This was the perfect place for our family weekend!

This house worked great for our large family. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. We slept with the windows open and the area was very quiet… so many stars too! The kids loved playing down at the lake.

We had a wonderful time with our family. The house was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. The outside fireplace was awesome, enjoyed our evenings there very much. The ping pong table was a hit with both kids and adults. The pontoon we rented from Lake Fun Rentals was great, enjoyed very much. Would highly recommend and hope to get back again.

Everything met or exceeded expectations. Lake level was low but can’t hold owners responsible for that!

This quiet, relaxing property was perfect for a get-a-way with friends! The view is amazing and the fireplace is so unique. Great hosts! We would stay here again!

Nice, quiet clean place to stay. Lake was very clear by the dock. Loved the fireplace but would be nice to have a fire pit down by the lake area to sit around.

The property was perfect, everything you need for a getaway. Lots of space, indoors and out and water toys. Kitchen and linens are well stocked. The owner was very helpful.

We had a great stay here! We loved the bedroom set-up for our family. We had two large rooms upstairs so the six of us (4 small children) slept upstairs while my parents and brother had their two rooms on the main floor. The main downside upstairs was that it was rather warm most of our stay because the AC doesn’t flow through vents upstairs. They gave us fans so we opened windows and had the fans running at night and during naps. Despite it being warm it would have been nice to have comforters in the rooms and not just the light bedding provided. The people who stayed on the main floor were cold because the AC worked well. Otherwise, the kitchen was well supplied with cooking utensils and pots and pans, dishes, etc for meals and the bathroom had plenty of towels for our family. We spent a lot of time Hanging out in the porch and outside fishing and swimming. The outdoor fireplace was great too. My three year old son caught ten fish over the week fishing off the dock with grandpa. Our three year old daughter spent a lot of time swimming. We brought our kayaks and it was a Great Lake to explore with not much activity when I would go out. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely go back again. The owners were great and helpful too.

This property was a great, secluded, comfortable get away! Lake was quiet most of the time. Grandkids liked seeing and catching fish off of the dock. Plenty of room for 10 of us. Ken was a great host!!

We had a great week! The house was clean and provided a lot of space for everyone to gather. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, all the dishes we needed. The outdoor fireplace was amazing and the lake was clean. We enjoyed using the canoe and the paddle boat. The owners were gracious and answered any questions we had. Would definitely stay here again!

A Wonderful Place! Fantastic location, tucked back behind the island to stay quiet. The beach/swimming area was perfectly groomed and the kids loved jumping off the dock. Sun room was a great addition, perfect for cool mornings drinking coffee! Wood fire cooking...just wow! Definitely a place to unwind and relax. Thanks Ken and Joan!

We loved the cabin! Quiet, perfectly appointed, wonderful outdoor fireplace, screened porch and great swimming area. Water was cool and clean. My honey caught 11 panfish off the dock in the first hour! We saw lots of wildlife, ride our bikes on the nearby Paul Bunyan trail and slept like babies. Fantastic!

House is old, but very nice, clean and cozy. Would be good for summer stay. Price is reasonable. Friendly owner. A potential place for our summer get away.

This was our third time staying at the lake home and we continue to have a great family time every time. We spent many hours at the dock and in the water. Did more fishing this year and caught some keeper size pike and sunnies. Also caught and released bass. Campfires almost every night at the stone fire place.

Everything was perfect for our family reunion. Owners were there upon arrival and walked me through the property. We had 12 people ages 1 to 78, and the place suited our family well. The bedroom set up upstairs was ideal for our multi-generational family. The beach/swimming area was perfect, and we appreciated having use of the canoe and paddle boat. It was quiet and secluded, yet close to the conveniences of town. Note that it is a pretty steep hill from the lake to the house, but was doable for all. We will definitely be back!

Very well represented, great amenities for family fun. Owners are fantastic with regard to maintenance, communication, and overall experience and helped us have a great family getaway vacation. The home and property are in great condition, and we took care of it as if it were our own. Calm bay, nice sandy beach for kids, and screened porch where the places that we spent most of our time :-)

This is a nice cabin with great fishing right off the dock. There is no real swim beach, just a small section of sandy shore. We enjoyed the screened porch room, outside fireplace and patio, and back deck overlooking the beautiful lawn and trees. The cabin sits on a clear, small lake with loons and gorgeous sunsets! This rental is not equipped at all for small children under age 4 but it is perfect for adults and older children. There are not enough life preservers provided for the canoe and paddle boat available. The cabin was short on silverware for our group of 10. When we notified Joan, she did bring some additional silverware for us. We were traveling from out of state and communication with the owners was difficult and frustrating as to arrival directions, furnishings available in the cabin, and eventual return of our damage deposit, which took three weeks longer than the contract stated.

Very comfortable and well kept home. We used the patio with outdoor fireplace and grill often. The owners were very attentive to any needs we had. The lake is a little small but the water is very clean, great for kayaking. We would definitely return.

This house was perfect for our 3 families (12 total people)! Everything was there when we arrived, and the house was clean and ready to go. There was plenty of room, and the basement with the ping pong table came in handy on the one rainy day. Our favorite hang out spot was the sun porch, and was perfect for our late night card games. The lake is nice and clear, and the kids loved the swim area. Ken and Joan were great, and were always available when we had questions. I would highly recommend their place to any our friends!

We stayed July 26-August 2 and we love the cabin and its location. We had 8 adults and 5 children under 7 years old and we were very comfortable. The cabin was very clean and the photos on this website are accurate. We all enjoyed the sunroom and outdoor fireplace was great. We burned through a lot of wood and the owners came to chop more for us! The beds are comfortable and the basement has a fun ping pong table and board games to enjoy. The yard down to the beach is steep but manageable. We had fun going out in the paddle boat and the kids loved fishing off the dock and playing in the sand. The Brainerd area has plenty of shopping. We are planning to stay again!

This home was perfect for the week of family fun and relaxation we were looking for. The house was very clean and spacious. The fire pit was perfect for roasting s'mores. The paddle boat and swim area were enjoyed by all. On the one day it rained during our stay, our family made use of the ping pong table and board games located in the house. We also liked the location of the house. You were secluded enough for it to be peaceful, but close enough to town to enjoy some shopping and restaurants the area has to offer. Ken and Joan were very helpful answering any questions that arose. We would definitely rent this place again and will recommend this home to others.

This was an excellent property to stay at for a very reasonable price. All you need to do is show up with groceries. Everything else is provided. The property is very nice inside and out. We had 7 adults and 3 children and still had 1 bed to spare. The outdoor patio area is wonderful. Our children loved the downstairs playroom. We had non-stop fishing action from the dock and out in our boat. The owners were very kind and helpful. The beach area is well kept which was taken full advantage of by our children. I can't say enough about the property and the owners. This was an A++ experience!

Cabin was great. Private, quiet. Lots of ammenities inside and out. Had a great stay. Owner was helpful and considerate.

Lovely lakeside property, amazing outside patio and fire place area. Great location for a family get away. Owners are friendly and helpful. Only down side weak AT&T phone service and no wireless service. If you don't need, it this is the place for you.

The minute we walked in the door we were at home!! Wow what a beautiful lake home on Lake Gilbert. The description was perfect and listing photos great; however walking in the home was more than our expectations. The home was a mini resort and grounds so inviting. Ken checked in upon our arrival to show us around and answer any questions we might have. Our family of seven with two grandchildren had a week full of memories. We used every inch of space and activities. We suggested going out to eat a couple times, but our entire family said we are having so much fun here and the accommodations are so wonderful we want to stay in and enjoy. The outdoor fireplace was a hit and the private lot and access to the lake was perfect. We played in the water, made sandcastles in the sand, fishing off the dock, boating around the lake, grilling out, family dinners in the sunroom and patio, used the paddleboat, played pin pong, bike rides up and down the long driveway, and most of all creating memories for us. We had a wonderful family vacation and we all want to come back again. This could be our annual family vacation and have our grandchildren grow up with more memories.

My family and I really enjoyed our vacation at Ken and Joan's retreat. The cabin/house is very clean and peaceful. The pan fishing was exceptional. Will return next year if there are any openings. My only fraw back was the gradual hill to the lake. It was a little more steep than we thought and my handicapped mother was NOT able to get to the lake to fish. Ken was very helpful with anything we needed. Definately a place i want to return to SOON!
