rock pools and could see brittle stars and all kinds of stuff. Lots of different kinds of birds. Mary from 2 papayas is great. We didn’t have any issues but she was available if we did. We had a question during our stay and she responded very quickly. I would love to stay again.

I have stayed on 69 Beach before at another place but much prefer this fantastic house. The interiors are updated and the expansive yard gives nice privacy between you and the rest of the beachgoers, of which there can be many since 69 Beach is the best around. The kitchen was better stocked than many vacation rentals I've been in, which is appreciated as you're not going to want to leave for meals. The property manager is top notch ... don't hesitate to book if you're wanting a low-key beach trip with a smaller group.

What a great getaway! Super quiet, private home steps from the beach. The well-designed rooms with deep eaves and the lanai, and ceiling fans throughout kept it cool enough that we didn't need the AC. The kitchen has just about everything you need. But really, the star of the show is the beach right through the gate!

Thank you so much for opening your home to our family. We have stayed in a lot of rentals and this is now one our families favorites on the Kohala Coast. The outdoor dining area was a great place to eat and hang out when we weren't on beach. We loved that we had a view of the ocean from the house yet the landscaping gave us privacy from the public beach. The beach is just beyond the yard, accessed from a little gate in the yard. The beach is nice and sandy with shady trees and wonderful snorkeling. I highly recommend this property for vacationers to the island.

Perfect place to stay on the Big Island! Easy walking access to a beautiful white-sand beach right out front of the property. The house itself is charming, spacious and clean, with a great porch for dining outside. Close to shops and other great beaches! Would definitely stay here again! We spent a week at this home and had a wonderful family vacation. The home had everything we could wish for and more. Well stocked kitchen, lovely home, comfortable beds, air-conditioning in the bedrooms which we didn’t need, amazing sunsets and stunning views of Waialea Bay right from the lanai. Beautiful large yard with outdoor shower which we all enjoyed using and just a few steps from your private yard out to the shoreline and sandy beach! Amazing snorkeling, swimming just steps away. Nearby farmers market, fresh fish market, Puako General Store which had just about anything we needed. Thank you to 2 Papayas management . We will defiantly be back.

This review is a bit delayed but after looking at photos of our trip recently, we wanted to share the good news. This was our first time staying at a private home rather than a hotel, so we were a bit leery. However, 2 Papayas, the management company met us at the house to show us around, and familiarize us with the area, the beach and the appliances. The house had just undergone a remodel which was a lovely and comfortable blend of new modern house with the original beach house feel. The windows let in lots of breeze and sunlight; the AC was appreciated one warm night but the rest of the time, we had the windows open so the lovely ocean breezes could waft through the house. The owners have thought of every convenience from the outdoor shower to wash to salt and sand off after a day at the great beach, to king-size beds, fresh, crisp sheets and a kitchen stocked with everything we needed to enjoy meals on the covered ocean side lanai! Every day we swam in the bay more than once, often sighting turtles and manta rays. We will be back and recommend this highly to friends and family.

I can't say enough about our time on Waialea Bay at this home. We are very familiar with the Big Island and this has now become our favorite place to stay. The beach provides endless hours of fun, either just relaxing on the sand or snorkeling around. The bay was nice and calm so paddle boarding or kayaking is easy from the shore. The rental had everything we needed to make meals at home and even grill local fish from 'Da Fish House'. It really felt like home away from home. I am going to recommend this property to all of our friends and family. 2Papayas was also a pleasure to work with and made everything easy. We are looking forward to our next stay!

The beach is amazing, absolutely heavenly snorkeling. The home management company was condescending at best and really quite rude. They unfortunately manage quite a few homes on this beach but there are alternatives and we will seek them. As for the House the downstairs is dank and lots of bugs, the shower backs up. The upstairs is fine though (not fancy but not full of bugs and clean). Great breeze from the ocean where up the hill it will be hot at night it's not so here. Watch your things on the beach, lots of theft happening, don't leave anything valuable.

We love this beach (sand, shade, snorkeling) and house, and 2 Papayas is a very responsive property manager. My husband is particularly happy with the cooking gear in the house, and there is a great lanai for meals and lounging. 5 miles away in Kawaihae is a wonderful fish store, next door to the best lunch truck (fish tacos and seared ahi salad). A very relaxing vacation all together.

Condo was great and well maintained. It is an easy trip from airport, easy walk to beach and a short ride to Weimea headquarters to the Parker ranch and great place to shop. I highly recommend 2 Papayas and hope to return.

My family (me, husband, two 3yo boys) stayed at this house and were really excited about it given the reviews. We always use VRBO versus hotel/resort vacations and usually have great success. The experience booking and with 2 Papayas was great, and the location was spectacular. We arrived in the early evening, headed straight to the beach and were greeted by humpback whales flapping their tails in the water on the horizon. The beach was mostly sand with some rocks. Not good for small kid swimming really but they had a great time playing in the sand. It rained for most of our stay, but it was really nice to be so close to the beach to capture the windows of sunshine. The real problem was the house itself. We had planned on putting our kids in the downstairs bedroom but upon arrival noticed that there were carpets of ants on the floor (and some crawling on the bed). The ants got progressively worse throughout the week, to the point where we didn't even want to use the shower down there. So, we put the kids on the floor in our bedroom and two days in I got stung by a scorpion about two feet from where we had them sleeping. Because the floors and walls are all very dark wood, we were constantly living in fear of bugs. We were warned that there might be some mouse activity but kept doors shut/food in the fridge and never saw signs of them. It felt a little bit dirty around the edges in general - grime and dirt built up in cracks between fridge and counter, behind the couch, etc. The only last minor comment is that the living room area only had one couch and a couple of uncomfortable chairs so there wasn't much of an opportunity for lounging around as a family with the exception of the table. I think and hope this is probably an uncommon experience with the insects, but I wanted to share. On the contrary, we had some friends staying at a 2 Papayas rental (twice as expensive) in Puako during the same week and their house was lovely and very clean.
