We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely home and neighborhood despite the unusually rainy weather this January. We look forward to staying again.

Great location for those who want surfing and/or beach time, and 30-40 min access to San Diego.

This is a better than average rental property with an awesome location. My wife and I rented the property for the entire month of October. A guy at the surf shop called it "Local's Summer." We had beautiful weather almost every day. A short, 5 minute walk to a very nice beach. We spent time at the ocean every day. One block walk to a little commercial district with several restaurants and coffee shops. Five minute drive to Pavilions, one of the nicer grocery stores we've ever shopped. Great kitchen if you want to cook meals at home. Owners were very responsive. We had an issue with the main TV not working, but the owners addressed it promptly. Like any older property, it has its own personality and quirks, but mostly it just has a lot of charm. We were quite comfortable here for a month and would definitely rent here again!

Great location and property!

We had a great vacation in La Jolla! This house is really comfortable and walkable to restaurants and the beach. The outdoor space is really peaceful.

We stayed for January,February and March,this was our 7th long term stay in La Jolla Shores and as usual was most enjoyable.Our host Tony was attentive and responsive to our needs. One block from restaurants and shops and a short walk to the beach.

Walking distance (5 minutes) to a playground on the beach, many restaurants and bars. Two dedicated bedrooms, but 2 very large closets (more like a small bedroom) that could be used for a pack-n-play or inflatable mattress. One has a crib. The location of this house is perfect if you want a walkable vacation. Very friendly corner market that was open on Christmas.

The Chen’s are incredibly helpful and friendly. My family really enjoyed the time in La Jolla and thought the location was excellent. The home was very attractive and well appointed, supplying everything a family needs for a vacation. at the beach. Overall, very happy. We’ll be back!

This may be my all-time favorite VRBO! It is in the perfect neighborhood, walking distance from a cute street with fabulous Italian restaurant with outdoor dining. A few blocks from the beach and minutes from La Jolla cove. The design of the house is spectacular, and the courtyard garden so lovely. I didn't want to leave! Will def be back!

This is a fantastic vacation rental. It is very spacious and light filled. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you should need. It has comfortable beds, is walking distance to the beach and is a very short walk to the restaurants on Avenida de la Playa. We were there for Thanksgiving and the owner kindly left a roasting pan for us. I highly recommend this property!

Had a great stay, all the amenities one would need. Only negative was the busy street in front. But a 5 star place for sure!

Underadvertised. Excellent house. Excellent design and decor. Filtered water. Hi fidelity analog Speakers throughout. Great kitchen with griddle cast iron and chop sticks. Great natural light. Surfed everyday. Awesome showers both indoor and outdoor. 3 parking spots. 3 blocks away La Jolla Shores. Surf every day and walk/bike everywhere . Please take care of the house, I would like to continue to enjoy this rental the coming years and keep costs low for everyone and make everyone happy. 100/100

Beautiful property in a very nice location. Six minute walk to beach and restaurants. Only (slight) downside were the light switches that take some time to figure out.

The house and location are both great. We had a couple of issues with the owners though. My 6-year old twins were pulling on a locked door that is between a bedroom and one of the bathrooms. This resulted in the door jamb (a single thin strip of wood) splitting and the lock popping out. As my kids are only 6, I think the wood must have been cracked before, but nonetheless I contacted the owner and agreed to pay for the damage. We had 1 week left on our stay. The owner told us their regular contractor was out of town but would come Saturday (the day we checked out) to make the repair. A few weeks after we left we were charged $950 for the repair. The repair involved replacing a single thin strip of wood inside a door frame. The national average cost to replace a door jamb is only $125 (VRBO will not let me post a link, but you can check at HomeGuide) I contacted the owner about why the cost was so high. They did not provide a receipt. They claimed it was because the wood was Douglas Fir, which they could only get from a specialty provider, and contractors charging them a 50% premium to get the work done ASAP. I checked and you can buy Dougals Fir at Lowe’s and Home Depot (just Google it) and in any case you would not pay hundreds of dollars for a single strip of wood, even from a “specialty provider”. Perhaps their regular contractor charged them a 50% premium, but even so I don't see how that gets us close to $950. I learned per VRBO rules the owner can charge you up to $1500 for damages and you really have little if any recourse. VRBO is supposedly investigating my case, but after months I still have not heard back. When I call they keep me on hold for long periods and each new person is clueless about the case, so I gave up. The second issue with this stay was a homeless person defecated by the side of the house (in plain view from the dining room window) on our last day there. I called the owner and offered to report this to the police, but the owner did not want me to. On checkout the following day the owner insisted I put the key in the lockbox that was located on the side of house where the man had defecated (it had not been cleaned up), as his cleaning people could not get in the house otherwise. I believe the owner lives locally and in my opinion should have come over and let the cleaning people in rather than ask me to do that.

My husband and I and our son and his girlfriend spent a wonderful five days in this lovely house, which is beautifully decorated, and also cozy and warm. We especially enjoyed hanging out in the large courtyard. We enjoyed walking to nearby shops and restaurants and most days took long walks on the nearby beach. When we wanted to venture further in San Diego, most places were well under a half hour drive, A highlight of our stay was a late afternoon hike in nearby Torrey Pines Reservation. Angie was quick to respond any time we had a question.

The house is much better than the photos online make it seem and is very large and spacious. Home was very clean, modern and host was excellent with check in instructions. There are several restaurants in walking distance, Scoops has the best ice cream and easy walk to La Jolla Shores beach. Stayed almost a week and no issues. Will definitely be back with the family!

Walk to the beach and downtown La Jolla Shores from a fabulous Asian-influenced and architecturally interesting home. Outdoor spaces are terrific too!

Talk about a perfect home in the middle of La Jolla to get away and enjoy your vacation. This location is perfect for day golf trips, hikes at Torrey Pines, dinners/drinks a block away and of course the beach! If you want a spot that is quiet and relaxing while being a 30 min walk from every shop/bar in town, book now. This house is the perfect spot to enjoy grilling at home, drinks on the back patio and jamming to music around the whole house. We hope to visit and rebook this amazing spot.

We stayed at this location for a week and absolutely loved it. The owners where great with communication and did a lot to make our trip perfect. Location was perfect - walking distance to shopping, restaurants and beach. House was really nice and big.

Met or exceeded all expectations!

Living room furniture was not very comfortable as we bought patio chairs in to sit on. A few light bulbs where out-in bathroom and living room. Very nice property just a little dated except kitchen which was fabulous and house very hi tech with TVS

Such an artfully designed and furnished home! Very beautiful!!! This lovely home also has a welcoming courtyard for indoor / outdoor living. We fell in love with the neighborhood- so close to the beach!!! The only negative was the amount of weight I gained from all of the incredible restaurants nearby. We will definitely be back!

We had such a good time here, you are so close to the beach and the lovely restaurants of La Jolla. The house has a great feel to it and has everything you would need and more! Would highly recommend staying here.

We spent a week at this beautifully decorated, well appointed home. The house is full of natural light during the day and tasteful designer lighting at night. We particularly enjoyed the bluetooth assisted speaker system that allowed us to play our own music throughout the house. The ample size of the home seemed even larger as almost all the rooms looked out on to the lush courtyard, with exotic plants and flowers. It was a few minutes easy walk to the beach, and to the town, where there was an ample variety of top notch restaurants. We are frequent renters of private vacation homes, and this one was one of the best we have experienced.
