A cute cabin with a lovely little porch to sit and listen to the creek below. Will definitely be back.

We were looking for a cozy home with cool views for a couple of nights. We found exactly that! This home is sweet and quiet. Plenty of space and everything you could need. My guest and I live in Florida. This was the perfect change of pace.

Enjoyed a laid back weekend. Just could use a bigger tv

Because of truck problems, didn't get to enjoy the cabin as much as we had planned. However, Glenn(the owner) went above and beyond to help solve my truck problem. But, the problem was and still is not solved. We really did enjoy visiting with my sister and the cabin for 2 of our 4 days and plan on a return trip, IF THE TRUCK GETS FIXED.
Much thanks to Glenn and hope to see you again in the future....

Cozy, relaxing and charming little cabin by a little creek! Easy access to Blue Ridge Parkway.

We enjoyed this cute place nestled in the woods right next to a stream. The owner brought us fresh bread and brought my kids a gift. It was the perfect place for a weekend getaway and for viewing the foliage.

Pulling up to this property feels like a scene from a movie! A small gravel road surrounded by GORGEOUS overgrown foliage as far as the eye can see! There are several other homes very close by but you can not see them unless you’re walking through the stream. Oh my, and what a breath taking stream it is!!!! Many cascading mini little waterfalls, flowers and berries!! My 9 year old son and I hung a hammock up, relaxed and played in the water nearly every day! A stone walk way leads to the porch and as soon as you open the door you are created by an OVERWHELMING mold smell. It is on everything: the dishes smell like it, the bedding, the towels…it really affected my sons breathing and he coughed his head off day and night. The smell made it hard to enjoy the stay in what would be a cute little cabin! They provided everything you would need for your stay with ample blankets and towels. There is not a big screen tv as the one pictured. Instead there is a very small smart tv hanging on the wall but it gets the job done. Also to be noted there is dust hanging from everything and we found a snake skin hanging from the fireplace stone, going to the attic space. We did not hear from the owners before, during or after our stay which I kind of appreciated but their numbers where clearly listed in the house.

Memories to last a lifetime
I can't say enough good things about this property or the owners. The owners moved us to another cabin due to the internet being out in ours, thinking of our teenagers. The cabin was amazing!! It was such a wonderful peaceful place. The cabin including every little small thing you could think of. The owner visited and brought us delicious homemade rolls. They were such a sweet couple who enjoyed sharing their piece of heaven. We definitley plan to come again!!

Adorable cabin
Black Bear Lodge is an adorable, small cabin that is perfect for a weekend stay near Asheville, NC. It is located above a small, running stream that makes the most pleasant, calming sound as you sit on the porch. The living area is large enough for 5-6 guests to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. The bedrooms and bathrooms are small but plenty big enough for a small family. Our only complaint is that the cabin had a moldy, closed-up smell that really bothered one of our kids with allergies. Other than that, we loved our trip!

What a great place for a quiet getaway in the mountains! This was our second stay here and we’ll definitely be back.

Cool "getaway"
No cell service on the mountain, does have wifi.
No cell service is kinda what we needed for a couple of days. If you have i-messaged people before, a text will go through, but there is a land line for emergencies.
If you go in winter, and are cold natured, bring an extra space heater. The main heater gets the living area, and there is heat in the master bath, but if it's really cold, the rooms will be cold. We like it, but some might be put off. It was in the high 20's for the first time this year.
We had an issue with the master bath heater, contacted the manager, and had a backup within an hour, so excellent service. Plenty of blankets, comfy couches, nice large king bed. Creek right off the porch. You need an SUV or truck, or car with decent ground clearance to get up there, the road is not 'low slung car friendly', starting with the creek crossing. So it was perfect for us. It has everything you need to 'get away' for a while. We never even turned on the TV. Plenty of access to food and groceries with 10-15 minutes, so we will be renting again, may take the dog and the grandson too.

Listening to the creek was amazing
Had a great time. Wish we could have been able to get to the creek. Could use updating. Reminded me of an old fishing cabin.

Mountain Get Away
This is a perfect place for a mountain get away! Tucked back in the woods, the cabin overlooks a running stream. Was so peaceful sitting on the porch having coffee in the morning! The cabin is adorable! It has a rustic feel, but has all the amenities you need. This is just the place you imagine when visiting the mountains!

Cozy cabin
We enjoyed our stay in this cute cabin. Truly felt like you walked into your own home. The owners left a handwritten note with fresh dinner rolls, which were delicious. Highly recommend for a family or couple looking to get away and relax.

Everything was as described. A Kureg coffee maker would’ve been nice.
We had fun, only 2 down sides were not enough parking space and coffee maker. Other than that -great !

Restful cabin
The cabin is very restful and relaxing. Overlooking a stream, on a mountain (or big hill), we could not have asked for a nicer place to stay while on vacation. Our dog loved it there too!

Mountain Oasis
Perfect place to get away from the daily hustle and bustle of everyday life. Just sit on the deck and take in the sun and the babbling creek below. No need to leave if you want to decompress, relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. For those who want to be active there are hiking trails on the mountains within a 10 minute ride and Blue Ridge Parkway is a short ride away on the switchback access road.

This is the fourth or fifth time visiting the Glenn acres property. Love that the cabins are tucked away in the mountain. Always a welcome getaway from the busy world.

Perfect Getaway!!!
We only left the cabin for hikes on foot, and it was lovely! The hosts were gracious and generous. The yeast rolls and applesauce and banana bread they gave us were delicious. They upgraded us without us asking to ensure our comfort, due to colder than usual temperatures. We are hoping to go back w a group of folks and rent out a few of the cabins. I highly recommend!

Pandemic home away from home
This little cozy cabin was a perfect get away for us for Christmas. The hosts are very gracious, even bringing us more firewood after a snow storm because they thought we had run out! The decoration and surrounding area really just makes you feel relaxed and at ease.

Great for a Family Meet-up
My husband and I rented Black Bear Lodge while my son and his family rented Hilltop for a meet-up during these difficult times of Covid. Black Bear has a large living/dining area that allowed us to eat dinner indoors while still being physically distanced. I especially appreciated the gas grill; everything in the kitchen allowed us to make a great meal for 7. Now that it is getting colder at night, we found that the heating unit in the main living areas only warmed the bedrooms marginally and wouldn't be enough for colder nights. The creek was lovely and we made fires outside both nights. Yes, there is a stretch of a rough, unpaved road and you must drive through the creek which would be more difficult in rainy weather. Overall we were very happy with the accommodations and the hosts.

Retreat to the mountains!
Awesome little cabin, super cozy & tucked away next to a creek. Very soothing as the water rushes by 24/7. The very sweet owners showed up upon my arrival after taking the pup for a quick walk. The fresh made rolls & local honey are ( to die for ) we even got hooked up with extra after my sister's boyfriend went up to ask for firewood. Great experience all around! I'd say only things that bothered us were the very stiff beds. Could be easily fixed with a 1-2" mattress topper. Also a little bugs that get through the window due to the kitchen sink light. All in all I gotta say. 10/10 stay. Must go!!

Great Mountain Experience
Rustic and roomy for no more than 4, great to hear the creek throughout the day and night. The place did need some more lighting and replacement of light bulbs. Also, there is a small ford that you must go over to get to the place. I was worried about our car since it isn't far from the ground and does not have 4 wheel drive. Heavy rain made the crossing a bit scary.

Weekend getaway
Had a great time being able to get to the mountains for the weekend. The property managers are awesome and had the house ready to go upon our arrival. They also surprised us with some homemade biscuits that were amazing! Will definitely be coming back.

Relaxing weekend getaway
The location was good for us who only wanted a place to crash after exploring the Blue Ridge Pkwy and the Smoky Mountains. I only have a couple of comments that resulted in three 4 star ratings on my review. It would have been nice to know that the paved road ends a bit before the cabin. It is a pretty rough road in places and it rained consistently on day 2 causing a good-sized creek to form across the road. My daughter's Mini Cooper would have bottomed out so it could be a factor for some. The lockbox is really hard to read in the dark. We got our maglight out in order to see the numbers. A new lockbox would be a really inexpensive fix that would give the new guests an easier checkin. I would say it needs a little updating, and I don't mean a fixer upper by any means! It is quaint, quiet and clean so I would absolutely come back, without hesitation! I would suggest some very inexpensive things like new pillows (I had to put two together to get the feel of one standard pillow - LOL), replace the bathroom sink faucet because I think the screen on the underside isn't right, some new towels would be another really inexpensive update. The furniture is old but that is part of the charm of a mountain cabin so I think that was fine. The master bed was comfortable enough and the temperature in the cabin was perfect. There is a ceiling fan in the living room if you do get a little warm and there is a stand fan in the bedroom if needed. We came back on day 2 to find a bag with fresh biscuits on the front door which was a very sweet surprise. So thoughful! I hope the owners don't misunderstand these comments and think we didn't enjoy our visit because we absolutely did. Sometimes if you don't live in a house, you might not even notice these things and if someone can tell you, you may have even happier guests for a very little outlay. By all means, you should stay here!
